HEALTHCARE: CALPERS COULD OWE OBAMACARE $770 MILLION IN “CADILLAC TAX’ “California government entities and their unions are panicking because Obamacare’s punitive 40% “Cadillac Tax” beginning in 2018 will directly hit the low-deductible and broad-provider network type of “platinum” healthcare coverage that public employees have enjoyed under the California Public Employee Retirement System (CalPERS). With the Cadillac Tax estimated at $770 million, public employees face a radical change to “narrow networks” and up to 1,000 percent increase in annual healthcare deductibles. California public employee unions and CalPERS took a ...

HEALTHCARE: Immigrants baffled by HealthCare.gov lapse “HealthCare.gov is working better, but immigrants are running into what looks like an obvious slip-up. Call it the green card glitch: The website has no clear path to upload the government identification document that shows they are legal U.S. residents, and entitled to benefits under President Barack Obama's health care law. It's a baffling omission, say consumers and counselors assisting with this year's sign-up drive. "It doesn't list the green card as an option to upload," said Elizabeth Colvin of Foundation Communities, an Austin, Texas, group that serves low-income people, including ...

HEALTHCARE: One year in, Obamacare marketplace still subject to political spin (Features tweet from Jenny Beth) “One year after the disastrous launch of HealthCare.gov, the federal website that serves as the Obamacare hub for dozens of states, the views on the 2010 health care law are decidedly mixed. According to the CBS News/ New York Times poll released two weeks ago, 51 percent of Americans disapprove of the Affordable Care Act while 41 percent approve. The split comes down along partisan lines -- 83 percent of Republicans said they disapprove of the law, while 67 percent of Democrats approve of it. That partisan split may not be too ...

Lost: Congressional Town Hall Edition

Before 2009, Members of Congress regularly held traditional, open-question town halls for constituent discourse. Since the Tea Party disrupted the status quo in 2009, most Members have chosen to duck their constituents, engaging in dialogue with pre-picked individuals and holding micro-managed events. That trend continued during the August recess that ended this week. An estimated 130 out of 535 elected officials in Congress held town meetings, less than 25%. One of those who avoids his constituents is Congressman is Rep. Mike Simpson (R-ID), who held no town halls during August. According to Gem State Tea Party State Founder Chad Inman, this is ...

Tea Party Activists Take Obamacare-Light Republican to Task

On August 22, Congressman Leonard Lance (R-NJ) held a town hall in Long Hill Township. There, he faced MoveOn.org and SEIU activists – and a contingent of Tea Party activists. According to Morris County Tea Party leader Mahesh Ganorkar, the Congressman supports what Ganorkar calls a “revolving door” on Obamacare. “Congressman Lance said he wants to get rid of Obamacare, but also says he supports parts of Obamacare’s reform, including allowing kids to stay on parental health insurance until the age of 26 and eliminating pre-existing conditions.” “The Congressman said he will vote to defund Obamacare if a bill to do so came to the ...

Thank You to All Who Contributed to Saving Wisconsin

Last night in Wisconsin we saw history in the making. The special interests and unions were the clear losers in an effort to recall elected officials for keeping their promises. The thing is, the news media is absolutely shocked at the blow out that happened last night. First, we want to recognize some very special people who signed up through our website to contribute their time, their money, and their moral support for the efforts to stop the senseless recalls. Your support clearly had a major impact in what happened last night and we are extremely grateful. Thank you! Next, we want to thank the great patriots in Wisconsin for standing to ...

Snowe’s Green Energy Letter Nods Toward Cap and Trade

By Norma Green Senator Olympia Snowe’s (R-Maine) longstanding support for green energy opens up a raft of concern for those believing that government should not pick and choose winners. Aroostook Tea Party Patriots leader Rick Anderson believes that revamping America’s energy policy would adversely affect the economy.  Tea Party Patriots obtained a copy of a letter responding to Anderson’s concerns over the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009, H.R. 2454. Snowe, in a letter dated September 21, 2009, summarized the bill.  “Specifically, the bill would develop a cap and trade system beginning in 2009, which would gradually ...
