Heads up: These 8 Obamacare co-ops will probably fail this year

The health-insurance co-ops created under Obamacare are falling like dominoes, with eight of the remaining 11 likely to collapse within the year, according to analysis from an investigative reporter. The Daily Caller has the scoop: Twelve of the original 23 federally financed co-ops have already collapsed. The co-op program was funded with $2.5 billion in 2010. “In general, there’s not a turnaround in sight. The same problems that plagued them before are continuing,” Thomas P. Miller, senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute who previously served as the senior health economist for the congressional Joint Economic Committee, told ...

Did hundreds of Washington influencers stay mum about Hillary’s illegal email setup?

Dozens upon dozens of reporters, judges and congressional and White House staffers may have known about Hillary Clinton’s shady use of a private email server long before it became headline news. The Washington Times has the details: Listed on some of the more than 28,000 messages Mrs. Clinton released so far are several White House chiefs of staff and a former director of the Office of Management and Budget, much of the rest of official Washington, and a number of people who had oversight of the State Department’s key operations and open-records obligations. President Obama was also on a series of messages, though the government is withholding ...

This week we’re going to go straight to the issue that’s going to have smart heads exploding and tongues wagging for the next several weeks, if not for the duration of the 114th Congress – what to do about an untimely vacancy on the Supreme Court. SUPREME COURT: Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia died of a heart attack early Saturday morning. He was a giant of the legal profession – the longest serving member of the current Supreme Court, a champion of the legal ...

Watchdog group calling for federal probe of Hillary’s relationship with firm tied to son-in-law

The Foundation for Accountability and Public Trust filed a complaint with the U.S. Office of Government Ethics saying former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a deep-sea-mining company with ties to her son-in-law special access to State Department officials in violation of federal ethics guidelines. Fox News has the specifics: Mezvinsky, a partner in a New York hedge fund and the husband of Clinton's daughter Chelsea, had received an email in May 2012 from investor Harry Siklas asking if he could help set up contacts with Clinton or other State Department officials. That August, Clinton relayed a copy of the investor's email to Mezvin...

5 of the best quotes against the national debt

The total U.S. national debt to date is a whopping $18,807,234,015,463.93, roughly $58,000 per citizen(!), according to Ed Hall who used information from the Treasury Department to calculate the number. While the push to repeal Obamacare in the Senate reconciliation bill moves to the House and then to President Obama's desk, it's the perfect time to remember why conservatives need to continue to push for an end to out-of-control spending in Washington: because — in the words of U.S. Senator Mike Lee — letting future generations foot the bill is "taxation without representation." Here are leaders past and present who remind us why we need ...

Thank These Conservative Leaders

This week, Congressman Paul Ryan was sworn in as the new Speaker of the House. While we have our concerns with Ryan, it was a long fought battle to remove John Boehner as Speaker - going all the way back to 2012. We had two major victories in forcing Boehner to resign and then making Kevin McCarthy pull his name from the Speaker race. For that, we have a lot to be proud of.   Moving forward we are going to do everything we can to hold Speaker Ryan accountable and to do everything in our power to make sure he upholds the promises that he made to House conservatives to reform the House and decentralize the power structure. Make sure you sign our ...

You Won’t Believe What Happened in GOP Conference Last Night

As you've probably heard from media reports by now, last night Rep. Paul Ryan gave a speech to his colleagues in the Republican Conference meeting that he would accept the job of Speaker of the House as long as he could be a unifying force AND as long as the 3 major factions in the House got behind him. Oh, and there's one other thing. He wants the Republican Conference to change the rules of the House to remove the power of Members to issue a motion to vacate the chair - which you'll recall is the mechanism that Mark Meadows of North Carolina used to ultimately force John Boehner to step down. So Paul Ryan wants to be Speaker as long as he can ...
