“Tax Day in Jackson County brings out Tea Party Patriots.”
On Saturday April 14, Tea Party Patriots from Jackson County and 9-12 Project members from Haywood County
turned out in Sylva to protest America’s debt crisis at the intersection of Highway 107 and Business 23.
Displaying flags and signs with patriotic, anti-debt messages, they enthusiastically waved at passing
motorists eliciting honks and waves of approval from dozens of passer-bys.
Ginny Jahrmarkt of Sapphire, one of the founding members of TPP of JC said, “we are in a tax and spend debt
spiral.” In 2008, when our debt was around $9 trillion, candidate Obama remarked that it was
”unpatriotic” and ”irresponsible” to saddle future generations with such large debt.
It now stands at $15.6 trillion. Our debt has exploded. We are spending one hundred percent of
our GDP. This can’t go on much longer.”John Kummer of Sylva said, “I think it’s important that we exercise our freedoms. From the governmental
standpoint its all about following the constitution and from the cultural standpoint its all about God,
country, and family. We must restore the constitution.”
