Should You Care About Obamacare State Exchanges?
December 9, 2012 at 4:09 pm in News, Uncategorized by Tea Party Patriots 319 Comments

With the victory of President Obama a month ago, proponents of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) have told opponents to stop opposing the law’s implementation. But as Cato’s Michael Cannon noted shortly after the election, the law is incredibly unpopular. More importantly, though, Cannon noted over a dozen reasons and ways the law can still be effectively opposed. Below are the most critical points Cannon made:
Sixth, a state-created exchange is not a state-controlled exchange. All exchanges will be controlled by Washington.
Seventh, Congress authorized no funds for federal “fallback” exchanges. So Washington may not be able to impose Exchanges on states at all.
Eighth, the Obama administration has yet to provide crucial information that states need before they can make an informed decision.
Ninth, creating an exchange sets state officials up to take the blame when Obamacare increases insurance premiums and denies care to the sick. State officials won’t want their names on this disastrous mess.
….
Twelfth, defaulting to a federal exchange exempts a state’s employers from the employer mandate — a tax of $2,000 per worker per year (the tax applies to companies with more than 50 employees, but for such companies that tax applies after the 30th employee, not the 50th). If all states did so, that would also exempt 18 million Americans from the individual mandate’s tax of $2,085 per family of four. Avoiding those taxes improves a state’s prospects for job creation, and protects the conscience rights of employers and individuals whom the Obama administration is forcing to purchase contraceptives coverage.
Finally, rejecting an exchange reduces the federal deficit. Obamacare offers its deficit-financed subsidies to private health insurers only through state-created exchanges. If all states declined, federal deficits would fall by roughly $700 billion over ten years.
As described by The Kaiser Foundation, there are three options available to states for implementation of the exchanges. Two are preferred by the federal government:
State-based health insurance exchanges, or marketplaces, are a key component of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), and the places where individuals and small businesses will be able to shop for coverage. States have the option of operating their own exchange or partnering with the federal government to run an exchange. States choosing neither option will default to a federally-facilitated exchange. All exchanges, regardless of how they are administered, must be ready to begin enrolling consumers into coverage on October 1, 2013 and must be fully operational on January 1, 2014.
While many states have already announced their intentions, several remain undecided as to which exchange approach they will take. The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) recently extended the deadlines for states to make their decisions, giving states until December 14, 2012 to decide whether to run a state-based exchange, and until February 15, 2013 to opt for a partnership exchange. Even with the additional time for decision making, states opting for a state-based or partnership exchange will face challenges to making the necessary policy and implementation decisions.
One of the strategies governors across the nation have used to oppose the Affordable Care Act is to force the federal government to run the exchanges. As Cannon pointed out, the federal government is not currently set up to run a whole series of exchanges, which gives opponents a huge opening. After all, according to Kaiser’s list of states with state exchanges , 17 have decided to take full responsibility for the exchanges, 17 have defaulted to federal exchanges, and six are partnering with the federal government. Only 10 remain undecided.
In short, this means as many as 27 states are standing against the federal government’s intention to increase the size, scope and cost of government-centered control of health care in the states. And with the federal government not set up to handle 27 exchanges – both financially and otherwise – this means the entire law could implode on itself.
The following states are still undecided:
Montana
Idaho
Utah
Indiana
Tennessee (as of 12/10/12 – Tennessee Governor says they will not participate in state exchanges.)
Florida
West Virginia
Virginia
Pennsylvania
If these states force the federal government to take control of their exchanges, this would put a majority of exchanges in the federal government’s unprepared grasp, and the entire house of cards would begin to fall apart as the federal government scrambled to implement the exchanges.
As the discussions in the 10 undecided states continue, keep track of their progress (or, hopefully, lack thereof) by checking back here often.

Please don’t do the changes to our state we don’t want Obamacare. Those of us who work can’t afford to pay for it. We don’t want the changes or the rules that are in this bill applied to us. Please stand true as a Republican and fight big government control
Republicans! Who re Republicans – those morons who backed up Romney and lost? We don’t care about them anymore. They are second class citizens just like they used to treat democrats before President Obama in 2009. We had wonder 4 year and will have another wonderful 4 years. As to ACA, this will be eventually being “single payer” system. People will pay according to their incomes – that is the richest, who benefit the most, will pay more while we the poor will less or nothing. Thanks God all Americans voted for President Obama on November 6. Now all of us will enjoy life for the next 4 years. After that I will allow God to kill me.
Which Republicans? Who? What? Where?
It is social conservatism you are after, but you are sacrificing yourselves for the state’s rightists.
OK but if the states let the feds take over they have no control at all. Better to run it at the state level. If they run it really badly and it fails to work it will make Obama look bad.
Please reread the article…you are incorrect in assuming a “state exchange” means “state-run”
“Sixth, a state-created exchange is not a state-controlled exchange. All exchanges will be controlled by Washington.”
You are state’s rightists. You are afraid of too much government power.
Yes, listen to the drug dealer!! BRILLIANT!!!
Now ‘yer gettin’ it!!!
It’s not going to have a large effect. Most people will not notice it much and if they do, it is either a positive response such as coverage or it will get better soon by lowering health costs SLIGHTLY.
It makes a big difference to those of us with chronic disease. The ivIG treatment I get is covered by private health insurance, but it is very costly and will go away with socialized medicine. It makes all the difference in my quality of life. Obama will hand me Prednisone and say good luck. Don’t be fooled, it will be mediocrity for all.
It’s not supposed to go away. I don’t know where you are getting this information that it is going to take away your care. It’s fear mongering!
Whoever told you doesn’t actually understand it. It’s supposed to be an expansion, not a contraction, and a VERY small one at best. Why would they decrease what treatments they had before receiving MORE money? I saw someone here earlier saying that a hospital in Texas was NOT closing because of the Affordable Care Act and saying to the person Kristine that they were wrong. It looked like the person probably worked there. I have also, heard nothing from healthcare people about this change being negative. It seems to me it is only positive.
Danae:
, I looked up IVIG and if you have neuropathy it looks like they are not worried about the Affordable Care Act. They do NOT want to repeal it, but want to ask for MORE funding and to repeal the Medicare Sustainability Growth Formula (SGR). They also want Neurology to be included into the primary care bonus section of the Affordable Care Act. I looked at two organizations http://www.neuropathyaction.org/links/index.htm (includes a rally with physicians where they ask for more funding) and http://www.neuropathy.org/site/DocServer/Issue_36_May_10_.pdf?docID=2025. (pg 7)

It’s the easiest prediction one can make. Let the government create a program that guarantees an organization revenue, and there will be organizations wanting to ride on that gravy train.
For some reason, there are people stupid enough to believe that the same government that pays a thousand dollars for a simple wrench will not do the same thing when they control health care.
There is only a finite amount of health care to be consumed. ObamaKare does nothing more than increase the number of consumers by including those that don’t pay without increasing the finite amount of health care available for consumption. An idiot can figure out that the amount of health care available to the people who actually pay for it will decrease.
Wanda,
Health care is already too expensive. It is not a right. It should only be for those who can afford it. It’s survival of the fittest in nature. Do birds have government health care?
Let’s do all we can to deny health care to illegals
You are a social Darwinist.
Go to prison!
Blue, although I disagree with Jerry…. look what you wrote. He should “go to prison” for his beliefs. That is precisely the type of intolerant dictatorial (agree with us or suffer the consequences) garbage the left has been hurling at conservatives. And you have the gaul to call yourselves open-minded and progressive?
He said “survival of the fittest” meaning social Darwinism. I don’t mean simply for his beliefs, I mean what he would be fine with causing passively: death of the poor and elderly. Also, he is probably a drug user of speed and LSD which he has stated on another page and that is illegal. That alone is worthy of prison time if he is a user.

blue, I am the owner of the Gulf cartel. We employ over 450,000 drug dealers. They all get private insurance, pension and health care. We probably have a dealer in your town. Where do you live?
Agreed. Blue is a visitor to the site, set to show his ignorance. Ignore.
LOL, Kathie did you even LOOK up what the “Gulf Cartel” is?
“The Gulf Cartel (Spanish: Cártel del Golfo, Golfos, or CDG)[3][4] is a criminal syndicate and drug trafficking organization in Mexico,[5] and perhaps the oldest organized crime group in the country.[6] It is currently based in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, directly across the border from Brownsville, Texas” http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gulf_Cartel
That’s what blind following does to people’s critical thinking skills.
When I read some of these comments that are so outlandish it makes that person and the side they say their on, look and sound evil.
The comments are so outlandish that it could only come from the other side of the issue. I have seen this before. The people that are for Obama care just can’t or don’t understand the real issue that makes Obama cares such a bad move for the country at this time, because of how bad the economy is, that they can only try and make the other side look evil.
