Statement on Keli Carender’s Resignation

Reluctantly, we have accepted the resignation of Keli Carender from her position with Tea Party Patriots. She’s moving on to become a full time mother to her daughter. She has been a vital member to our team for the last six years and we hate to see her go, but we wish her all the best as she pivots to focus more of her time to her family. Tea Party Patriots co-founder Jenny Beth Martin shared this message with fellow patriots: Keli Carender has been a trailblazer in our modern day tea party movement. She hosted the first Porkulus Protest in Seattle, WA to protest the stimulus bill before Rick Santelli had his infamous rant in Chicago, ...

Q&A with National Grassroots Coordinator Keli Carender

Today marks the sixth anniversary of the first wave of protests that grew into the Tea Party movement. We asked National Grassroots Coordinator Keli Carender to reflect on her involvement, and the strength of the movement today. Keli, you don’t necessarily fit the stereotypical conservative activist. Maybe your living in Seattle has something to do with that. Let’s start with how you got involved; did you have any background in political outreach? A few months before the first protest in 2009, I joined the Young Republicans in Seattle in order to meet some other young conservatives, but other than that I hadn't really ever been involved in ...

Keli Carender: Socialism, Seattle Style

The extended recession of the Obama administration and the sluggish economic recovery have spawned something of a faddish parlor game among the liberal intelligentsia; whether American capitalism has run its course and it’s time to usher in a socialist model of government. After all, with stubbornly high unemployment, workforce participation at historic lows and myriad compounding factors contributing to our economic woes, it must certainly mean that capitalism is dead. Or so we are told. One of the latest manifestations of this is the recent election of Kshama Sawant to the city council of Seattle, Washington. The 41-year-old native of India who ...

Happy Birthday to the Tea Party

Six years ago today, the modern Tea Party movement was born. Activists began to meet and put in place plans to take back our country from tax-and-spend politicians in Washington. We’ve come a long way since then, but none of it would have been possible without the hard work of our volunteers. Click here to read a Q&A with National Coordinator Keli Carender! We remain committed to our core principles of personal freedom, economic freedom, and a debt-free future. Tea Party Patriots believes in the Founding Fathers’ vision for this country, and will strive to fight for it every single day. Success isn’t solely measured in today’s ...

Bringing Tea Party Principles to America

With Election Day around the corner, it is more important than ever that Tea Party Patriot principles are brought to the fore of the public discussion. There are many ways to do this, and most of them originate at the local level, where creativity and dynamic thinking abound. However, coordinating all of these great ideas and efforts is important, and to that end Tea Party Patriots has created the Regional Support Team, which consists of five Regional Coordinators and one National Coordinator. As we come down the wire to Election Day, Tea Party Patriots will be highlighting the great work local and state-based groups are doing. These efforts are ...

Tea Party Patriots Comments on the Supposed ‘War on Women’

Today, Jenny Beth Martin and Keli Carender of Tea Party Patriots had the following comments on the supposed ‘war on women’: “Class warfare and now gender warfare.  President Obama has swapped ‘HOPE’ for ‘FEAR’ in his latest failed attempt to claim ownership of fleeing women voters.  Sorry, Mr. Obama, this woman's not buying it; because free-thinking American women are not the property of the Democratic Party,” said Jenny Beth Martin, Co-Founder and National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. “As a woman, I am deeply offended by President Obama, a man who patronizes and talks down to women, as if we only care about getting ...

Today’s Passionate Patriot: Judy Pepenella

All Tea Party Patriot activists sacrifice for the sake of the country. Phone banks, protests, traveling, and many other activities are prioritized over sitting on the couch enjoying a relaxing movie. Today’s Passionate Patriot, New York State Coordinator Judy Pepenella, epitomizes that sacrifice. Let me say up front that Judy didn’t want this post to be about her. According to Judy, the movement is about the country; she’s just a participant. But between her personal story and a spectacularly successful event this past weekend at The Long Island Fall Festival, Tea Party Patriot Regional Support Team member Keli Carender insisted that Judy ...

Patriots Watch Day Five: Videos 7-9

Brookfield, Wisconsin – The campaign to save Wisconsin and save the Country continues. Today we have three more interviews with activists on the ground. First up, Ken Potter, military veteran and Tea Party Patriot, who wants us to understand what it means to celebrate Memorial Day and points out how apropos it is to be campaigning to save Wisconsin over the Memorial Day Weekend. He correctly points out that Memorial Day celebrates our freedom to defend our country, a freedom he and fellow activists are enjoying as they go house to house educating voters about what is at stake in the June 5th election. http://youtu.be/NwUwFAxd5Z0 Second, ...

Balanced Budget Amendment Betrayal

The House Republican leadership has decided to bring the so-called "clean" Balanced Budget Amendment (BBA) up for a vote this week, despite all 47 GOP Senators and almost all of the coalition groups supporting the "strong" BBA. In a nutshell, the "clean" or "weak" BBA only requires a balanced budget. It places no caps on spending and would almost guarantee tax increases to balance the budget, because when was the last time you saw a politician willing to actually cut spending? The weak BBA would also allow judges to force Congress to raise taxes if the budget wasn’t balanced. Can you say activist judges?! Word on the street is that Boehner and ...
