Tea Party Patriots apologizes to Karl Rove for Inappropriate Portrayal
February 19, 2013 at 3:27 pm in News by Tea Party Patriots 54 Comments
Earlier today, an e-mail under the Tea Party Patriots banner included a photo-shopped image of Karl Rove in a Nazi uniform. This image was not approved by Tea Party Patriots, and the e-mail approved by Tea Party Patriots did not include the image.
Tea Party Patriots has expressed an apology to Mr. Rove for this unacceptable imagery, and is implementing stricter controls to ensure such an error does not happen again. Active Engagement, L.L.C., which sent the e-mail, has accepted full responsibility for the accidental inclusion of the image.
Tea Party Patriots’ full statement is below, as is Active Engagement, L.L.C.’s full apology and statement.
Tea Party Patriots Statement:
In an email sent under the banner of Tea Party Patriots, a manufactured image of Karl Rove was added to the email which Tea Party Patriots did not know about or approve. The image, which was added by an outside vendor Active Engagement, L.L.C., was inappropriate, wrong and we have ordered the vendor Active Engagement, L.L.C. to immediately cease further use of the image.
We apologize to Mr. Rove. While we may have strong disagreements with Mr. Rove on the future of conservatism, we want to be clear this imagery is absolutely unacceptable and are working to ensure this type of mistake doesn’t happen again.
Active Engagement Statement:
An email that was sent earlier today under the banner of Tea Party Patriots included an offensive image of Karl Rove. The image was obviously a photo shopped image of Mr. Rove, a well-known political figure. The image was selected in error from an extensive group of images available publicly online and was adjacent to the image that Tea Party Patriots approved for use. The email that included the image was not approved by Tea Party Patriots. Active Engagement, L.L.C. takes full responsibility for this error and is attempting to contact everyone who received the image to explain the error. More importantly, Active Engagement, L.L.C. apologizes to Mr. Rove for this mistake. Active Engagement, L.L.C. does not believe there is any place in political discourse for images such as these.

I agree with the apology. It really demonstrates your ignorance when you compare fellow Americans as Nazis.
Hellfire,
Some Americans ARE nazis, some with a capital N. I don’t think Rove is one of them.
What’s ignorant and wrong is characterizing someone as a Nazi when they aren’t… didn’t Nancy Pelosi refer to Tea Party people as Nazis? It’s typical of progressives to sling the Nazi label.
The Nazi’s begin with DE and run DC
You seem to spend a lot of time finding fault with the Tea Party.
Karl Rove is a neocon piece of garbage. The Tea Party Patriots should be loyal to real conservatives like Ron Paul.
I’m tired the Karl Rove bashing! These people claim to be RP supporters who do this, but they are not, they are Obama supporters… Progressive liberals, and they do this to divide us, and so far, most of you fall for it. How about we concentrate on who the TRUE enemy is. It is not Karl Rove or the Republicans. The True Enemy is the one’s that the so called RP supporters never trash, which leads me to believe they are really Obama supporters.
Our country’s freedoms and liberties are at stake and we have to focus on the TRUE enemy, and stop falling for the distractions put in place by Sorros and the rest of the Obama progressives. We have bigger issues to worry about. We have a nazi and his regime in the WH, and people are wasting their time and ours with this type of childish ignorance. Let’s focus on the Real Enemy, and it is not Karl Rove or Republicans. It’s not Democrats. It is the Progressive, Communist, Obama bunch.
And there you have it…DJ, yet another class act, responds to a post apologizing for calling someone a Nazi by calling the President of the United States a Nazi. Ding!
The true enemy is the people on our side who actively work to undermine our movement while pretending to be one of us or sympathetic with us.
I couldn’t agree with you more. I too disagree with a lot of what Karl Rove has said, but he is far from the villain we should fear. That is Obama and his far left progressives. I believe Karl is a Republican first and foremost. We should realize that and work with him to propel our agenda.
