BlueCross pulling out of Obamcare exchanges in Memphis, Nashville, Knoxville

Health insurer BlueCross Blueshield of Tennessee, also known as the “Volunteer State,” is not so eager any more to volunteer itself on a number of Tennessee Obamacare exchanges. The Commercial Appeal has the details: The insurer made “an extremely difficult but necessary decision” to leave the state’s three largest metro areas as it tries to manage its number of members to hit a break-even point amid three years of losses, said Roy Vaughn, chief communications officer of BCBST. “It’s not something we want to do but we believe we must look out for the health care and financial security for all the members that we serve,” Vaughn ...

Reps. Jordan, Pompeo: ‘The administration misled the public about the events in Benghazi’

House Benghazi Committee members Reps. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) and Mike Pompeo (R-Kansas) today released an addendum to the House Select Committee on Benghazi’s final report, as the two congressman believe the report released isn’t as hard-hitting as it ought to be. “Officials at the State Department, including Secretary Clinton, learned almost in real time that the attack in Benghazi was a terrorist attack. With the presidential election just 56 days away, rather than tell the American people the truth and increase the risk of losing an election, the administration told one story privately and a different story publicly. They publicly blamed ...

Hillary Clinton: The U.S. ‘didn’t lose a single person’ in Libya

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stirred up controversy earlier this week when she alleged no Americans were killed in Libya during her stint at the State Department and failed to point out the loss of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others during the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi in 2011. Fox News has the details:   "Now, is Libya perfect? It isn't," Clinton said. After contrasting her approach toward Libya with the ongoing bloodshed in Syria's civil war, Clinton said "Libya was a different kind of calculation and we didn't lose a single person ... We didn’t have a problem in supporting our European and Arab ...

5 Times Obamacare was terrible for America

It’s no surprise that President Obama set a red tape record this week, reaching 545,857 total pages of regulations since his administration began in 2009. What can you expect when a president’s landmark legislation saddled American businesses and families with a costly, complicated healthcare mandate? Whether it’s shutting down schools or closing your favorite local restaurant, Obamacare has been bad for America since it was signed into law more than five years ago. Here are five examples from this year showing how badly we need to repeal Obamacare. The healthcare mandate was too much for a Nashville, Tenn.-based deli that closed its ...

You Won’t Believe What Happened in GOP Conference Last Night

As you've probably heard from media reports by now, last night Rep. Paul Ryan gave a speech to his colleagues in the Republican Conference meeting that he would accept the job of Speaker of the House as long as he could be a unifying force AND as long as the 3 major factions in the House got behind him. Oh, and there's one other thing. He wants the Republican Conference to change the rules of the House to remove the power of Members to issue a motion to vacate the chair - which you'll recall is the mechanism that Mark Meadows of North Carolina used to ultimately force John Boehner to step down. So Paul Ryan wants to be Speaker as long as he can ...