They white things like this comment below that makes the people who may not agree with Obama care look bad. I don’t know anyone that’s against Obama care could write this. The comment below does not deal with the reason why Obama care is so bad. It’s only meaning is to bring out the hate against the person who wrote this and the people who are against Obama care. Yes there are people that would sign in and write the comment below to make it seem like they are against Obama care just to make those who may not agree with them look bad. This statement could only come from people that would do this.

Oneyebat I don’t know who Jerry is and it is not unusual to see these comments. DBWriter, e.g., was saying the same earlier. “Let them all work…. or starve” is what he said. You see it on TeaParty.org and TPP Facebook too. If you think it is unusual, then you don’t know something when it is right under your nose.
Yes, let them work or starve. The United States is one of the very, very few countries that has ever existed where a person can choose their living standard. If a person makes the personal choices that result in poverty, then they should be responsible for the choices they made. It’s very easy to avoid being poor here. Just follow these simple directions:
Take advantage of the plethora of opportunites to become educated.
Get as much education as practicable.
Study something useful to the economy.
Get a job and show up for work every day… on time.
Do what you’re paid to do.
Become a student of your profession.
(for those who don’t abandon their children) teach your children to be reliable in the workforce.
Live and work for your family.
If you do the above, you will never be poor.
If you choose to be poor, then you will be poor. I am not responsible for providing to you that which you refuse to provide for yourself.
Get a job or starve.
Oneyebat,
I beg to disagree as I stae only facts:
1) Helath care is expensive
2) It is not a right
3) Illegals have no right to be here yet less have me pay for their health care
4) Darwin is correct. It is survival of the fittest/richest
You should watch that movie “They Shoot Horses Don’t They?”
You would be the one at the end that ends it and then… GOES TO JAIL!!!!
WE DON’T WANT OBAMACARE! Say no to health exchanges PLEASE.
Sam, we might have to fight it at the county level. If we can get the counties to close free clinics and dump the poor into ObamaCare that migh be enough to destroy it. In Europe the have government health care and it makes the poor live longer. In the 1800′s they would die off in ther 40′s. Now they live into their 80′s. This is unnatural. Poor people are a drag on free society
Jerry you are on SPEED AND LSD NO ONE CARES
You’re a foolish troll!
You want to destroy the Republican party! You’re a third wing of racists who simply will not disappear. As the country becomes more multicultural, however, this will have to end.
I do not wont Obamacare i think you need to impeach him he wonts to be king
The president cannot control the healthcare system. This is another myth.
The President could have vetoed this 3000 page monster ….and now you’re right ….he has losed the monster and you will pay and pay and pay for it blue …they are going to tax you too!
Wow like a 1% increase… big deal. I’d rather pay 1% more to save lives then to let them die. You people are cheapskates.
And this bill passed through a thousand people’s hands, not just one like you seem to think out of racism. The Congress writes the bills, the Senate accepts the bills, and the president can veto, accept, or ignore the bill. That’s around a 1000 people. The president played a small part in this.

Canada has healthcare for everyone, except those who are too old to receive it.
My friend Grant lived in Canada. He was 73 and strong and active. For a few weeks he worked extra hard and became ill.
Because of Grant’s age, Canada kept him in the hospital for weeks without medication, that could have saved his life. Grant was devastated! He had so many plans!
How painful it is for an active person who enjoys life to be refused medication because he is “too old!” Canada allowed Grant to lie in bed without medication for weeks until he died. Such laws are sub-human!
Norma Archbold

I have to thank Steve Logan of Americans for Prosperity to help push the people of New Jersey to call Governor Christy and let him know we don’t want/need Obamacare. He veto setting up the exchange, which was passed by both houses in New Jersey. Come on the undecided states opt out and maybe we can kill Obamacare before it kills us.
Obamacare is a way to control the American people’s lives, who lives, who dies. It must be appealed. Wake up sheeple!!!! Nothing is for free!!!! Expecially your freedoms!!! People who already have insurance will lose their coverage, everything will be taxed, including aspirin!!!!
Connie, you are right except on people losing insurance. If you have private insurance you can keep it under ObamaCare
Jerry, yes you can keep your insurance. However if your carrier is not on Obama’s list of approved carriers you will still have to pay the fine. So even though you are technically following the law, you’re penalized for such. It’s an attempt to set up a true Government single pay system.
One more try with you, Jerry…keeping your private health insurance may not be YOUR decision. If, for example, your policy does not comply with the Obamacare requirements, the private insurance company may not be able to continue to offer the plan with the added requirements at the same price. Yeah, you can keep your plan…but it won’t be the same price and in some cases, the company won’t offer it to you anymore. Watch the trick language with this healthcare plan.
All the best insurance companies will make the cut: Blue Cross, Humana, United. Who would want health insurance from some fly by night insurance company that does not meet basic coverage standards? ….”A1 Joe’s Insurance” run out of a garage…not for my family!!
Jerry, hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but just because Blue cross is the most expensive insurance company dies not make them the best or fittest!! They are one of the most crooked ins companies on this planet!!! Wake up and listen to the sane people trying to help you understand the truth about managed (obama) care!!
The president does not control the healthcare under the Affordable Healthcare Act. Another myth fed by racists.
Kelly, I’d want my insurance company to meet basic standards, just like like I want to fly on airplanes that have been inspected for safety and the pilot is not drunk. Does that make any sense to you? If any joker can start an insurance company how will you know they will still be in business when you get sick?
Going with a small insurance company is risky. They may not have the funds to cover the care or be frauds.
Jerry, you can not keep it if your company gets rid of it! Cheaper for your company to pay the penalty and orchestra you into the obamacare program. Get it?
“ObamaCare” is a racist term sold to you by racists who are controlling you. It is used to remind you of his race and make you think he is an “alien” every time you say it.
obamacare obamacareobamacareobamacareobamscare….lol
George you are racist and soon all the racists will be gone. The middle aged and young generation are becoming less and less racist.
It’s “ObamaKare” idiot.
And, you obviously weren’t paying attention when your messian told you he liked the term.
Perhaps you should get right over to the White House and stand in line with everyone waiting to scold Obama about something or another he did to display his ignorance and stupidity.
It’s not about “who lives, who dies” you’ve been fed that by your controllers.
It’s a myth.
If anything, there are more people dieing now and not getting enough care than from the Affordable Care Act, which was accepted by the Supreme Court and already taking affect for 2 years already.
Learn to spell, turdly. Your message, in its entirely, is that of an ignorant person, who refuses to learn. Bet you once could. Sorry for you now.
And you thought the “Gulf Cartel” was a legitimate business!!! WOW.
Nope. Just hit the wrong “reply” line. Sorry, dimwit, to let you down.
Is “dimwit” supposed to be an insult? Oh please. You act like a 2 year old.
Why don’t you stop that gas tax instead of blaming the president for the gas prices when right after the election it went down a dollar and pay for other peoples care.
I don’t know anyone that wants Obamacare. I will be FORCED to go on Medicare next year. I would prefer to keep my current insurance, but that is not allowed by our government. My doctors are telling me that will not be seeing people on Medicare because they can no longer afford it. I have a friend in Florida whose cardiologist retired. He has attempted to make an appointment with 17 different doctors and was turned away because he is on Medicare. Where are seniors supposed to get care? My Congressman and Senator can not answer this question.
They’re supposed to comply and if not, they will be forced to by the law. There will be growing pains then it will dissipate. It really doesn’t make much difference.
Time to cut this nonsense — his Nibs proudly accepted the term Obamacare during the first of the recent debates (the one he bungled royally) and the term is generally used for the ACA with no racist connotation whatever. We disposed of Hillarycare, standard way to refer to ridiculous stupid legislation by its author’s name. All the preceding (and probably following) caterwauling will not eliminate the basic financial and health care quality truths noted in the piece about state vs Federally run Obamacare exchanges: (1) The states will not have control over the exchanges, no matter what they are called; (2)the Feds did a poor job of planning the funding of the exchanges and figured to stick the states with both the onus for setting up a hugely unpopular (despised) schlock piece of legislation and the inevitable tax increases to come when the full implementation cost of this abomination hits; (3) Obama and fellow travelers in the House stripped $716 billion from Medicare to pay for Obamacare (this is presented as a “saving” extending the life of Medicare but it comes from cuts in payments to providers, hospitals and doctors), which will result in 15 % of hospitals going out of business and 50 % of doctors retiring or not accepting medicare patients, either way the care of the medicare patients will be severely impaired, and further impaired by the inevitable triage resulting from the “death panel” deliberations on promoting health care “improvement” (cost reduction). And no, you cannot make a doctor stay in the system against his free choice, at least not yet until the radical income redistributionist “social justice” babbling Obama glorifying crowd (the 47%)
get to be a permanent majority. Suggest all grow up and return to discussing the financial points raised in the exchange piece. Some of us must have learned some critical thinking, even in this PC multiculti diversity touting age of glorified mediocrity.
