Former IRS exec Lois Learner broke the law in a major way, documents suggest

Disgraced IRS executive Lois Lerner, who resigned after it came to light she was the driving force behind the agency’s targeting of Americans for their political beliefs, may have illegally handed over more than a million pages of Americans’ confidential tax returns. National Review has the scoop: Recently obtained documents raise new questions about Lois Lerner’s role in sending confidential tax returns to the Justice Department. It is likely the largest unauthorized disclosure of tax-return information in history: the transfer of some 1.25 million pages of confidential tax returns from the IRS to the Department of Justice in October of ...

Rep. Gohmert to gun-control nuts: ‘Radical Islam killed these people!’

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) Wednesday challenged liberal members of Congress – staked out in the House Chamber for a so-called gun-control “sit in” – who demanded representatives in the wake of the Orlando terror attack vote on gun-control legislation that would tighten background checks for gun buyers – a measure, says Gohmert, that’s beside the point. “We are talking about radical Islam. Radical Islam killed these people!” Rep. Gohmert is heard saying to his liberal colleagues in Periscope footage filmed during the 16-hour demonstration. The legislation House liberals wanted a vote on would block those on the “no-fly” and ...

Las Vegas Review-Journal: The DOJ needs to ‘hold the IRS accountable for its actions’

A federal court last week ordered the IRS to hand over agency spreadsheets of the groups the IRS is targeting – this after the agency had been stonewalling, arguing the spreadsheets are protected under U.S. code intended to maintain confidentiality of taxpayers’ tax returns. Those at the Las Vegas Review-Journal are crying “foul” and demanding the agency hand over the documents. Read the editorial from the Las Vegas Review-Journal: The IRS hiding behind taxpayer privacy concerns is ridiculous, and the Sixth Circuit should be applauded for its ruling. These conservative groups in question don’t mind if their information becomes ...

(VIDEO) Tea Party Patriots CEO Jenny Beth Martin’s Remarks from CPAC

Hello, CPAC! You know, the President of the United States last addressed this gathering eight years ago. Do the math – it was a different president then. As he sat in the Oval Office, preparing for that speech, he came across a phrase in the draft that confused him. So he asked, “What is this movement you keep talking about in the speech?” The speechwriter, stunned, responded. “Well, the CONSERVATIVE movement,” he answered. “You know, the one that started back in the sixties, when conservative groups first took root.” That apparently didn’t sit well with the President. “Let me tell you something,” he said. ...

Taxpayers beware: IRS data breach larger than first anticipated

Hackers this year were able to access the Internal Revenue Service’s “Get Transcript” program – which houses taxpayer history online – and steal taxpayers’ identities. WOWKTV has the story:   Not even Virginia based tax attorney, Wayne Zell, was protected from hackers who he says stole his identity. "Somebody was trying to claim a refund using my social security number and I knew something was wrong," said Zell. The IRS's data dump is the latest in a series of disclosures. Americans go through enough just to file their taxes – add to that the targeting scandal Americans face at the hands of the agency and the ...