Brilliant. In response to a post apologizing for calling someone a Nazi, you call him “a piece of garbage.” Y’all just really don’t get that this is one (of many, many) reasons why the tea party has become a national joke, do you? You sit in your lonely kitchenette, at your peeling Formica table, alone in the dim glow of the computer you finally sort-of learned how to use last year, and you spew insults and lies and utter nonsense all over the internet. In a kinder, gentler era one would have asked you “does your mother know you talk like that?” Does it make you feel empowered, alone there in your sad little kitchenette, to say things about people that you wouldn’t have the courage to say to their faces? Sad, really sad little man.
Well, you’re quite the bigot, aren’t you?
Bob,
Read your own words and laugh with me at the irony of your own faux pas.
In all serious intent, when one considers the tactics, objectives, intent, and amoral fanaticism, one cannot compare any American conservative to a nationalist-socialist, however, the current dominant party is not so comfortable to compare.
In that mind, I apologize to any old nazi’s for being so missunderstood asto be likened to the likes of a political aparatchik as Karl Rove.
Loon – Last time i checked Karl Rove wasn’t putting people in ovens.
On a different note – where is the talk about the sequestration? This is big news and the Tea Party Patriots has no comment? I guess it’s more concerned about getting donations.
Sequestration? That’s old news. They knew it was coming ever since they passed the law requiring it, more than a year ago. It’s a smokescreen.
National Socialist, World Socialist, Progressive- what’s the difference? Just the degree of despotism and evil?
Hellfire-
Do some homework. There was a lot more to being a Nazi (national socialist) than just putting people in ovens. Karl Rove is a fascist piece of garbage, just like the Bushes. All of them lied about the WMDs in Iraq. Pure crap of people.
Rove is conservative-in-name-only (CINO); a closet Democrat. But no one can speak for THE Tea Party. There is no such single entity. This certain group of unknown size is speaking for its self as one of dozens under the Tea Party umbrella of constitutional conservatives. News media always present each voice as the voice of the whole as do many comments on the various webpages.
Hellfire,
We have covered this a lot over the last couple of months. Here are posts talking about sequestration since February 14:
Senate Democrats talk about replacing sequestration with tax cuts: https://www.teapartypatriots.org/2013/02/senate-democrats-aim-to-replace-sequestration-with-tax-hikes/
Senate Democrats put forth a plan to talk about replacing sequestration with tax cuts: https://www.teapartypatriots.org/2013/02/senate-democrats-want-to-have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too/
Correcting the President’s SOTU speech: https://www.teapartypatriots.org/2013/02/president-obamas-state-of-the-union-address-promises-full-speed-ahead-to-a-fiscal-crisis/
Sequestration is touched on here: https://www.teapartypatriots.org/2013/02/president-obama-working-with-a-bite-size-budget/
PolitiFact and the President’s SOTU speech: https://www.teapartypatriots.org/2013/02/politifact-stretches-half-true-in-examining-rubios-sequestration-claims/
And they were touched on just this morning: https://www.teapartypatriots.org/2013/02/rep-nancy-pelosi-d-ca-says-congressional-pay-shows-dignity-of-the-job/
Dustin – Thanks for the reply. I stand corrected! Looks like the Tea Party supports the sequestration. My fear is the sequestration will result in an economic downturn and in return hurt the conservative movement. At the end the American people will blame the Republicans not the President.
This is a movement for principled people. If you think that the ineffable opinions of mysterious others are the first concern, then this movement is not for you and you should not be posting here.
Hbeachrealist….ya’ll need to get over the Bush lied about the WMD’s. The farking WMD’s were there! If they weren’t why did the democrats screech about them for 8 years before Bush set foot in the White House. WERE THEY LYING? The minute our soldiers landed, Saddam trucked them across the border to Syria. That’s why our soldiers are sitting on the Jordanian/Syrian border making sure they don’t move again! I’m not objecting to anything put out about Karl Rove…he is just a RHINO socialist lite pushing more RHINO socialist lite candidates.
.We projected our punch for 6 months leading up to the invasion. alot can be outsourced buried or sold in 6 months. The russians and french were trucking through in the months leading up to our invasion. It was found alot of dealings were being done against the UN resolutions involving germany france russia to name a few even the UN broke its resolutions. Some weapons have a shelf life so they need to be mixed just before use. those were found without the main ingredient in the tunnel from the euphrates to the bagdad airport.
I really enjoy that you guys are attempting to destroy your own people. Good luck with that!