Nicolas, the term “Obamacare” is racist just as “HillaryCare” was sexist. Why? Who started the term “Obamacare”? The TP. What was at the TP rallies with the term “Obamacare”? Racist baboon signs and anti-immigration signs. They were racist and admitted it on tape, too, saying he was born in Kenya. It’s like “oboz” and “muslim” its racism at its best. And your strange defensiveness over “social justice” and “multiculti diversity” shows your racism too. All people who are against “social justice” and “multiculti diversity” are “threatened” white supremacists. Get over yourself
Nancy,
I am in your same shoes. I hardly every use the medical profession, but I also want to retain some independent kind of insurance coverage–even an HSA would do. The only think I can think to do, is rely on natural and homeopathic cures, if you can. I personally have a lot of success with that route, and maybe you could research it, too. Good luck! I think we “about-to-be seniors” are all screwed.
You are healthy, but many who had diseases before getting health insurance could not get insurance. Now they can. Many could get kicked off health insurance if they became sick, this is now against the law.
who do you think should pay for the unlucky? blue
I will be paying for it… and you will be too because it will force cheap, souless people like you to pay too.
This administration and Obama don’t care about the Seniors. If their illness is too expensive they will pull the plug, it will no longer be a personal of family decision, the government will decide who lives or dies with Obamacare, guess this administration figures the more seniors they can do away with the more money for them to squander and give to illegals. I have my own insurance and should have a right to the choice as long as I pay the premium and don’t ask anything from government. Stay out of my private life as long as I don’ t break the law or harm others. Care should be given to those who cannot afford it not all, it is just one more control. Notice our elected officials will not be on Obamacare that should tell us all something.
Another myth. This law is all about improving care for the seniors and poor. The doctors and medical associations are all for it.
They are getting MORE funding, not less.
Another myth. This law is all about improving care for the seniors and poor. The doctors and medical a_s_s_ociations are all for it.

And “Obamacare” once again, is a racist term just like HillaryCare was sexist. It’s fed to you by racist controllers.
ObamaKare is just another Democrat Marxist program to redistribute wealth to people who refuse to earn it.
Marxism collapsed every economy that it was allowed to infect. It was the Democrats’ Marxist subprime housing mortgage underwriting wealth redistribution program that collapsed the economy here. Only an idiot thinks this Marxist ObamaKare program won’t have the exact same effect.
Nancy:
I would suggest you check into the transition from private insurance to Medicare.
Long before Obamacare was discussed, the Medicare policy was that you reached an election point for enrollment at age 65. The election is to participate in Medicare Part B (the medical insurance portion). You can choose to enter Medicare at that point or you can elect to remain outside medicare and participate in private medical insurance. At various points after that initial election point (generally annually, you will have another opportunity to enter medicare. However, if you elect to enter Medicare AFTER the initial offering, you will have to pay a higher premium.
The same policy exists for Medicare under Social Security Disability. Regardless of age, 12 months after being awarded Social Security Disability, you will be offered the option to enter Medicare. You can elect to not enter, but should you change your mind at a later date, you will pay a higher premium.
With regard to your Doctor’s electing to not accept Medicare patients, It’s unfortunate, but it’s also THEIR choice.
I am retired from the Army and have been treated under Tricare for years. 4 years ago, I contracted Cancer and have been treated by Civilian doctors while under Tricare and under Medicare. I had an operation at Duke University Medical Center (treatment doesn’t get much better than at Duke University). I have had absolutely no problem finding a doctor to handle my case and I couldn’t be happier with the quality of care I have received. I recognise that mine is a singular situation, just as your friend’s case is in Florida. I don’t consider my experience to be unique and I doubt that your friend’s experience is unique.
I guess my point is that, with or without Obamacare, I believe you will be treated adequately and properly for any ailment or illness you may experience at any time in your life time. It is my experience that no governmental agency is going to pull the plug on you. While there may be medical facilities that view their responsibilities politically and use politics as an excuse to manage their bottom line, there are many more that view their responsibilities morally and will provide you with everything you need for as long as you need it! .
I live in Washington State and I don’t want it either, they have already upped our premiums for next year over $2,000 this is not right!
Lily who is “they”…..Medicare? big insurance companies?
Jerry,
The “big insurance companies” about which you are asking, are raising rates all over the place–BECAUSE of Obamacare.
Insurance companies have been raising rates for 50 years. That is not new
$2,000. Well if you go over the fiscal cliff by the TP you’re going to be paying more than that. If you get a middle class income $33K to $88K it will go up. The president, counter to the lies here, has actually LOWERED taxes for the middle class more than G.H.W.B or Clinton.

The TP are social Darwinists and want the sick and poor to die.
Blue,
You are beyond ignorant of the Tea Party and its goals…and I am kind of sorry for you–yet angry at your inability to think and learn for yourself. Grow up, dude. The “TP” that you so fear, are the people who make this country work. You, the Liberal, on the other hand, …not so much, because you seem to be one of the sheeple. Just to spite your pre-conceived notions of the “TP”, I am a college educated Northern-raised (31 years in Illinois, actually!) female who does not own a gun, works a full-time professional job for a living, Phi Beta Kappa (just to show that there are SOME who have made it through the university system who are not flaming morons), and appalled at how much the “taker” population has sprouted in between the cracks in this country. GEt with being an American, or get out..
First off, I’m a woman. Once again, more sexism and sambo sexism like only men can have “blue” or be a_s_s_ertive. I’d say you are the blind one, you want to go extremes with state’s right Dixiecrats, which was originally a “left” policy. I’m a republican voted straight ticket before. I’m a college educated Californian, grew up in Red Republican Arizona. Phi Theta Kappa, doesn’t own a gun, works. Like all TP you have preconceived biases toward anyone who disagrees with you and bite like a snake.
It doesn’t matter if you are North, South, West, East, college-educated or never went to school. Man or woman. There are racists and sexists everywhere in this country. They are drawn to the TP.
I’ll give that statement the same level of credibility I gave you when you claimed to be a Republican.
Does the truth ever escape through your lips?
2nd Tea Party Wave
We need a new wave of action in the streets to recover from the election. Get people motivated. Protest ObamaCare.
Idea: Designate May 1 as Job Creators Day to honor those who make our economy possible. There could be parades. We could give awards to large companies
What do you think?
“ObamaCare” Yes say it over and over again because it reminds you he is black and makes you think he is a muslim = black. Racism. Who made up this word anyway? The TP.
Lord save you. You are stupid beyond redemption, apparently. The Democratic Party has the corner on the history of racism. Wake up and learn, dimwit.
That was BEFORE the shift in the early 20th century. When was the last time you learned about U.S. Government? The Modern Democrats of today are pro-federalism and against state’s rights. They championed the civil rights movement which the state’s rightists were against. The Republicans were originally Federalists, then Whigs, then Republicans,,,, now the TP wants to turn them into the original Democrats. The Democrats you think of were originally Anti-Federalists, then Republicans, then Democrat-Republicans, then Democrats. Today that party no longer exists as it is Modern Democrats now.
State’s rights is a euphemism for racism and inequality. The TP would like to abolish or take over the court system, an important check and balance and once championed by the Republicans.
Blue, before you start giving out civics lessons why don’t you re-read the Constitution?
Tell me Barnslayer, where does it say in the Constitution that people can be racist? Where does it say in the Constitution people can be sexist? Where does it say in the Constitution that the government cannot tax its people AT ALL.
Nowhere.
Also… where in the ORIGINAL constitution.. did it say that “these restrictions e.g., the Bill of Rights” apply to the State’s?
Nowhere. This was amended into it and forced through by the court system. The state’s had no restrictions or anyone to force them to abide by the Bill of Rights. It simply only applied to the federal government.
Amendments and revised versions are good. The court system is good.
You know as much about the Constitution as Obama.
What don’t you understand about this statement:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”
What this means is, for one thing, a state cannot remove any Constitutionally guaranteed individual right.
You, like Obama, should read the Constitution at least once in your life.
Also, there are many CHRISTIANS who are Democrats. CHRISTIANS are not only Republican, you know. For example, many Methodists.
This is the survival of the unfitest at the expense of the fit! Why should I work to pay taxes for the non-workers? Only those fit enough to survive deserve to live! That’s the only way to build a healthy society fit to stand and fight, not by encouraging the sick and lazy to live on my taxes!!!
“the sick and lazy let them die” Let me guess you are also racist and sexist?
That’s the TP for you!
Mike, I agree with you. If the poor can’t buy insurance they deserve to be on their own. We could put them in large camps where they could and should get hospice care. Many of these pople are moochers or veterans who were damaged in wars. Why pay for moochers?
Lots of the poor are illegals form Mexico
Okay Jerry, I quit. You are beginning to sound like a troll…”Moochers…are veterans damaged in war.” I think you are punking this site and I’m checking out.
Babci, You think the EPA or DHS is a waste of money, well just check out the Veterans Administration. Billions wasted on government run health care. A lot of these vets are moochers sitting around crying about PTSD. Why should they get a free ride?
