STATEMENT OF TEA PARTY PATRIOTS CO-FOUNDER JENNY BETH MARTIN PREPARED FOR DELIVERY-AUGUST 1,  2013 PRESS CONFERENCE

“Tea Party Patriots has a very simple message today to the House, the Senate, and the White House:

Delay the implementation of Obamacare. That means delaying its funding.

The President acknowledged that Obamacare is not ready.  That’s why the White House announced a delay in implementing the Obamacare mandate for Big Business.

That comes on the heels of the many waivers that have already been granted to major labor unions – because Obamacare is not ready for them either.

Just yesterday it was reported that the President was on Capitol Hill in a closed door meeting with Senate Democrats determining how to bypass the law and exempt members of Congress and Congressional staffers from the exchanges.

But the President has offered no such delay or waiver for the American people.  We’re stuck with the Individual Mandate for a bureaucratic Bill that the White House admits is just not ready.

The heads of three of the biggest labor unions in the country told the President that Obamacare is going to shatter their health care and bring an end to the 40-hour work week. Almost two dozen Democrats in the House voted with Republicans to delay the Individual Mandate.

If Obamacare is not ready for Big Business, Big Labor, or Big Government, it’s not ready for the American people.

Delay the implementation of Obamacare.  That means delaying its funding.

Congress has the authority to continue to fund the government in all other areas and also to delay the funding of Obamacare, through the temporary continuing resolution.  This will simply delay funding for Obamacare for a year and will give all of us a chance to understand better what is in the “train wreck” bill before funding it.

To the Republicans in the House, we say: Don’t provide money to pay for a law that’s not ready to be implemented. It’s time to delay.

To the Democrats in the Senate, we say: How dare you deny a vote on bipartisan legislation to delay the Employer and Individual Mandates? It’s time to delay.

And to the citizens of the United States, we say:

If you believe that government should treat you and your family at least as well as it treats Big Business, Big Labor and Big Government – then help us amplify your voice.

We, the American people, demand Congress delay the implementation of Obamacare.