Hillbillys fight with each other and so do cowboys. but I dare you to show up in their territory and start something because they will close ranks and hogtie you.Thats fun to watch too
I agree totally with DJ. Carl Rove has also raised millions of dollars in support of Tea Party Candidates in the past elections. Why would anyone attack him as a Nazi, when he is just the opposite. I am also highly upset with the email I received today from Jenny Beth Mcfarland asking for donations in order to go after Mr. Rove..I am rethinking my association with the Tea Party Patriots. Why on earth would we let our selves get side tracked away from the very real dangers of dealing with what our current President, and his associates are trying to do to our Country.
The Karl Rove – Tea Party flap perfectly illustrates why conservatives lose and liberals win. Conservatives cannot get past the differences between themselves to accomplish the larger goal of defeating obama and demo-crats. Liberals are fully united with destroying conservatives and no matter how much they disagree that does not stop them from a united attack on the larger enemy-conservative Americans. So we keep on attacking each other and our individual freedom keeps on shrinking as the obama liberals win. Sounds like we have a problem “houston!”
AMEN. WELL SAID!!!
Rove is NOT Conservative. He is no different from a Liberal crookster.
You are right, MJRDM, well said. Libbies ARE united against “their enemy,” which is us conservatives. Heck, if one of theirs is a pedophile, they still remain loyal to him. Look how they remained loyal to Anthony’s Weiner—until the shaved & erect picture was outed!! But no, we eat our own.
I’ve always defended the Tea Party & identified myself as one if asked. (I’m handicapped & not mobile, so don’t attend functions–but I once believed in them.) I’m disappointed in TPP & am going to remove myself from their distribution list. I no longer identify with them. I almost think the libs have it right—they ARE looking like EXTREMES & they certainly are why we keep losing to EXTREME socialist-leaning Liberals like Obama & many of the Democrats (not all). I’m tired of the real enemies of Conservatives, like John McCain. A recent example of his betrayal is how he went against Ted Cruz in the Hagel hearings, basically putting Cruz down for be concerned that Hagel wouldn’t provide where his payment for speeches came from, insinuating they could be from our enemies (& they likely were.)
Karl Rove & Crossroads donated MORE than any Conservative group did to the Tea Party candidates. All Rove is doing is ensuring we don’t have unelectables like Akin & Murdock. Those two had no business running or staying in the running once they said stupid things. And don’t be mistaken, I am pro-life under ALL circumstances. Life is life no matter what circumstances a baby (life) is brought about. I want small govt, less spending, tax reform, etc. But I’m so tired of this Rove-bashing. Liberals HATE Rove with a passion, probably more than most Conservatives. I think that alone is a pretty good sign he’s the opposite of a Liberal. The people griping about Rove are either true Progressives or dumb & don’t do their research. I’m sure I don’t agree with everything with Rove, but none of us agree 100% with one another. Good luck winning any campaign if that is what you’re looking for.
I just can’t believe the TPP. I wonder if the Tea Party, as a whole, is taking this same stance on Rove? The TP candidates that won (Cruz, Rubio, & others…forget the names) surely aren’t against him. Like I said, he was the highest contributor to TP candidates & in some cases, the TP backed bigger govt candidates.
Something is weird. I don’t want to be like THIS TP & have a knee-jerk reaction, I’ll research a bit more…but from what I’m seeing…it’s a mistake to go against Rove. Right now I’d say it’s also a mistake to go against the TP, but in my book…..Rove is acting more like a conservative & has a better plan in beating Obama & his cult….the TPP are going down a road of the Ron Paul people….losers.
No, the real problem that we have is the presence of collaborators on the right.
The sad thing is, a lot of Tea Party types out there use name-calling all the time. Sometimes it’s socialist, or communist, or Marxist – or fascist for some reason – but it’s done way too much for reasonable people to take the Tea Party seriously.
Tea Party people don’t disagree with Karl Rove. They don’t understand his actions. Mr Rove does not embrace all Tea Party issues, small government being one of them (as witnessed by the GWB administration). However having public disputes about the best candidates is not helpful.
Most Tea Party types (I’m one) are neophytes in the arena of politics. Mr. Rove is not.