Racist!! You think all Mexicans are poor because of their race. They were “born into poverty because of their race.” WRONG!
Racism that’s the entire TP
You seem to have a problem defining terms in the English language, such as “poor”.
I have never seen anyone who works every day who is poor. You never have, either.
We need to get him out of office soon before he destroyes the rest of the country
Patricia, Any idea on how? He won big time in November. We don’t have national recall. What could we impeach him for? Perhaps we could get him for the illegal FEMA camps?
He’s destroying… NOTHING! Really get your fear trip out.
We all know this is REALLY about social issues.
T o HELL with the ENTIRE MUSLIM LOBAMA REGIME…..
Phillip Rains is a racist! Muslim = black.
RACIST TP!! ALL RACISTS
Amen i am with Sam we dont need it.
This is a social issue for you. The TP is NOT really about the 3 principles, it is a euphemism for social issues like social Darwinism. Why else would they have monkey signs at their first rallies?
This is a violation of the Constitution! I served proudly in the US Air Force for this country so people can have the freedom they neglect today! Mr. President keep your filthy government hands out of my life!
Tim, Which part of the Constitution?
It will be two private insurance companies taking over, not a government health plan.
It’s not socialism. Socialism was fed to you by racists.
NO OBAMACARE! STAY OUT OF MY HEALTH CARE!
“ObamaCare” is racist. Would you have called it “ClintonCare” back in the 1990′s? No. It’s a joke about his name.
Someone said that this “Obama Care” slogan we use is because it “sounds like a monkey and a Muslim together”, comparing it to “Obozo”.
Their argument ran on the healthcare reform in the nineties.
“You didn’t give it a derogatory name like ‘Clinton Care’, right?”
Actually, they did: “Hillary Care”.
“Hillary Care”
Ah, yes, sexism. It sounds like a “sissy” care.
For you it’s ok to be sexist and racist as long as it has already happened.
Let’s see… sexism.
Why didn’t Obama give the same grand bow of subservience to the Queen of England he gave to the King of Saudi Arabia?
Obama is a sexist bigot.
and… racism.
Why didn’t Obama give the same grand bow of subservience to the Queen of England he gave to the King of Saudi Arabia?
Obama is a racist bigot.
Wy do you ignore these facts?
You are a racist bigot.
I don’t want odamacare for Georgia
You call it “obamacare” because it sounds like a monkey like “Obozo.” That is why you call it obamacare and make fun of his name. It also reminds you of muslim each time you think of it. Another racist thing!
Why is a person, Obama, who was not raised in the US, and does not appear to be an honorable citizen, allowed to force his laws on this country? What happened to by the people and for the people. We don’t get to vote on this health care? The average person can not afford to support the leeches.
Hermie,
I fear that the government has been taken out of the hands of the American citizen–either by laziness of those who did not vote in November, or by voter fraud. It is also possible that the scales have finally tipped in favor of the “Takers”, who now might be outnumbering the “Makers” If that day has come, we all might just as well move out…of America.
You agree with the TP person saying the president was born in Kenya = racist.
RACISTS EVERYWHERE!!! And then next you say there are “leeches” you mean the blacks are leeches and poor are leeches. RACISM!!
Blue, Hermie said he wasn’t raised in the US that is different from being born in the US. You are as bad as Jerry. Both of you are fakers.
What is your problem? Just because you books aren’t selling anymore…..
The president was raised in HAWAII. EVERYONE knows this. The fact he said “some other country” means he is a racist and thinks he was raised in Kenya. I’ve seen that before. It’s a euphemism for racism.
He spent four years in Indonesia where he attended 1st through 4th grade Blue.
That is NOT “raised” in a different country. That is 4 years. He spent his early childhood, high school, and college in the United States and mostly HAWAII. How old is the president? 51 years old? So now anyone who spends time in a different country for a short time is now “raised” there?
Stop pulling strings. This TP person REALLY means “Kenya”
blue bigot, you need to get your facts straight.
Obama was in attendance in a radical musllim school in Indonesia.
Obama entered the United States with the name Barry Soetoro.
Barry Soetoro attended Occidental College where he was descirbed as a poorly performing student, and applied for a Fulbright grant set aside solely for foreign nationals, which he declared himself to be a citizen of Indonesia and belong to the Islamic religion on the application.
After being a poor student at Occidental College, he was admitted to Columbia University where nobody in his class ever met him. Nobody knows what name he used at Columbia. If he was using the name Barack Obama, nobody knows how it was verified that Barack Obama was the same person as Barry Soetoro at Occidental College. Or, perhaps Obama was admitted to Columbia by influence from someone like Frank Marshal Davis and the Communist Party USA, whom he praises in the books he supposedly wrote, and his poor performance at Occidental College was ignored.
The bottom line is, nobody knows when Barry Soetoro became Barack Obama. In short, we don’t even know what the president’s name is.
Perhaps Obama was admitted to Columbia by influence from someone like Frank Marshal Davis and the Communist Party USA, whom he praises in the books he supposedly wrote, and his poor performance at Occidental College was ignored.
The bottom line is, nobody knows when Barry Soetoro became Barack Obama. In short, we don’t even know what the president’s name is.
If we don’t even know his name, what else could we possibly know for sure about him?
The voting machines in Ohio were rigged to flip votes to Obama. That is why Mitt was so distressed when he lost. In a fair election he would have won by a landslide. Obama had millions of urban voters voting 5 or 6 times. Somehow Mitt was backmailed into not demanding a recount. Carl Rove was threatened on air at Fox which is why he acted so strange. Romney aids who knew what happened have vanished.
It was not rigged. That is more racism fed to you by your feeders.
It was legitimate. He won by nearly a landslide in 2008 and nearly a landslide this time with 332 electoral votes.
And the turnout of over 100 percent in many precincts in Ohio is testament of the legitimacy of counting the votes.
Don’t you find it odd that in many precincts collecting thousands of votes, Romney got zero votes? Out of tens of thousands of votes, not one person mistakenly pressed the wrong location on the ballot.
That is an impossibility.
Let’s see now…
Michigan elects a Republican governor, and the legislature they elected just told Obama to GFY and passed an anti-union right-to-work law.
And, somehow, those same people who elected that governor and that legislature didn’t vote for Romney.
That not only smells fishy, it’s rotten fish you can smell a block away.
You are racist you say the president was not born in this country and is from Kenya.
You are racists!! ALL OF YOU!!
You are the only racist here. It’s obvious from your posts that your mind has been trained to be racist and think in racists terms.
I pray that Virginia–the state that I have chosen from my retirement–gets off the fence, and does the right thing by its citizens. NO ONE can afford Obamacare, including the medical profession, and we will all suffer because of it. The most frightening thing of all, is that there exists enough fools (or such deeply set voter fraud) in this country, that this #1 enemy of our country has been returned to office.
The people in the medical profession love it. Another lie fed to you by racists. “ObamaCare” is racist.
You are really just about the social issues.
If the Federal government is really as unprepared as you think it is, and sayhere:
“If these states force the federal government to take control of their exchanges, this would put a majority of exchanges in the federal government’s unprepared grasp, and the entire house of cards would begin to fall apart as the federal government scrambled to implement the exchanges.” Great…..But what if they throw something at us just to keep control, ’till they can set up as should be.?
You say the states don’t like it. The states love it. Another lie.
The Federal government is going to pay 90% of all of the costs of the expansion. That’s practically free money.
There is no such thing as free money Blue. The federal governments take what it wants from the productive members of society.
To THE STATES it is free money because they don’t have to pay for anything out of their budgets. THE STATES love it. That was what I was saying.
Blue…the money is NOT FREE, it is taxpayer money. The government doesn’t have money except that which is collected in revenue from its citizens. You are a typical moocher, you have the mentality that thinks the STATES won’t have to pay; the federal GOVERNMENT will pay. If your comments weren’t so laughable they would be downright ignorant and pathetic. Get an education and some wisdom before you spew forth information you know nothing about. There are other words besides racist and sexist. And FYI it is not socialism or Marxism that is being pursued by Obama, it is called FASCISM. You can google it because I don’t believe you own a dictionary or encyclopedia.
Wow, now the president is Fascist (though I’ve heard that already)!
I think you need to re-look up fascism because when you look at the views of the Nazis and Mussolini Fascists you see SOCIAL CONSERVATISM to the extreme and INEQUALITY to the extreme. E.g., women are made to have babies and men are to fight only. Mussolini started a “birth program” to get his population to 30 million. Countless other “get rid of the inferior” strategies by these fascists. THAT is fascism. The big corporations teamed up with the government in Germany. How could there be big corporations? How could capitalists and democrats (a capitalist party) fight the fascists back then?
It is extreme right!
Facism… and birth programs….
Do you mean like a government program to subsidize unwed women when they have children without fathers?
