Tipton County Tea Party was founded in February/March 2009 and is part of the grassroots Tea Party Movement. We are patriotic Tipton County citizens who are concerned about the direction our country is heading. We gather together to preserve our Constitution and our great Republic from destruction at the hands of far left wing radical politicians who put Personal Self Interest and Party Power before the best interests of the American people. It is shameful what our own politicians are doing to our Republic, our economy and our freedoms! In the spirit of the Sons of Liberty in Boston, who in 1773 protested the British government by dumping tons of tea into Boston harbor, we strive to protect the individual liberties of every American through Tea Party Protests and grassroots activism. Our children and grandchildren are relying on us to make the tough choices and take the actions necessary to restore their freedoms and preserve our free Republic. We must be good stewards of their future, and of our Republic. Come join us in this noble cause!

Our group organized in April, 2010 and we had over 225 at our first meeting. We meet at the Best Western, Roan Steet, Johnson City, TN. 37660.We formed seven committees and we are trying to win some "wars" in our local area as well as State and Federal. The organizers are Doug and Kay White and they attend the County Commission meeting, city and all other Tea Party Meetings that are in the area when schedules permit. We are working to educate and elevate the truth of our Constitution. Brenda Osborne, a loyal member set up our web site and we have a very functional Educational committee which meets every Sat. morning for a round table dicussion at the Best Western at nine. We have been on television, radio and in the newspapers. We were able with the Greene County Tea Party to take 3 buses full to the Glenn Beck Rally. One of our organizers, Kay was interviewed at the Glenn Beck Rally by Alzazeera International Television where she spoke out against Sheriah law and told on television why - the next week she was received a letter from a Muslim in Africa! She immediately wrote back and told them we only needed to follow the law which we have, our Constitution and we did not NEED any other laws - just for our elected officials to follow the Constitution!

We finally have a good and active group in Cookeville, TN and surrounding counties. This is a group that supports the tea party principles of limited government, free markets and fiscal responsibility in government. We believe in the Constitution\'s precepts of liberty through personal responsibility. We welcome all who share our concern that our current government has grown too large and has been assuming powers not granted to it by our Constitution, and are dedicated to restoring our country to our founders original intent. We meet once a month at the Sheriffs office in Cookeville on the 3rd Thursday of the month. Our members are active in staying updated on matters that concern us all. We are a growing group of volunteers who realize we are in a financial, constitutional,& moral crisis. We are committed to returning our federal government to its Constitutional bounds and making our representatives accountable to the will of the people, who are the sole source of our governmental authority and existence.