He advised against a number of truly conservative folks when he knew they would not win.
They did. He’s not Nate Silver, but no one has better instincts.
Should we listen to his advice on how to elect someone? What if he knows a Tea Party
candidate will get trounced in the general election? Ignore Karl Rove and continue
to be a minority party.
Mr. Rove must also learn that giant government is bad for America. It’s not JUST
about electing someone. We must find excellent people that can be elected.
The Republican party’s conundrum is expressed in this question:
Would you rather have Warren or Brown? Snowe or King?
That’s a tough question, but y’all have to address it.
I support both the Tea Party and Karl Rove 100%. Now grow up and get on
with the mission of reclaiming America.
Another good reply to this.
It’s highly doubtful you are a real Tea Partier. A real Tea Partier, for starters, would not say that Tea Partiers don’t disagree with Rove, except for that “small government” thing. That’s core.
Good grief, when the leftists on this site are showing more integrity about revealing themselves than the establishment, that really tells us about the establishment’s total lack of character and why they must be removed root and branch from the right.
Republicans continue to shoot themselves. I agree with the person who said that liberals will coalesce to defeat a conservative, but conservatives will not to defeat a liberal until they have destroyed another Republican first.
Alos, Tea Party should not use a group that keeps a picture of Rove as a Nazi in the next column and mistakes which column they use to get a picture.
Karl Rove and most Republicans ARE like Nazis because they want our military-industrial complex to be accuser, judge, jury and executioner of people who are innocent until proven guilty. I’m sorry you’re sorry about Rove as a Nazi. It’s past time to get tough on bad politicians such as Rove. CONSTITUTION OR BUST!!!!!!!
Karl Rowe and his crowd gave us Bob Dole, John McCain, and Romney. What does that make him. He wants to manipulate behind the scenes and just now has been force to come out of the closet and show his real side. What does that make him.
When I heard and saw McCain today just shut down that citizen over immigration, that tells you more than a picture.
McCain has got to go. He really angered me how he sided with the Democrats during the Hagel hearing in condemning Ted Cruz questioning Hagel’s reason for not disclosing requested information. Ugh….McCain…sickening.
Whoever portrayed Karl Rove as a Nazi is clearly not helping the Tea Party movement but is actually hurting the movement’s cause. The Tea Party was quick to address the issue, but sadly, the Leftist media will attempt to use the incident. While we may not agree with Rove on what defines conservatism, he certainly has not done anything, as far as we know, to deserve being called or compared to a Nazi.
We can call Rove a coward or even a conspirator, but certainly not a Nazi.
There indeed may be organizations and even individual men and women who rightfully deserve being compared to Nazis, fascists, communists, and even terrorists, but Rove does not appear to qualify being compared to any of the above.
As far as conservatism goes, there are those who may be fiscally conservative yet socially liberal, those who are socially conservative yet fiscally liberal. There are those who may be conservative on foreign policy yet liberal when it comes to everything else. Same goes for gun rights, immigration etc. And then, there are those who are conservative when it comes to every issue that there could be.
I would consider myself “conservative” in every way, but in truth, I bear no loyalty to any particular political party or movement. I may be a registered Republican, but at heart, I would consider myself an Independent because I have no trust in any political party no matter what they call themselves be they Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, etc.
There is only one form of authority that can be trusted and it is one whose teachings, promises, and laws are not subject to change as He Himself does not change (Mal. 3:6) but remains the same (Heb. 13:8) and because He remains the same, so His promises never fail, and His teachings and principles transcend every age and generation. The most important change needed today in our nation is one that is foundational to changes needed in all matters affecting us today and that is that we need to seek out our Maker; the very God by whose Word the universe and all that is therein was made, by whose power many wondrous works have witnessed, by whose hand history has been shaped, by whose blood salvation for our souls has been made possible if we would but repent of our sins and call on His name, and whose coming reign upon this earth will be flawless, and who will one day make a new universe in which does not exist the miseries, evils, sufferings, and hardships of this present world.
For if we will look to our Maker, not only will we find salvation for our souls, but healing and renewal for our nation.
