We need more leaders like this

Via Politico, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) says it better than I can:
In remarks to the Charleston Meeting, a gathering of conservative leaders in the first-in-the-South presidential primary state, Paul rebuked the House for its plans to delay the debt limit fight by a few months. Republicans intend to vote this week on raising the country’s statutory debt limit to delay a spending standoff with the White House by about three months.
Specifically, Senator Paul called out Speaker Boehner and the House GOP leadership:
“I saw the speaker on TV handing the newly sworn-in president a flag. I am afraid it was the white flag of surrender,” the Kentucky Republican said, according to a GOP source present at the meeting.
Alluding to the House GOP’s gathering last week in Williamsburg, Va., Paul jabbed: “They came out of their retreat and retreated.”
Of course, Politico frames the Senator as “confrontational,” and repeats a Democratic Party attack that hitting the debt ceiling would “trigger a national default.” Never mind he’s one of the few doing what is necessary to avoid a debt-triggered fiscal collapse:
In South Carolina Monday, he spoke at length about the need to home in on spending and debt as the country’s chief challenges. His remarks on the debt ceiling put him squarely on the conservative, confrontational side of the GOP’s internal debate over how aggressively to use the borrowing limit as leverage against the White House. Obama has said he will not negotiate over the debt ceiling and Democrats have derided Republicans as “hostage-takers” for threatening to trigger a national default.
The Senator swung around to the budget creation process (or, in the Senate, the unlawful lack of) as well:
Paul also warned the GOP against making concessions to Senate Democrats in exchange for the Democratic-held chamber passing a budget. The Senate has not passed a budget since 2009. New York Sen. Chuck Schumer, a senior Democrat, said that would change this year but that any spending plan would “include revenues” from tax reform.
This is exactly the kind of leadership America needs. No more of this “go along to get along” attitude by fiscal conservatives. We need to stand strong for the future of the nation, otherwise we can look forward to the joys of higher taxes, limited retirements, high unemployment, and observance of the end of America’s greatness around the world.
Democrats seem intent on garnering political advantage regardless of the national cost. Republicans would be wise to follow Senator Paul’s advice as the debt ceiling gets closer once more.

The Mongols were a nation of horsemen, skilled riders, effective warriors, and excellent survivalists of the steppes they inhabited.
While in very fast attacks and retreats, they were known to drink horse-blood and eat raw horse-meat pulverized with garlic and onion under their saddles a tough outfit, always moving, this was war-parties, when the tribe moved en masse their diet was somewhat more common.
The point I wish to make is they never ate the horse they rode.
When the sole solution offered by the current crop of progressives is to bleed the private sector, you think someone out to tell them that once you steal the little kids lunch money–he ain’t got it no more?
This man should commended for his efforts to bring out the fight in his fellow colleagues. I just wonder when some of them will eventually get up from being knocked down, dust themselves off and fight for our beliefs and values, fight for whats right and wrong, fight for AMERICA!! There’s always something to be said about america’s men and womens willingness to fight for what they believe in it is our duty as an “American citizen”. Our brave sons and daughters do it day in and day out over seas for what to come home to a country that was given away.. I don’t think so. Senator Paul and a handful of others are the soldiers of Washington fighting the good fight!! The right fight!!
So i guess we are now standing behind Rand Paul??? We’ll see what happens when push comes to shove. I really wonder if Rand Paul will stand behind the Republican elite job creators with the deep pockets or the common white person? At least he wants to get rid of Social Security and Medicare. All you current recipients better watch out if he wins in 2016!
Hellfire / Why not just let (King) Obama continue, after all the past four years have been just wonderful for the country.
TrueAmerican — what happen to all the other Tea Party favorites? You can believe in these RINO’s but I’m not falling for this song and dance.
Our political system needs a big enema, very little hope for we the people, at least for the present time.
Why do we need to force the senate to pass a budget? If they are not compelled to be fiscally responsible they are to far gone from ethics and have know moral compass, and have forgotten or never known how to earn a honest pay check. I fear we conservatives are fighting a losing battle, Oboma has been training for these battles his whole life raised by communist grandparents joined with a communist mentor. With the media in his corner he can spin anything, he even used his lack of engagement with the obvious growing threat in Benghazi to divide the nation. He gives good speech, as long as the uninformed listen to him and pay little or no attention to his or his administrations actions and the conservatives can not unite the republican party. the Imperial president will fundamentally transform country and the dreams of his father will be realized. God bless Rand Paul.
Hellfire… I don’t understand two of your comments: First “elite job creators” are there non-elite job creators? Second my favorite “Common white person” are there uncommon white people? Educate us all because it seems to me your enlightenment can save us all.
Tony – I’m sure most people understand what I wrote, but for you I will be more clear. The Republican elite job creators are the people like Mitt and and country club establishment. The common white person is white conservatives not the deadbeat moochers.
Also, it says a lot about of Rand Paul when his teenage son is arrested for drunk disorderly conduct on commercial flight. His kid seems like one of the Republican elites especially after the police reduce or drop the charges.
You have a child. Naturally, you want the best for your child.