Fascism… and economics….
Do you mean like the government purchasing stock in banks from board members and letting the board members remain on the board provided they do what the government wants?
As many a radical Marxist has stated, fascism is a necessary step when transitioning from capitalism to communism.
I’ve just got one more question.
Do you ever listen to yourself?
How many times does this need to be seen: “Fascism is considered by certain scholars to be right-wing because of its social conservatism and authoritarian means of opposing egalitarianism.[40][41] Roderick Stackleberg places fascism—including Nazism, which he says is “a radical variant of fascism”—on the right, explaining that “the more a person deems absolute equality among all people to be a desirable condition, the further left he or she will be on the ideological spectrum. The more a person considers inequality to be unavoidable or even desirable, the further to the right he or she will be.”[42]”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism
No doubt these references are in the same group of so-called “progressives” that write the fraudulent history the population has been indoctrinated with, and responsible for virtually the entire population not being able to define terms like fascism and Marxism, the most significant terms of the most significant events of the previous century.
I’m going to quote your bible for this one:
“”An organizer working in and for an open society is in an ideological dilemma to begin with, he does not have a fixed truth — truth to him is relative and changing.”
To you, the definitions change as necessary. However, you seem to be so stupid you actually describe Democrat programs when you attempt to condemn your opposition.
Terry, I was not stating it was “free without taxes.” I was stating the state governments do not have to pay for it, so the state governments are eager to get their hands on it because for THEM it is free money. Do you understand? The federal and state budgets are separate. The federal government allots some money to the states. The states also have their own taxes separate from the federal government. If this was up to the states alone they could get a deficit or have to raise taxes, but it is not up to the state governments. For the state governments, this iS free money. Get it?
Also, you TP Terry, have the typical mentality of a TP extremist. Moocher? Really? We have another anti-poor TP person in our midst who thinks ALL people who have an opposing view don’t work or have no money. Get real people. There are many DEMOCRATS who are MILLIONAIRES. E.g., Bill Gates and Warren Buffet.
And not all people who are non-white are poor. Get over your hang ups.
Eddina, If we got people together we could hold a “sick in” to destroy the system. What would happen if millions of people got really sick all at once. The system would fail. Thousands would die without any care. It would be a scandal. ObamaCare would die.
That’s ridiculous and anti-poor. That’s the TP. Racist and anti-poor.
What we have is Marxism. In the ObamaKare system, the crackhead is equal to the engineer in every way except who pays for it. Those who sacrificed and worked their entire lives to earn the priviledges afforded those who make the economy function in a capitalist system are denied the benefits of their sacrifice, work, risk, and dedication to their work. The benefits they created are forcefully taken from them by the government and awarded to those who CHOSE to be what is erroneously called “poor”.
If a person is guaranteed to receive the same benefits as someone who sacrifices and works their entire life, then the people who make the economy work will become less in number. Eventually, there won’t be enough people making the economy work to support the entitlements being promised. It’s a certainty this system will collapse in on itself.
DB, This is already happening as the baby boomers retire. We can’t afford all this MediCare and Social Security. People should tend to themsleves not depend on government. If we end therse programs there would not be any financial problems.
I agree. People should tend to themselves. That was the original intent of Social Security INSURANCE. But, people are living longer now. However, I don’t think that is the real problem with Social Security. It has been hijacked and turned into a catch-all welfare program.
The government should include in its budget repayment of all the money it stole from Social Security, and stop the practice of paying Social Security out of the general fund. The same for Medicare.
Because these programs have been raided and abused and subject to outright fraud by the government, they are subject to becoming bankrupt. Everybody loses everything.
Social Security and Medicare receive funding through specific tax witholdings. Any discussion about Social Security and Medicare should not involve any other subject. Solve the problem. Stop paying benefits to people who never paid into the system is a great place to start. Pay back the money stolen is a good second step.
But, most importantly, the population needs to understand that the role of government isn’t to ensure for them a comfortable old age. They are individually responsible for that.
You are a terrorist. Still walking around with the picture of a terrorist with a real person’s head chopped off I see.
Blue you amaze me. You arbitrarily assign your interpretation to some else’s avatar. Do you even know who the victim in that picture is? I do. He was murdered by members of the religion of peace.
Just a reminder for you so you don’t forget what the enemy intends to do to you.
If you want to see a real terrorist, just hang around the front door of the White House and wait for the Wahabist Muslim Brotherhood to make one of their frequent visits.
DBWriter, you walk around with that picture of death, are racist calling the president a muslim/connecting him to them = kenya, and say a U.S. Marshall should have been on a gurney.
I think you need to take a chill pill.
Larry Potts was not a US Marshal, dufus.
There just isn’t enough money to pay for it. The Democrats plan is to continually borrow money. There is no plan to stop borrowing money. There is no plan to have the economy pay for the government programs.
And we have the goddam Speaker of the House negotiating away the Constitution.
Congress, and ONLY Congress has the authority to borrow money. The RINOs are offerring to the Democrats the authority of the president to borrow money.
This should stand everyone’s hair on its ends. But, everyone is asleep.
We have one chance to save the constitutional republic. We have to remove Boehner from the Speaker’s chair. If he remains as Speaker, we will lose the Constitution.
Paul Ryan should be the next Speaker of the House. We need to make that happen.
Ryan is too intellectual to be Speaker. We need a leader like Alan West
More racism. You say Ryan is too intellectual than say it should be Allen West.
Allen West was sexist and is gone! DONE!
Alan West is a great man….a man of the Tea Party
So what your saying is… It’s ok for me to be racist against Mexicans and others as long as I prop up a black man who is sexist. Tt hides you racism. You said it yourself “there shouldn’t be more race mixing”
Alan West is your sambo.
What I think we need is just someone who will stand toe-to-toe with the Democrats against their obviously Marxist agenda and punch them in the mouth when they try to eliminate the Constitution. Boehner is milktoast, and just another big-government politician. At least we’ll get a budget with Paul Ryan as Speaker, and that’s something we haven’t seen since Obama took office. No wonder we’re drowning in debt.
We need a fighter. Boehner obviously isn’t it. Paul Ryan will proverbially take Harry Reid’s head off if he continues to obstruct the will of the people, which is represented by the House of Representatives. And, the next time Obama does something obviously unconstitutional like issuing decrees to the general population like we’re some third world village and he can write his own laws, Paul Ryan is dedicated enough to impeach him.
Unless we change Speaker, we’re doomed. Boehner is already offerring to eliminate the Constitution. Paul Ryan is a known quantity, and does the things we think need to be done.
If Boehner continues as Speaker, we lose the Constitution.
“Marixism” is a euphemism for “black” and is racist.
Really? Would you have called Clinton “Marxist”? This is more racism. You are also the person who thinks he is connected to muslims AKA racist.
Wrong again Blue. Marxism is a euphemism for marxism. Karl Marx (for whom it was named) was white. The only racists are those who would vote for someone based on the color of their skin.
Answer me Barnslayer. Did you call Clinton “Marxist”? Would you have called Kerry “Marxist”? Would you have called Al Gore “Marxist”?
It’s racism fed to you to make you think he is “alien” and make you of it every time you say it.
Clinton was a socialist, mostly. But, when he forced Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to institute nation-wide the ludicrous subprime housing mortgage underwriting program that collapsed our economy, he was forcing banks to give wealth to people who had not earned it.
Let’s go over some Marxist principles:
No person within the masses can have a priviledge or benefit not allowable to everyone within the masses.
The Democrats’ subprime housing mortgage underwriting program that caused our economy to collapse was unquestionably Marxist, eliminating the difference between those who could pay for a house and those who couldn’t/wouldn’t.
And, you should avoid any discussion about Marxism. You can’t even define the word. You wouldn’t know a Marxist if one was brainwashing you with a bullhorn in your face.
I wasn’t very impressed by Ryan as a VP candidate. He is good at the budget. We need a real leader for Speaker and we have to be fast about it
Jerry, I hesitate to say it but I agree. Ryan is too mild mannered to go up against left-wing bigmouths. Allen West is not only a “take-no-crap” kinda guy (like General Schwarzkopf was) he has encyclodedia-like command of facts and history. I rather see West as president and not waste his leadership abilities as Speaker. But I would enjoy seeing him verbally rip Harry Reid a new one.
Blue… the Clintoons (both Bill and Hitlery) are marxists. Al Gore is a liar and has made gobs of $$$ on his carbon credit/ global warming BS. (I don’t know either way if he is a marxist). Keep in mind all the above are filthy rich. They plan our lives but live lavishly like royalty. Just like oblamer does. If oblamercare is so good why is the Congress exempt.
The point was, Barnslayer, were people REALLY throwing around the word “Marxist” back in the 1990′s, early to mid 2000′s except for extremist fringe? I googled Bill Clinton Marxist from the time date of 1990-2000 and only got obscure websites. No legitimate sources and mostly joke conspiracy theories. I see WND is still around and STILL a rag.
