STATEMENT OF TEA PARTY PATRIOTS NATIONAL COORDINATOR JENNY BETH MARTIN ON VITTER AMENDMENT TO SJR 19

“David Vitter gets it.  His amendment to prohibit elected officials, political appointees and their staffers from receiving taxpayer subsidies and special treatment shows that he understands the fundamental inequity of one set of rules for the political elite and a different set of rules for everyone else. If the American people can’t get an exemption from the disaster of ObamaCare, neither should Congress and the Obama Administration. By adding this amendment to Harry Reid’s measure stripping free speech from the First Amendment, Senator Vitter offers a striking contrast in how the two parties in Congress see the people they represent. ...

She also highlighted Tea Party successes across the nation in Wisconsin and Washington State, and how patriotic citizens around the nation and in Congress are taking back our country. Tea Party activists to hold Idaho state leaders accountable for Obamacare

In December 2012, Idaho’s governor announced he would implement a state-based insurance exchange as part of the Affordable Care Act. Since this decision empowers the Affordable Care Act, Tea Party Activists in the region are making their opposition to Obamacare known. Dianne Capps and Idaho State Coordinator Pam Stout are working with Gem State Tea Party in this effort. Their coordination includes eastern Washington State activists and activists across Idaho. Taking place on January 20 and 21, activists will protest, have a discussion and debate seminar, and meet with legislators. According to a press release from Governor C.L. Otter’s office ...

Bringing Tea Party Principles to America

With Election Day around the corner, it is more important than ever that Tea Party Patriot principles are brought to the fore of the public discussion. There are many ways to do this, and most of them originate at the local level, where creativity and dynamic thinking abound. However, coordinating all of these great ideas and efforts is important, and to that end Tea Party Patriots has created the Regional Support Team, which consists of five Regional Coordinators and one National Coordinator. As we come down the wire to Election Day, Tea Party Patriots will be highlighting the great work local and state-based groups are doing. These efforts are ...

There they go again: Mainstream media continues to not get the Tea Party!

It’s truly one extreme to another with the mainstream media  - they cannot understand a movement of people who are not trying to get something from the government, and are not structured top-down like most interest-groups and many political parties. For months they have been writing us off – as the Washington cartoon below aptly illustrates: (Lisa Benson, 5/10/2012; http://townhall.com/political-cartoons/2012/05/10/99134) But we have not been dying, we’ve been organizing; when Senator Lugar lost, the continued increasing strength of the tea party became obvious causing the media to the opposite extreme. Now they are calling us ...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: The GOP quandary: How far right without falling over the edge? “…Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who is at or near the top of most early polls among Republicans, likes to boast how he stuck to conservative principles to win statewide office three times in a centrist state. “To win the center, you don’t have to go to the center, you have to lead,” he said last week during a Tea Party Patriots telephone town hall. Tea party loyalists are still somewhat wary of Walker, though, because of past positions on immigration and government support for ethanol, a big issue in Iowa, site of the nation’s first caucus…” ht...

HEALTHCARE: How many will have to pay back Obamacare subsidies? “More Americans will owe the government money for their Obamacare subsidy than won't, says a new analysis. A big upcoming Tax Day question is how many Americans with government-subsidized health insurance will find that they collected more in subsidies than they're qualified for and have to pay some of it back — and how many will find themselves in the opposite position, with the government owing them money. The Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that half of all subsidy-eligible households will be in the first boat, owing the government an average payment of $794. That situat...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: Tea Party first to cheer Cruz bid (quote by Jenny Beth) “He's a leader of the Tea Party in Washington, so it's not a surprise that Tea Party leaders are heaping praise on Sen. Ted Cruz's presidential announcement today. Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, was the first to embrace Cruz, noting his firm stands on conservative principles. "It's fitting that Sen. Ted Cruz is the first announced candidate in the GOP presidential field," Martin said in a statement. "In his two short years in the Senate, he has yielded to no one in championing the values of personal freedom, economic freedom and a debt-free ...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: Cruz to launch White House bid, will tea party go along? (Tea Party Patriots mentioned) “…While tea party leaders still like Cruz, they’re also looking elsewhere for 2016. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, regarded as a new voice and a Washington outsider, has drawn a passionate following, particularly in Iowa. Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who won the 2008 Iowa caucus, retains a loyal conservative following. Walker so far has pulled ahead of everyone, and held a telephone town hall last week with followers of one group, the Tea Party Patriots. Afterward, the group said on its website “there is perhaps no one the ...