If your child becomes educated and highly successful and earns the luxury of spending a lot of time on yachts and at country clubs and drives an expensive BMW, are you going to say the same thing about your child that you say about Mitt Romney?
If your child won the lottery and bought a yacht and joined a country club and bought an expensive BMW, would you say the same thing about your child you say about Mitt Romney?
I grew up on a 20-acre subsistence farm being one of five children of semi-literate parents. I now am what the Democrats want to call “rich”, spend some time on yachts, belong to a country club with millionaires, and have 3 show motorcycles, the average worth over 40,000 dollars, in addition to a very nice piece of land and house, a very nice car, very nice pickup truck, and a very nice car for my wife.
Do you have the same thing to say about me that you say about Mitt Romney?
DB – Actually you are not even close to Mitt, and it is laughable you even consider yourself in the same tier with him. Unless you are actually a billionaire? But sounds like you and I are in the same boat and will not need to rely on the government to take care of us.
So now do you think Mitt was a good choice as a Presidential candidate?
No more debt. Not for any reason. Make the government grow up and live within the means the economy can reasonably be expected to afford.
Shut the govenment down if it can’t budget itself. If there is no budget, there is no plan for government. If there’s no plan for government, shut it down until they develop a plan.
Just do what the Constitution says. It’s that simple.
NO MORE DEBT. NOT FOR ANY REASON. Cut what needs to be cut to get spending under control.
Disillusioned and DONE with GOP. Also I’m skeptical of any group who would want my support at this point. I wasted five hours of H. Clinton’s testimony and arrived at the conclusion that not only Did McConnell and Boehner failed to lead the GOP in organizing and preparing members to participate in the Senate/House committee hearings, but he members themselves were ill-prepared and preoccupied with self-aggrandizement and grandstanding. H. Clinton’s testimony as expected was scripted and bolstered by gushing Democrat members. The 44th President and his administration have successfully achieved a coverup the likes of Iran Contra that cost the lives of one US Ambassador, two distinguished seals and a USAID staffer. We are witnessing this President’s support of the Muslim Brotherhood throughout the Mideast, arming them with 20 F16 jet fighters and 200 Abrams tanks. This President has wittingly out maneuvered our closest ally in the Mideast by arming their enemies. All while the GOP is sucking their thumbs. I’ve watched the GOP’s feeble presidential election, their feckless opposition to the fiscal cliff negotiations, and now a 4-month extension on debt ceiling negotiations. Where is the GOP leadership? I’m done. No more contributions or time. I’ve changed my voter registration to Independent and will participate in the Patriot Town Hall meeting as a last ditch effort and will cautiously gauge my further participation in any political group.
I see so anyone who has more success then you and has a club membership and anyone who makes mistakes and doesn’t pay enough for it in your eyes is no good… Wow I tell you what work smarter and you’ll be more successful, get a $20 a month gym membership and you’ve got the club thing all wrapped up. Oh by the way have a drink or beer and relax not everyone needs to go to the gallows for the mistakes.
I believe the real term your looking for is “shuck and jive” not “song and dance” because it sounds to me someone’s drinking the Kool-aid
Good Solider Tony – You can continue believing the RINO’s have your best interest in place. You also probably thought Mitt was a great Presidential candidate too. Keep up your positive thinking and see how that gets you. Obama and the Democrats have been kicking our butts. Our base is getting older and dying off while the Liberals are growing in numbers.
Excuse me if I don’t believe in your new savior Rand Paul who to me is just another RINO.
Your excused.. I don’t believe I’ve said you need to think like me nor did i say Senator Paul was a savior for me or you. One thing is clear your truly spun to tight ease off the pedal buddy
but I’m also interested in is since everyone is to rich or a RINO what’s your suggestion of a great presidential candidate.
Personally, I like someone like Lt. Col. Allen West. It is just too bad the Democrats beat him in Florida.
But at least none of Mitt’s sons were ever arrested for underage drinking, disorderly conduct and assaulting a flight attendant at age 19. I can say Mitt raised his kids to be decent citizens. Also, I don’t have anything against the super rich, but have enough sense to know their priorities are not the same as mine. Look at Mitch McConnell making $24 million in the past 6 years on a $193,000 salary during the worst recession since the 1930′s.
My comment is under moderation, but i wrote someone like Lt. Col. Allen West, a true American who fought for this country. Too bad the Democrats beat him in Florida.
Yes indeed a true American and it is unfortunate he was defeated but there is one more unfortunate aspect about Lt Col West… How does an Black Conservative American work for America if it can’t work in Florida. Anytime a intelligent, articulate black conservative rises up he or she is black-balled by the liberal media. This doesn’t appeal to the kool-aid drinkers because they don’t have Jay-Z endorsement’s.
All of the Republican Senators need to go home and hold townhall meetings and find out what their constituents want and not ASSUME we want what they are pushing. This is why they lost the elections and why the Tea Party made so many gains. I too want the hear more about each one of those who were elected and supported by the Tea Parties to make sure that we haven’t been duped by a wolf in sheep clothing.