“oblamercare,” a racist term as HIllary Care was a sexist term, does not exempt the congresspeople or their families. Another lie fed to you by racists.
I think he was being reigned in. We know if Boehner retains the Speaker position, everything will be lost. That is certain.
Paul Ryan has prominence. When the majority of Congress was cowering and running away from a fight with the Democrats, Paul Ryan was the only person who put a budget out there.
Paul Ryan is the only Republican who has a proven record of standing toe-to-toe with the Democrats and fighting it out with them… and winning.
Paul Ryan should be our next Speaker of the House.
January 6 Congress begins its next session and will elect the Speaker on that day. We should be standing on the steps of the Capital while the vote is being taken.
If Boehner remains Speaker, all is lost.
Sir you really need to learn what Marxist is.
Explain it to us, dupe.
Calling the president a “marxist” is prejudicial. DBwriter doesn’t even believe the birth certificate is real just like all the TP racists.
In case you have a problem reading and comprehending the written English language, the response to your accusation that I needed to get an understanding of Marxism was:
“Explain it to us, dupe.”
And, again, you demonstrated that you can’t even define “Marxism”.
There is never a definition of Marxism in the material you are indoctrinated with. This is by design. The result is, you promote Marxism, but you wouldn’t be able to recognize a Marxist if one was brainwashing you with a bullhorn in your face.
Or, you can prove me wrong.
Define “Marxism” for us.
Don’t you people know that the United States is one of the few nations with for profit healthcare? Check out the stock prices for all the big insurance companies. The numbers don’t lie. The biggest thing the Insurance companies hate about ObamaCare is the amendment that 85% of premiums must go to actual healthcare. Leaving 15% for administration and profit.
Check out this 60 MInutes on Health Management Associates and Medi-Care fraud.
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50136261n
This website has been taken over by a bunch of trolls! Too bad the Tea Party Patriots is too inept to do anything about it for their real members.
How do you tell which is which?
Blue…Muslim =Black? What in Gods name are you talking about…what the hell do the two have in common? One is a religion wracked in polictics the other is a race. Wake up. Its people like you n jerry who havent a clue to whats real, who mock the TP. Most of the Black friends i have are devout Christians..cant stand Islam sweepin away their family members who have been inside, and…cant stomach oh hussein obama either. Wake up and smell the stentch of truth vs being spoon fed the sugar coated bs the media feeds you for this so called American without a birth-certificate, multiple social security numbers, multiple passports with different countries.losted as his home, different conflicting stories he tells of his family back ground, and the communist buddies he hung with all his life or the communist mentors he had eaching him as a young man, whom he idolizes. WAKE UP.
Everybody is complaining….what about real action…..doing something that has an impact. Where are he people with courage and ideas?
Obamacare needs to be eradicated and so does Obama! He is destroying our country. I don’t understand why people can’t see this.
Lynn, do you me kill Obama when you say eradicate? Murder is not legal in America or most of Congress would be long dead. We have to convict him of treason to get a death sentence. Perhaps prove he is a Communist born in Nigeria?
Jerry you are racist… jeez
Obama is half black. I guess I’m a racist too.
But you are not saying kill Obama are you? I think Lynn is too extremeist. We can’t go around killing people
What, Barnslayer, are you getting defensive? I don’t think I was calling you racist in this instance I was calling another TP racist as they are. I always find it funny when a white person defends their racism by saying “he’s half white” so they can’t be racist. If your not racist, leave the TP it’s full of racists. Wait you are sexist, never mind.
Or, we can discover how, after SEAL Team Six killed bin Laden without Obama and Vallerie Jarrett even knowing the operation was happening until the team was about 40 minutes from landing at bin Laden’s compound when it was leaked to Vallerie Jarrett that the operation was happening and she summoned Obama from the golf course, the very next “secret” mission of SEAL Team Six resulted in the helicopter delivering the assault team descending to the “secret” location where the team was to disembark right into the sights of lone Taliban waiting for them at the “secret” location with a rocket launcher.
Giving that information would be treason and subject to hanging after a conviction.
Once more “ObamaCare” like “Hillary Care” it is racist people fed to you by racists and sexists
According to your statement I gather anyone who criticizes a minority or a female is a racist or a sexist. I guess you don’t remember all the racist or sexist stuf that was said by you liberals about Sarah Palin, Condi Rice, Herman Cain, Allen West, or Mia Love. I hate hypocrites.
Lord don’t confuse Blue with facts, Barnslayer. She is so busy telling us all what “we think” and interpreting what we are all “really trying to say” she can barely think for herself. Good thing she has all of the left wing hate speech to rely on.
I’m a moderate (though, back in the 1990′s I would have just been “mainstream” or even “conservative”) I hate racists and sexists on both ends. However, I find it is highly EXTREMIST on the far right and the far right is ultimately holding everyone back! When did the Republican party get their first FEMALE Vice President candidate? 2008. When the Democrat party get their first FEMALE Vice President candidate? The 1970′s. Clinton nearly became the nominee of the Democrats, the Republicans haven’t even come close. Clearly, the other side is ahead by FORTY years. “Go back to the kitchen” I hear from the extremist TP and “oh no a black president” and oh yes.. especially Rush Limbaugh, he is the largest bigot of them all.
Blue state, you are about as moderate as William Ayers.
It is Obama Nocare. This is the same agenda that the Clinton’s tried to push. It was just taken out of the trash bin and recycled.
And that’s when the Republican party shifted from having California and the Northeast on their side, to basically becoming un-winnable: the 1990′s with the Clintons. That’s when Fox News sprung up 1996, then MSNBC became the “left” reactionary in the early 2000′s. Then the state’s right TP came in 2009. Next the Occupy movement the “left” reactionary in 2011.
The only people causing this polarization is YOU, the extremist “state’s righters” and losing CA, the NE, and just about everywhere which used to be the Federalist Republican BASE.
Has anyone tried Fax Blast at Tea Party.org as a way to reach Congress?
The people who come to this website go to TeaParty.org too. It’s one and the same. All TP. You read the same racism and sexism here too just look at this page saying the president is a muslim and born in Kenya = racism.
Dear Blue,
If you find yourself enraged with someone, to the point of trying to demean and insult them, when they simply asked you to explain your position then you may have evolved to the position of fanaticism. It is the constant questioning of ideas and positions that protects us all from fanatical progression. Fanaticism is what allows a husband to feel justified in beating his wife or a parent to justify the abuse that they perpetrate on their child because they are the best parent and they know what is right for the child. Fanaticism usually occurs with physical isolation and isolation of thought. There is no questioning of ideas or positions. There is no open discussion. There are no checks and balances. There is no input from “outsiders” allowed.
Philosopher George Santayana defines fanaticism as “redoubling your effort when you have forgotten your aim”; according to Winston Churchill, “A fanatic is one who can’t change his mind and won’t change the subject”. By either description the fanatic displays very strict standards and little tolerance for contrary ideas or opinions.
Check yourself!
DWK, funny, I would say the same about the TP.
Argument leads to arrest at tea party in Milwaukee, Wisconsin – 9/19/09
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Dg4m-AzuKc
It’s SEVEN TP v. ONE person who disagrees. Notice how he says “You’re not Christians!”
“The First Amendment is part of a group of 10 Amendments to the United States Constitution known as the Bill of Rights. The idea of adding a Bill of Rights to the Constitution was proposed by George Mason five days before the conclusion of the Constitutional Convention held in Philadelphia in 1787.[3] His proposal was rejected by the other delegates. Alexander Hamilton later argued in the Federalist Papers that a Bill of Rights was unnecessary, claiming that since the Constitution granted limited powers to the federal government, it did not grant the new government the power to abuse the rights that would be secured by a Bill of Rights.[4] Nevertheless, the supporters of the Constitution (known as Federalists) in order to secure its ratification in Massachusetts, agreed to add a group of Amendments to the Constitution after its ratification that would serve as a Bill of Rights.”
Even in 1787 they were very leary of giving the Federal government too much power, now Muslim Communists can propose laws that the liberals passed and the Traitor John Roberts supported.
Why would anyone worry?
The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence. All initiation of force is a violation of someone else’s rights, whether initiated by an individual or the state, for the benefit of an individual or group of individuals, even if it’s supposed to be for the benefit of another individual or group of individuals. Legitimate use of violence can only be that which is required in self-defense.
