Hillary Loses First Primary of 2016

Jacksonville -- Republicans scored a big win in Florida this week. Big, that is, for anybody interested in beating Hillary Clinton next year. You know the syllogism. Anybody who wants to beat Hillary in 2016 must win Florida and there are only two ways to win Florida – the Bush way and the Obama way. You can run up Republican margins in the north and pare down Democratic margins in the south. That’s how Bush won here in 2000 and 2004. Or you can run up Democratic margins in the south and pare down Republican margins in the north. That’s how Obama won in 2008 and 2012. In 2012, those pared-down GOP margins in north Florida played a big part ...

Hillary’s Upward Failure

JACKSONVILLE – We have only nineteen months until Election Day. That’s a blink of an eye in the sweep of history, but a long, hard slog in a political campaign. It’s time to get to work. Our job between now and November 8, 2016 is to identify, nominate and elect a candidate who can a) defeat Hillary Clinton and b) serve as an effective, courageous and reliably conservative President. First things first. Will Hillary run? Rational analysis says no. She’s old, she’s tired and she gives every evidence of being an unhappy warrior. To her, those nineteen months may seem like nineteen years. Here she hasn’t even announced her candidacy and ...

HEALTHCARE: House Tea Party leader signs up for ObamaCare “One of ObamaCare’s staunchest foes in Congress acknowledged for the first time that he has purchased insurance at HealthCare.gov. “For the record, I am on ObamaCare. Yee-hah!” Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) said during a town-hall meeting on Thursday. “My wife complains about it all the time,” he said, according to the Clay Center Dispatch. The disclosure from the chairman of the House GOP’s Tea Party Caucus comes just days after another firebrand conservative, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), admitted that he was planning to enroll in insurance through ObamaCare…” http...

HEALTHCARE: Obamacare sign-ups hit technical snags on big weekend “The Obama administration says some people trying to sign up for health insurance ahead of a looming deadline are getting snagged by technical difficulties. Administration spokeswoman Katie Hill says some haven’t been able to get their income information electronically verified. That’s crucial because the amount of financial assistance to help pay premiums is based on people’s income. The IRS handles income verification for the HealthCare.gov website. The glitch seemed to be affecting people with new applications. People who previously submitted their income details - but ...

HEALTHCARE: ObamaCare fines rising in 2015, IRS prepares to collect “Don't have health insurance? Get ready to pay up.  The ObamaCare-mandated fines for not having insurance are rising in 2015 -- and for the first time, will be collected by the Internal Revenue Service. The individual requirement to buy health insurance went into effect earlier this year. But this coming tax season is the first time all taxpayers will have to report to the IRS whether they had health insurance for the prior year.  The fines for the 2014 year were relatively modest -- $95 per person or 1 percent of household income (above the threshold for filing taxes), ...

Don't expect a repeat of last year's website meltdown, but the new sign-up period could expose underlying problems with the law itself that are less easily fixed than a computer system. Tea Party leader: IRS scandal not “phony”

Last week, President Obama launched a series of economic speeches intended to draw attention to his alleged vision for the nation. In those speeches, he brushed off the series of scandals that have marred his Administration for the last year. While they weren’t named, one can easily theorize he meant the Benghazi cover-up, the IRS scandal, the NSA spying, and Fast & Furious. Three speeches were made last week by the President, and all three involved him calling any and all scandals “phony.” Consider: Wednesday’s speech: “But with this endless parade of distractions and political posturing and phony scandals, Washington has taken ...
