Major First Amendment Victory in Georgia!

You did it! Thanks to your efforts, the freedom of speech has been successfully defended in Georgia! In the dark of night, Georgia’s big-spending Republican establishment brazenly schemed to trample on the First Amendment and silence conservative organizations. In the Peach State, “bipartisanship” apparently means both parties team up to intimate grassroots activists, just like Lois Lerner and President Obama’s IRS. Senate Bill 217, was supposed to deal with ethics fines for politicians was arrogantly amended by the George House of Representative’s Rules Committee to silence pro-liberty organizations from communicating with voters ...

Statement of Jenny Beth Martin on Georgia SB 127

Politicians of both parties in the Georgia Legislature are conspiring to trample on the First Amendment, and it will be a sad day for liberty if this measure passes. It’s rare when politicians reach across the aisle; they’ve done so in Georgia, though, in hopes of treating grassroots activists the same way Lois Lerner and the Obama IRS have. They seek to intimidate concerned citizens and insulate themselves from accountability, and they’re doing it in a cowardly way, on the last day of the legislative session. They should know that we are watching. This bill is a travesty, and an arrogant, brazen assault on the First Amendment. All ...

Georgia Becomes First State to Pass Convention of States Application

Tea Party Patriots' home state of Georgia became the first state in the history of the United States to pass the Convention of States application, aimed at limiting the power and jurisdiction of the federal government. The Georgia House voted last week to pass the Senate's version of the legislation by a vote of 107-58. Under Article V of the Constitution, the founding document can be amended in two ways: either a vote of two-thirds of both houses of the U.S. Congress or a Convention of States can propose amendments, if two-thirds of the states submit applications for a convention that all address the same issue. The Convention of States project ...

HEALTHCARE: Overhead costs exploding under ObamaCare, study finds “Five years after the passage of ObamaCare, there is one expense that’s still causing sticker shock across the healthcare industry: overhead costs. The administrative costs for healthcare plans are expected to explode by more than a quarter of a trillion dollars over the next decade, according to a new study published by the Health Affairs blog. The $270 billion in new costs, for both private insurance companies and government programs, will be “over and above what would have been expected had the law not been enacted,” one of the authors, David Himmelstein, wrote Wednesday. ...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: GOP Praises Court Halting Amnesty: 'Impatient Presidents Don't Get to Change the Law'  “…Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, declared, "on to the Supreme Court." "The U.S. Constitution vests the Congress with authority over immigration and naturalization. And as U.S. District Judge Hanen pointed out, President Obama simply treated Congress — and Article 2 — as if they didn’t exist.  "We are a Constitutional Republic, not a banana republic," Martin added. "Our Constitution, with its three co-equal branches, is the roadmap for the governing process. "As much as this would-be imperial president ...

HEALTHCARE: As States Expand Medicaid, Unpaid Hospital Bills Disappear “With more states expanding Medicaid coverage under the Affordable Care Act, hospital operators are reporting fewer unpaid medical bills and falling charity and uncompensated care expenses. Under the health law, states have the option to expand Medicaid at little cost to the states. And more are doing so with Montana Gov. Steve Bullock last week signing a bipartisan legislation to expand Medicaid under the health law to more than 70,000 people. This, coupled by an improving economy, is boosting revenues for hospital companies like Community Health Systems (CYH), Tenet Healthc...

A large number of Republicans in Congress are on the fence on immigration and will listen carefully to their most determined ...