So says Ron Paul
This, my friends, is just “red meat for the base” put out by super PACS, whose funding comes from, who knows where? India, China, they do not have to tell. Confucius tells us that if we repeat the same thing, time after time, and expect a different result each time, we are either stupid, or insane. The speaker of the house has stated on the floor of Congress, that Obama care is settled law. So, if we want want to win in 2016, lets listen to our elder statesmen. If we take 50% of all voters, namely women, and threaten them with “vaginal probes” loss of birth control, repeal of Roe v Wade, and no equal pay for equal work, we will lose, every time. If we ignore 50 million legal Mexicans, 35 million blacks, 15 million assorted citizens with skin colors darker than ours, One third of our total population, we will lose, every time. High unemployment, bad economy, weak president, and we lost? why? Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, could have won. Why not run? they Did not want to lean so far to the right in the primary that they could not recover enough to win the election, Four years away, just think about it. This guy now has the chance to appoint from 1-3 supreme court justices, I fear for the second amendment,
I’m a little concerned. I don’t know why anyone who is a part of this group and is sick thinks the Affordable Care Act is not beneficial when it is supported by Neuropathy organizations and Neuropathy physicians, the Texas Medical Foundation http://www.texmed.org/Template.aspx?id=19882 and the Journal of General Internal Medicine to name a few …
Those in the health field (physicians, nurse practitioners, ect) generally support it…
I don’t think that you are responsible for me!
I guess you should be knocking on wood.
Don’t bite the hand that feeds you (though that’s what the TP is all about AKA snake logo)
The ignorance displayed on this site is staggering. Most civilized countries have health provision for all, in addition there is private insurance for those who think that the level of provision is not enough. The healthcare measures brought in will benefit the poor and not stop anyone buying the level of care they want. Blue is right, a lot of you are racists and crazy, you hide behind the “3 principles” but BTL you can’t help your mania showing through. The funny thing is you people are dupes, this provision will help you more than the wealth creating people in NY etc. Lets remember the big TP states are the biggest recipients of Federal dollars, Turkeys voting for Christmas.
Right the UK, France, Italy… I think the entire EU, Australia, Canada, ect.
What’s interesting is this law is actually extremely conservative compared to their healthcare systems, it is highly privatized, but these people are really simply prejudicial and attacking him for their hidden biases.
Unfortunately for you British voice your country has a lousy health care system worse than our current one out of 14 advanced countries it ranked worst for five-year survival rates in cervical, breast and colon cancers.
It ranks better in many other areas, dentistry for one, and we don’t leave poor people to die. Our life expectancy rates are 2 years longer than yours and our infant mortality rates are lower. So overall NHS good, dupes fooled by insurance industry, not so much.
I looked at the ranking and it looks like our healthcare system ranks 38th in the world. Sorry, but you have been fooled and tricked by the puppeteers.
Who is this Obama-shill “blue” anyway? Has he read the ObamaCare legislation? Wake UP! There is no right to health care – rather, it is an outright attach on your rights to LIFE & LIBERTY! My GOD! When are people like him going to wake up and realize what is going on? He has seized 1/7 of the economy and will ruin the best health care in the world! If you doubt that, than why are world leaders traveling to the US for health care?
And who seriously expects the Fed. Gov. to able to run this effectively, much less at lower cost? Are you stupid, lost your mind or already suffering from dementia? What Fed. Gov. health care system have they run effectively? NAME JUST ONE!
On the contrary, the Fed. Gov. health programs, and most if not all other programs, are rife with fraud, mis-managment, theft, deception, etc., etc., that is costing us all $B’s upon $B’s every year and this program is far worse.
Let’s end ObamaCare and all the other Social Welfare programs NOW! And then the Dept. of Ed, HUD, etc., etc. If it is NOT authorized in the US Constitution – IT’S GONE!!!
If you get sick, it is YOUR problem, not mine nor anyone else’s: you have no God-given right to FREE health care. Get over it.
Yeah better get rid of the entire modern world, that’s what you stone age types want.
sticks and stones
The World Health Organization ranks us 38th in healthcare. France, Japan and even Greece are higher ranked than us.
The WHO is a Communist front
If we love our country, we should also love our countrymen. – Ronald Reagan
Reagan was a communist, didn’t you know? So are WHO. Incidentally Britain ranks 18th , twenty places above the USA, maybe people should stop being duped by billionaires and think about fairness and morality.
Can you even define the word “communism”?
life isn’t fair ….get used to it
g2740cal, this is all really about social issues for you. The president cannot control the economy, this is a complete myth. There are 300 million people in America and about 3 million with security clearance in the government. I think you are simply hiding your prejudice by naming him your top target.
“World leaders traveling to the USA for healthcare” is not true anymore (maybe you are thinking 20 or more years ago?). They go to European countries mainly or other countries which are closer to them as they rank higher in healthcare.

Ex 2) Ailing Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat is undergoing urgent medical treatment in France for a mystery illness.

blue, you do lie a lot here. How about you give us another whopper and say something like “I never used the words ‘Bush economy’”.
How sad to see all the negative trash talk pop up once more on the TPP web site. I was going to send the explanaition of ACA to a friend but not after reading all the negative crap by commntators after it.
It astounds me why TPP allows idiots like this Blue character on the page. We are exposed to an overwhelming volume of BS and lies from all the liberals, Democrats and mass media outlets daily. However they still feel the need of a bull horn to get their points across which accounts for all the labeling and racist claims. In general they know damn well we are smarter than they want us be, and can tell the difference between rain and someone pissing on our shoes.
Don’t get sucked into having lengthy conversations with a fool who has only one song to sign. There are no answers in his lyrics, only the same old fairy tales used to get the Jack Ass in Chief re-elected. My suggestion is to get on with building a life and forget about all town criers desperate to get your ear for the latest load of crap they want to peddle in their effort to convince you they have the answers on how you should live. Liberals can’t distinquish their rear ends from a hole in the ground with out guidance from their lord and master sitting the white house.
I keep reading this crap written by BLUE. It is my OPINION that she is a socialist idiot who should get a job as a professional name caller. There is no doubt in my mind that she is one of the takers and she herself, a hateful racist and deplores individual freedom and thinks that she is entitlied to the fruits of my labor… It is apparent to me that anyone who disagrees with her view is racist, sexist, christian, republican, state rightist, fear monger, Nazi, Mussolini Fascist, terrorist,or even a “sissy”,bigot.( all her words )
I believe that this country has fallen and there and there are more people riding the cart than are pushing it. (Please note the debt clock ) The quote that comes to mind is from Ben Franklin “When the people find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”
The Real issue here is not health care but instead freedom …liberty …( the right for you to throw a punch ends at my nose ) just think of all the laws that apply to you right where you are sitting right now … can’t smoke, gotta wear a seat belt, gotta wear a helmet, gotta pay taxes on property you already own. paying taxes to that provide money to murder unborn children. and oh my god …all the gun laws…just think of the reams of paper that you pay for to make laws that oppress individual freedom and to protect you from yourself…
The he inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.
The key to liberty is individual responsibility for yourself and tolerance of those with a different view…don’t make me pay for your decision to murder your unborn child and I will be tolerant of your decision to burn in hell….get it?
See , there in your last line you reveal the cancer at the heart of the lie that is the TP. There is a pretence that it’s all about fiscal responsibility but whilst that may be the public face the true values are bigotry, greed and quite frankly stupidity. When I lived in your country for 8 years I paid a hell of a lot of tax, because I’m a high earner, I wasn’t represented because you don’t get to vote on a green card, fair enough though. However, when i looked about me it wasn’t people who worked hard who complained about tax, it was the lazy with a chip on the shoulder, the people who looked one rung down the social ladder and said “I’m better than you”.
Civilised societies make provision for the disadvantaged and the less able, its a sign of humanity, its the Christian thing to do as well. It’s why social provision came in to place in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Because alongside the fear of socialist revolution, REAL christians, not just those who use it as a cultural excuse for bigotry, saw that it was the christian thing to look after the needy.
Still, we shouldn’t worry, your movement is in disarray, the American people rejected you. Why? Because America is far far better than your mean-spirited selfish movement. It’s interesting that in your lexicon of hate you forgot the Patriot Act, the biggest dent in US liberties since the Revolution.
And that is why the United States is the most generous country in the history of civilization. That generosity comes mostly from conservative people contributing a mountain of money to charitable organizations. If we had to rely on contributions from, oh, say, Obama or Biden, the so-called “poor” would starve and die of exposure.
Your assertion is not consistent with the facts of history. Perhaps you were misled in your last indoctrination session.
I’m confused. How can you be Pro-Life but yet want people to go hungry.
The United States of America is one of the very, very few countries that has ever existed where a person can choose their living standard. If a person makes the choices that result in a life of poverty, then that person is responsible for their own poor choices. Everyone here has the opportunity to not be poor. Here’s a simpole guide on how to not be poor:
1) Take advantage of the multitude of opportunities to become educated.
2) Study something useful to the economy. (We don’t need any more political science and fine arts graduates. Those are useless degrees.) Or, acquire a skill.
3) Get a job. Show up for work every day… on time.
4) Do what you’re paid to do when you are being paid to work.
5) Become a student of your profession and make a career out of it.
If you do these things, you will not be poor in the United States.
Now, what’s wrong with that system?
So anyone who can’t make it is lazy? I really hope you don’t become so ill you can’t work. If you do, I suggest suicide so you stick to your principles.
