Establishment of the Walton County Monroe Committee of Safety
A General Association agreed to and subscribed by the Members of the several Committees of the State of Georgia the City of Monroe and County of Walton.
PERSUADED that the salvation of the Rights and Liberties of America depends under God on the firm Union of itâ€™s Inhabitants, in a Vigorous prosecution of the Measures necessary for itâ€™s Safety; and convinced of the necessity of preventing the Anarchy and Confusion, which attend a Dissolution of the Powers of Government
WE the Freemen, Freeholders and Inhabitants of the City and County of Walton being greatly Alarmed at the avowed Design of the Socialism and Enslavement that has come to our States , to raise a Revolt in America and to enslave every citizen to ; and shocked by the Suspension and/or denial of National ?Civil liberties Do in the most Solemn Manner resolve never to become enslaved by Corrupt Government; and do associate under all the Ties of Religion, Honor, and Love to our Country, to adopt and endeavor to carry into Execution whatever Measures may be recommended by Governor of the State or the interim Congress , or resolved upon by our Provincial Convention for the purpose of preserving our Constitution, and opposing the Execution of the several Arbitrary and oppressive Acts of the U.S Government until a Reconciliation between That administration and American Citizens on Constitutional Principles (which we most ardently desire) can be obtained; And that we will in all things follow the Advice of our General Committee respecting the purpose aforesaid, the preservation of Peace and good Order and the safety of Individuals Citizens and private Property.
Hearing also the voices of the enslaved who are trapped under the Governments Control through many assistance programs.
Do solemnly swear to uphold and fight for and preserve under all circumstances all rights guaranteed the people of the State of Georgia and the other member states of the Union."
