Washington, D.C.-based airline pilot Mario Lopes grabbed the opportunity to pilot a military flight to Norfolk, Virginia April 14 – the same day his son, 1st Lt. Mario Lopes, was scheduled to arrive home from Kuwait – on the off-chance his son was aboard and the pilot could surprise the military officer. Public schools that don’t comply with the Obama administration’s school lunch program rules are coming under fire from the federal government, which has announced plans to fine schools that “disregard” the program. The Washington Free Beacon has the details: The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food and Nutrition Service issued a proposed rule Monday to codify parts of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, which was championed by Mrs. Obama.
