Call to action: Stop the amnesty bill in the Senate
The gauntlet’s been thrown – Senator Reid (D-NV) is expected to call for a cloture vote tonight at 5:30 Eastern Time. This is barely three days after a “substitute bill” nearly 1,200 pages long was introduced.
Activists, it’s time to put a halt on this farce of a debate. While most of the new bill is the same disastrous legislation the Senate has been examining for weeks, a significant aspect has changed. As Senator Jeff Sessions’ (R-AL) office noted in an e-mail blast:
While the bill retains virtually 100% of its original fatal flaws, changes from the Schumer-Corker-Hoeven amendment are spread throughout and must each be carefully analyzed.
Does this whole process sound familiar? If so, it’s because the bill is disastrously similar to how Obamacare was passed, complete with no time to read and understand what’s actually going to happen if it becomes law.
It’s time to put fear of the American people into your Senators. Burn up the phone lines. Tell them you don’t want a bill that expands the federal bureaucracy, is dishonest on its fiscal implications, and allows millions of people to be rewarded for breaking the law. Tell them you want Senators to represent the people, not the aspirations of well-fed Republican and Democratic strategists and politicians in the Beltway. Tell them you will hold them responsible for their votes at town halls, in the media, and at the voting booth.
