Tennessee governor opposes Obamacare state exchange
December 15, 2012 at 5:28 pm in News, ObamaCare by Tea Party Patriots 10 Comments

On Monday, fantastic news came across the desk of Tea Party Patriots: Tennessee governor Bill Haslam has rejected the Affordable Care Act’s exchanges for his state.
As we discussed on this blog on Monday, there are only a few states that have yet to make a decision on how they will move forward with state exchanges. With 21 states having decided to force the inept and unprepared federal government to take responsibility for the exchanges, this is big news for activists and Obamacare alike. For activists, it’s a reason to keep up pressure on the remaining eight undecided states to not enact exchanges. For Obamacare, it’s another nail in the proverbial coffin.
Less welcome on Monday was the announcement that West Virginia will partner with the federal government for its exchange. However, this loss should not overshadow the great victory in Tennessee, especially since Tea Party activists have strongly influenced Governor Haslam’s decision. Via Breitbart:
The surprise decision was seen as a political victory for Tennessee tea party groups, which held a rally last week on the grounds of the State Capitol in Nashville to proclaim their opposition to the establishment of a health care exchange by the state.
In the last few weeks, both major parties and the media have tried to say the Tea Party is dead and gone. Our victory on Monday, and continued victories in other states regarding the exchanges, prove that the establishment is as clueless as ever.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sure glad the Tea Party there got on the street and did something. They haven’t done anythign where I live for a couple of years.
However your part about
“With 21 states having decided to force the inept and unprepared federal government to take responsibility for the exchanges” is incorrect.
I work in IT. Creating exchanges for the states that don’t do their own is not a problem for the Feds. The only diofference between the states is the name of the state on the top of the web page and the companies participating and policy features. Everything else is the same….name, address, SS#, payment method, etc.
So you get one site working, call it state X, then you copy it and name it Ohio or whatever. You load the database for the state and you are done. Three programmers could do it in a day.
It’s a lot like the difference on Amazon between the the books and the music site. If the Feds are smart they purchased a shell application from a commercial vendor ( there are lots) and are just customizing it.
Way to be part of the problem jackass. Even if you don’t take care of it, the federal government will do it for you. So drag your feet all you want.
The Tea Party is America’s last hope before Obama’s Army of Moochers turn us all into Greece.
Hellfire,
That’s why we keed to know what we are talking about before we say it. From an IT perspective it doesn’t matter who sets up the Insurance Exchanges.
IT isn’t the issue, it is how much money the Gov can force the state to pay for it, why any state would take on that is beyond me, they should all tell the Feds to go stuff themself, and do what Montana has done, and outlaw the law.
Bruke,
You information is not correct. The following is from the National Catholic Register.
Please research things before you post them, ohterwise you just waste space and time.
Thanks.

In largely symbolic ballot measures, five states allowed voters on Election Day the opportunity to show their disapproval of the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, dubbed Obamacare.
The measures were symbolic because the U.S. Supreme Court already ruled this past summer that the federal health-care law is constitutional, thus making moot any state-level efforts to nullify the federal law.
On Nov. 6, similar health-care amendments were on the ballot in Alabama, Florida, Wyoming and Montana. The amendments allowed residents in those states the option to purchase health insurance or not, which the Affordable Care Act compels all Americans to do in what is called the individual mandate.

Burke, Montana outlawed ObamaCare?!? Really? All the other states should do the same.
I just looked it up on the internet. Montana’s Measure LR-122 is a meaningless measure on the ballet along with Wyoming’s Amendment A, Florida’s Amendment 1, Alabama’s Amendment 6 and Missouri’s Proposition E.
I bet all the Liberals are laughing at us… Gets me so mad.
Hellfire,
You should be mad at oursleves. The Commies did not make anyone post BS here unless Burke is a Commie. Many of us seem to run and post stuff without Googling it first.
