Now Playing: Obamacare Commercials on Your Dime
Via Politico, $12 million in advertising is going to 12 Republican-dominated states to sell Obamacare:
The Obama administration is readying a multimillion-dollar onslaught of ads in a dozen red states to encourage Americans to sign up for Obamacare insurance exchanges, media-tracking sources tell POLITICO.
The Center for Medicare Services at the Dept. of Health and Human Services has reserved at least $12 million in airtime starting Sept. 30 in Texas, Florida, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana and Michigan.
All but one, Missouri, are led by Republican governors — including many who have been hostile to the health law — and even in Missouri, a Republican-dominated legislature has set an anti-Obamacare agenda.
The article implies the Administration is targeting these 12 states because they are Republican-dominated, but the issue is not so simple. All of these states turned down state-based exchanges, which means the Administration runs the exchanges there. With hundreds of millions of dollars in advertising money ready for the taking, the federal government has an interest in getting people enrolled in the exchanges… and spending taxpayer money to do it.
The Administration is essentially spending over $700 million as another investment in its ideological law, hoping to enroll millions of Americans in government programs.
The nation would be far better off if President Obama would join dozens of Representatives and 14 Senators in delaying his health care law instead of using propaganda to sell his law to a nation that doesn’t want it.