I am pro Tea Party. I like what the Tea Party stands for. But I am absolutely disgusted with the portrayal of Karl Rove as a Nazi SS. I don’t buy your excuse and the worse part is, that neither anybody else.
You don’t represent the Tea Party and I am sure that most Tea Partiers, like me, are absolutely sick of what you have done. You have done irreparable damage to the Tea Party brand.
I will never visit you or read you again, until I hear that you have suspended any relationship with the culprits of this deed, whether from inside or outside.
Bye bye. Don’t let the door hit you and all that.
I hope after this experience, that you are actively looking for another company to do your distribution other than Active Engagement, L.L.C.
Make no mistake, the TEA Party is NOT considered a national joke, and we ARE being taken seriously. Otherwise, Karl Rove and other liberal Republicans and liberal Democrats would not be so focused on us.
The core TEA Party objective is to eliminate the generational theft that establishment Republicans and Democrats both sustain through ever increasing deficits and debt, and to stop the centralization of private assets into the public coffers through ever increasing taxes.
The TEA Party is not one voice. It’s not Republican. It’s not Democrat. And it’s not complicated. We demand fiscal responsibility in a constitutionally limited government that stays out of the way of a free market economy. It’s that simple.
And we are not going away!
Well done, conservatives. You’ve given the liberal media even more fodder. As we continue to argue about who’s conservative enough to gain our vote, Obama and the left are destroying the economy. During the last two presidential election cycles, every single person who started to bash conservatives for not being “conservative” enough ended up voting for Obama. And please, no flaming that you were the “one” who didn’t vote for Obama. Face it, he’s convinced most of the low information voters in this country that his (free) cell phones are the way to prosperity.
Well said, Jack. I couldn’t agree more.
We in the TPP have to be so careful now that when we even hand a copy to an outside contractor to finish, the process is taken advantage of against the Tea Party Patriots. The TPP would never stoop to such a tactic as Rove in a Nazi uniform, but sadly there are even those who would pull a trick to hurt us even on this posts.
Yes, even those whose principles are such that they hang around to take cheap shots at an innocent mistake on our part.
Yes! You hit the nail on the head. There sure are a lot of trolls on this thread, “Tea Partiers” who seem strangely more outraged about the mocking of Karl Rove than what Karl Rove has done and plans to do to the Tea Party. I find that quite strange.
It does appear that incoming contributions have accelerated, and although still short of the million-dollar goal, TPP’s last solicitation showed they’ve tripled these past two days. One can never predict the consequences of any outrageous innocent mistake.
Instead of bashing people that we feel don’t completely agree with us, such as Karl Rove, we should work with them and their power base to help us do the best possible in getting our people elected. Let’s be realistic we did pick a couple of losers in the 2010 election. If we had screened them better and had chosen better people, we wouldn’t have Harry Reid right now.
It’s easier to catch flies with honey. So lets try and convince these Republicans to be more conservative and to move back to their grass roots.
May I please remind everyone that the Nazis were people of the LEFT. I know it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that Fascists are Right-Wingers, but they are Corporatist Socialists = Lefties.
Extreme Right Wingers are Anarchists = the real, serious, actual “no government” radicals. Not the pretend “anarchists” of “Occupy Wall Street” playacting.
Extreme Left Wingers are “All Government All The Time” Communists/Fascists.
If you positively have to assign a spot for Karl on the spectrum…it’s definitely on the Left side of center.
He’s all for big government, as long as the guys with the “R” next to their name are running it.
So, calling him a Nazi is obviously extreme, since history mostly identifies them with killing millions of innocent Jews et al. But you can’t actually deny, communism/fascism is sort of the intellectual company he keeps.
Just sayin’
When a man with karl Rove’s status bashes a Republican Candidate running for the Senate, Helping to create his defeat deserves all heat pointed in his direction.
Karl Rove is the puppet-master behind Graham’s and McCain’s backstabbing comments about Rand Paul’s response to the Administration’s equivocations about the constitutionality of one aspect of the ‘drone program.’ Karl doles out others’ money to further the RINO cause … and is diametrically opposed to real conservatism. Karl is attempting to co-opt conservatism today to forestall further success by Tea Party patriots working towards the 2014 primaries.
Wm said it all on 20 Feb, above.
