Tea Party Patriots’ Founder Responds to Export-Import Bank’s Expiration

Atlanta, Ga. – Tea Party Patriots' supporters across the country today applaud the expiration of the Export-Import Bank's funding authorization from Congress. The Export-Import Bank, also known as the Ex-Im Bank, was established in 1934 by executive order and its stated purpose was to help finance the sale of U.S. exports to foreign countries. Over the past decades, the Bank has unfairly chosen "winners" and "losers" among American companies, using tax dollars to interfere with the market and play favoritism with well-connected private companies such as Boeing. Conservatives criticize the Bank for misusing tax dollars and squashing fair ...

Jenny Beth Martin: Time to end the Obamacare exemption!

Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin has a new op-ed at Breitbart News about last week’s Obamacare exemption rallies. On June 17, patriots from around the country gathered at their Representative’s or Senator’s local offices to protest Congress’ special exemption from Obamacare. At the end of the day, conservatives rallied at more than 500 offices around the country. As a result of the protests, five additional Congressmen have agreed to sign on as co-sponsors of H.R. 1953, also known as the “No Exemption for Washington From Obamacare Act.” Writes Martin: Our grievance is simple: we want Congress to participate in the law ...

Tea Partiers Rally Nationwide to Demand the End of Congress’ Obamacare Exemption

Atlanta, Ga. – Tomorrow at Noon, Tea Party Patriots across the country will converge upon their Senators' and Representatives' local offices to demand that they abide by the laws they force on the American people. Under Section 1312 (D) of the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare), Members of Congress and their staff can no longer obtain health insurance through the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP). They also lost a generous FEHBP subsidy ($5,000 for individuals and $10,000 for the family plan). But, rather than lose the benefit as they originally wrote into law, Congress has re-classified itself as a “small business” – an absurd ...

Epic Obamacare Exemption Flip-Flops

There are many things to dislike about Obamacare. The list - such as skyrocketing insurance premiums, IRS penalties, and the job-destroying on small businesses - is bad enough. But outrageously, Congress has taken the additional step of exempting themselves and their staff from Obamacare. Congress knew how bad a health care law written by insurance lobbyists would be, and they decided to not abide by that same law they force us to live under. President Obama hoped we wouldn’t notice how he illegally authorized the Office of Budget and management (OPM) to treat Congressional offices on the hill as if they were a small business. That allowed ...

It’s time to end the Obamacare exemption!

Exactly one week from today, Tea Party Patriots will be rallying to protest Congress’ special Obamacare exemption. We find it disgraceful that members of Congress should get a free pass from a law that burdens so many American citizens. We’re asking all our supporters to join in the protest at their local Congressional offices at noon next Wednesday. Click here to find out how you can participate in the June 17 rally to end Congress’ Obamacare exemption! If you can’t make it to rally, help us on social media – especially Twitter – by using the hashtag #noexemption! Right now, lawmakers are avoiding the Obamacare law by designating ...

Join us, and rally to stop Congress’ Obamacare exemption!

It should go without saying that members of Congress should have to abide by the same laws the rest of us do. If a piece of legislation is good enough for the people, it should be good enough for our elected officials. That is, unless it’s Obamacare. While Americans were forced to live under the disaster that is Obamacare, lawmakers on Capitol Hill were given a pass – thanks to a nice little exemption they wrote for themselves. As Tea Party Patriots, we won’t take this double standard any longer. So on Wednesday, June 17, we, along with our supporters, will be rallying to end Congress’ Obamacare exemption! Click here to find out how you ...

End the NSA dragnet (Op-Ed from Jenny Beth Martin and Alex Abdo)

Around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, there was a seismic shift in the U.S. Congress. As the Senate deadlocked over what to do about several expiring provisions of the Patriot Act, it became clear that political momentum had moved away from surveillance and secrecy toward freedom and privacy... Congress should not be exempt from Obamacare

The American people strongly objected to the President’s health care overhaul back in 2010. Congress ignored our objections and passed the bill into law without even taking the time to read it or understand the implications.  Now, more than five years later, Americans are suffering from the law’s provisions. Millions of Americans have experienced a loss of health insurance, premium increases, and new taxes and regulations. Tea Party Patriots has steadfastly opposed the law because of all of its harmful effects. The law's primary enforcement mechanisms come through taxes and fees on individuals and businesses that do not comply with the ...
