Last week, WWII veterans made news for pushing past asinine barriers set up by the Administration to “protect” against people visiting the World War II Memorial. After two days of horrific public relations, the Administration retreated, citing the First Amendment.

However, add the upcoming union-backed immigration to the Veterans’ catastrophe, and it becomes clear that the First Amendment only applies if you cause a PR fiasco, or are allies of the Obama Administration:

Susana Flores, a spokesperson for the rally, confirmed for the Washington Examiner that the Park Service will allow the event to take place under the group’s rights granted by the First Amendment.

About 30 members of Congress are expected to attend the rally, including House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J.

The event is hosted by several immigration activist groups, together with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and the AFL-CIO.

The above event will be taking place on The National Mall, which has been closed since the government “shutdown” kicked in.

When Constitutional rights become subject to shifting political winds, they’re not rights anymore. They’re government favors.
