Representative Royce (R, Ca) and colleagues are trying to say NO TO BONUSES FOR FREDDIE AND FANNIE EXECS, but could use some help.

Representative Edward Royce (40th Congressional District) expressed his outrage at bonuses for Fannie Mae and Ginnie Mac’s management, after both organizations appealed for billions from the government to cover operating losses. Incensed at this (effectively) taxpayer financed bonus program, he co-sponsored legislation that will prohibit these bonuses being paid. On November 4th, Rep. Royce, a senior member of the Financial Services Committee, said the following,”It appears the era of heads we win, tails the taxpayers lose isn’t over at Fannie and Freddie. At a time when all Americans are tightening their belts, it is disturbing that these ...

Chambliss and Isakson: Friends of Fannie and Freddie

One of Georgia's senators cosponsored an amendment to raise the federal home-loan guarantee limit, and both voted for it.  Georgia's Republican senators, Saxby Chambliss and Johnny Isakson, crossed the aisle October 20 to provide necessary votes for a measure to increase Fannie's and Freddie's limits for home loan guarantees. The amendment to an appropriations bill required the support of 60 senators to avoid the Senate's bill-killing filibuster rule. All Democrats and both Independents voted for passage but were eight votes short. Eight Republicans--including Chambliss and Isakson--stepped into the breach, voted "yea" and the amendment ...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: The Speaker strikes back (Op-ed by Jenny Beth Martin) “House Speaker John Boehner’s latest volley in his petty war against conservatives in the GOP conference – while saying much more about himself than the men he’s targeting – provides a great opportunity for a discussion about Congress’ stewardship of taxpayer dollars. In the aftermath of the failed attempt to displace him in January, Boehner moved into recrimination mode with considerable dispatch.  For his sin of allowing colleagues to place his name in nomination for speaker, Rep. Dan Webster (R-Fla.) was bounced from the Rules Committee, along with his ...

HEALTHCARE: House Tea Party leader signs up for ObamaCare “One of ObamaCare’s staunchest foes in Congress acknowledged for the first time that he has purchased insurance at HealthCare.gov. “For the record, I am on ObamaCare. Yee-hah!” Rep. Tim Huelskamp (R-Kan.) said during a town-hall meeting on Thursday. “My wife complains about it all the time,” he said, according to the Clay Center Dispatch. The disclosure from the chairman of the House GOP’s Tea Party Caucus comes just days after another firebrand conservative, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), admitted that he was planning to enroll in insurance through ObamaCare…” http...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: Tea Party first to cheer Cruz bid (quote by Jenny Beth) “He's a leader of the Tea Party in Washington, so it's not a surprise that Tea Party leaders are heaping praise on Sen. Ted Cruz's presidential announcement today. Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, was the first to embrace Cruz, noting his firm stands on conservative principles. "It's fitting that Sen. Ted Cruz is the first announced candidate in the GOP presidential field," Martin said in a statement. "In his two short years in the Senate, he has yielded to no one in championing the values of personal freedom, economic freedom and a debt-free ...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: Conservative groups wary of Obamacare contingency plans (Photo of Tea Party Patriots at SCOTUS rally / Quote by Kevin Broughton) “Conservative groups are suspicious of GOP plans to temporarily keep Obamacare's insurance subsidies flowing if they're blocked this summer by the Supreme Court. For years, groups such as Club for Growth, Heritage Action and Americans for Prosperity have hounded Congress to do all it can to undermine the Affordable Care Act. At times, lawmakers have even been forced to table Obamacare-related bills over complaints that they appeared to be improving the law instead of repealing it entirely. Now ...

HEALTHCARE: Obamacare Co-Ops Cost Taxpayers $17,000 Per Enrollee “More than 500,000 people enrolled in health plans offered by nonprofit insurance companies created under the Affordable Care Act. And with the co-ops receiving an average of $108.7 million from the federal government, taxpayer-backed funding per enrollee topped $17,000. Twenty-three co-ops received a total of $2.5 billion from the federal government and enrolled more than 520,000 people in plans through September. However, an analysis conducted by The Daily Signal published yesterday found that just one, Maine Community Health Options, was profitable last year. Using the latest ...

TEA PARTY PATRIOTS: It's Time to Pass the Lee Balanced Budget Amendment (Jenny Beth Martin’s op-ed) “With the president’s recent lawlessness on executive amnesty and GOP efforts to beat it back, it’s easy to forget that just three and a half years ago, we were on the cusp of a grand bargain. President Barack Obama and Speaker John A. Boehner would tackle a range of ever-present fiscal crises, everyone would make tough concessions, and the nation would be on sound fiscal footing for a generation. Alas, it was not to be. In a rare moment of fortitude, the speaker wouldn’t go along with the massive tax increases the president wanted. ...
