Mission statement: The purpose of We the People of Highlands County, FL is to provide for information exchange, education and open discussion of topics of special interest to our residents. Topics may include, for example: health care, immigration, global warming, the environment, taxes, screening of candidates, and big government, as well as planning for crises and disasters, and other issues of interest to our community. These gatherings can include invited speakers, information presentation, panel debates and facilitated discussions. Our intent is to motivate our citizens to become actively involved in the selection of candidates, follow-on election and interactions with our federal, state and local representatives. THE HIGHLANDS TEA PARTY MISSION STATEMENT We the people of Highlands County, Florida, join with others and are united in our determination to raise awareness of the excessive government spending and taxation. Our earnest hope is to motivate the forces of change and end the era of punitive taxation, reckless spending, and disregard of our inalienable human rights by our local, state, and federal governments. We invite all who are willing to insist on accountability, fiscal responsibility, Constitutionally limited government, and free markets to join with us in our effort to reestablish the independence and liberty of every American.