Being lazy is one reason. Making poor choices, like hanging out late at night on a street corner instead of getting sleep so you can work all day the next day is another reason. Getting fired over and over because of por performance or too many days missing work or doing drugs is another reason. Getting a degree in political science, then spending a life telling the established professionals in that industry how everything should be is another reason.
Become as educated as practibable.
Get a job.
Show up for work every day… on time.
Start a career.
Do what you are paid to do.
Become a student of your porfession.
If you do this, you won’t be poor.
If you want to be rich, learn how to manage a business and make your own management decisions and turn a profit. But, to do this you have to take a risk. You could lose everything. Then, you’d have to drop back to some point and start working again.
What’s wrong with this system?
What about the people who do work but still can’t afford to feed their families?
What kind of work do they do? If they’ve been working for 2 or three years and are still making minimum wage, then they are most likely being paid what they are worth, or more than they are worth.
How big of a family?
I seemed to be able to support myself with minimum wage when I had to accept it. But, I didn’t choose to start a family while making minimum wage. And, I advanced beyond minimum wage.
If a person is making minimum wage here, that’s most likely because that’s all they are worth.
If you want to make more than minimum wage, do these simple things:
Become as educated as practicable.
Get a job.
Show up for work every day… on time.
Become a student of your profession.
Make a career of your profession.
If you noticed, I didn’t say do drugs, get arrested, gamble all your money away, drive drunk, hang out with the “bros” on the corner all night, etc., etc., etc. If you choose to do those things, you will be poor.
You are responsible for yourself. If the government subsidizes obviously poor decisioins, then the easiest prediction to make ever is the frequency of poor decisions will increase.
There are no perfect systems. The only reasonable expectation is to minimize the percentage of the population that makes poor choices. Any attempt to create a perfect system will bankrupt any economy.
What’s wrong with that system is that there are people working 20 hours a day who still can’t feed their families. I lived in a predominantly Hispanic neighbourhood in NY, most people I knew there worked 2 or 3 jobs to keep their families fed and clothed. When they lost a job it was because the business had problems not through their fault. That’s why civilised societies have safety nets.
Who works 20 hours a day anda can’t feed their family?
You are lying now.
You’re busted. Shut up.
It’s more like Pro Fetus not Pro Life.
George Shallus Doogood: It IS apparent to me that you are a racist, sexist, state’s rightist, and DOOM and GLOOM. It’s all in the post you wrote above!
And No, I do NOT think you are a Republican (you wouldn’t be one 20 years ago or be extremist anti-government fringe) and your Christian views are highly differing from my own “pay or die or go to hell” I think that is more un-religous talk than religious. Your attitude is disgusting. It appears to me this is all about SOCIAL issues to you, to mainly control others and keep your hierarchy and this “3 principle” nonsense is simply a front for your uncontrolled bigotry.
“States rightist” ?
Are you rebelling against the government of the United States? Are you promoting that the president rebel against the government of the United States?
You do realize that the government of the United States is as defined in the Constitution, and promoting violation of anything in the Constitution is promoting rebillion against the government of the United States, don’t you?
I have to say that this conversation thread has been quite illuminating. Sadly, the light shed has not shone brightest on the manifold concerns surrounding “Obamacare”; but rather on the near-total disintegration of civil debate in the public square.
While there have been many whom have posted substantive concerns about the impact of the Affordable Care Act on their lives, they have been nearly drowned out by those few who have “answered” their concerns with mudslinging of the basest sort. As we have already seen happen in the media, the ill-mannered, clamorous few have successfully robbed the public square of meaningful discussion on a topic with not only broad fiscal but also immediate private consequences.
For the record: I am against the Affordable Care Act. When passing the legislation, the Congress yet again abdicated their legislative responsibilities to a still-unformed regulatory board. Consequently, we the public have been deprived of a clear understanding of not only what to expect from our government, but also what our government will expect from us. In so doing, we come ever closer to being a nation of men, not of laws.
British Voice,
I speak not for any movement or about fiscal responsibility, or greed or the patriot act nor am I complaining about my social status, I have no chip on my shoulder. I speak as an Individual …a party of one …I speak of liberty …..liberty …and the loss of it …the end of the USA and the beginning of the USSA ( may the USA and the US Constitution rest in Peace) …this country has fallen and now the people who have given up their freedom in exchange for safety now have neither ….( again lets look at the national debt clock )
This brings to mind another quote from Dwight D Eisenhower “If you want total security, go to prison. There you’re fed, clothed, given medical care and so on. The only thing lacking… is freedom.
It seems that you too have the same problem as BLUE You have no respect for individual Liberty on the pretense that the government knows best !!!
You say,”Civilized societies make provision for the disadvantaged and the less able, its a sign of humanity, its the Christian thing to do as well.”
The difference is that you believe that the “Civilized societies” should come to my home and take the taxes by threat of fine, imprisonment and eventually at the point of a gun!…..and then decide who needs the help ( and I know lots of people who are taking advantage of the Welfare system ) and redistribute the funds as they see fit
I believe that when I see someone struggling that I should do the Christian thing and ..rake the leaves or cook the food and deliver it, stack the wood for them with my own hand because i see the need …and also teach the young ones to do the same.
…And lets not forget …you came here and visited from a socialist country and are NOT and never were an American. there fore you have no skin in the game .. I am an American…and a True Son of the Revolution… not just some guy who jumped the fence yesterday …
On a personal note …I have a 3 minimum wage jobs, diabetes, and no insurance because after paying it since 1989…. the company that I paid all those funds too stopped handling individual accounts ( never had to pay one thin dime) when obamacare was passed …so I had to pay all of my medical bills out of pocket …no one owes me anything !!!

To George Shallus Doogood and the TP:
“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”
President Dwight D. Eisenhower, l952—–
It seems that you too have the same problem as BLUE You have no respect for individual Liberty on the pretense that the government knows best !!!

What about Corporations like Wal-Mart who pays their employees 30% less than other retailers. In quarter 3 they profit 4 billion. 50% of Wal-Mart employees are on foodstamps and cost the American Taxpayer 1.5 Billion dollars. In many small towns they ran off many small businesses. I think we are blaming the wrong people
Ill take the walmart job…..anything to stay off the dole
They don’t understand that. There’s been times when I wish I could have had something as good as a Wallmart job.
They are just whining like spoiled children because they don’t get everything they want today, and just won’t make the sacrifices to get it.
Tough.
Get a job. Show up for work every goddam day… on time. Do what they pay you to do. Do this all your life like what is expected of you.
Nobody who does this will be poor.
Unfortunately it does not work like that. I truly believe in personal responsibility but at the same time Corporations need to be responsible too.
sounds like the corps are already taking care of you ?
Its funny that you would rather blame some poor person than a Corporation who makes record profits and won’t pay their employees industry standard pay. I’m a small business owner and I would never work for a corporation.
Thus, we have laws governing corporate behavior. That’s how it works.
A corporation is interested in making a profit. A workforce is needed to turn that profit. That workforce has a worth, and a cost.
If you don’t like your job, or your job isn’t paying enough, you need to increase your worth to the economy. Ultimately, in a healthy economy, a person is paid according to their worth to the economy.
If the best job you can get is working at Wallmart, then thank God you live in the United States where someone as worthless as you can still get a job at Wallmart. And, if you have a change of attitude, and you help Wallmart, and you become proficient and reliable, you will become more valuable to Wallmart and they will give to you more money.
There is a finite solution. The net worth of the workforce has a finite value. To increase the compensation to lesser significant people in the workforce can only be done by decreasing the compensation to more significant people in the workforce.
Because…. write this down if you have to….
MONEY DOESN’T GROW ON TREES.
If you want more money, take it upon yourself to become woorth more to the economy. That’s the way the people who gave you everything you have did it. If you want to give the same thing to your grandchildren, you should do what has worked. You definitely shouldn’t do what has been proven over and over again to create chaos and caused economies to collapse and populations to be put into mass poverty.
Learn from history and don’t make the same mistakes you should be aware of other countries making… that is, if you had what is called an education, and not party line mantra indoctrination.
When I was poor, I worked every day to not be poor. Now, I’m not poor.
That’s how it works.
Get a job.
Show up for work every day… on time.
Do what you’re paid to do.
Become a student of your profession.
If anyone does this, they won’t be poor.
Small businesses treat their employees better than corporations in general. I’d rather work at a small business than a large corporation such as Walmart, which everyone knows treats their employees horribly and like numbers.
How would you know? You’re just another leech on the government dole.
Get a job.
It this is all about guns for you go join the NRA. That would probably be a better group.
Once again, this shows another social issue for you. This is what the TP is about fake words and racism.
I believe that when I see someone struggling that I should do the Christian thing and ..rake the leaves or cook the food and deliver it, stack the wood for them with my own hand because i see the need …and also teach the young ones to do the same.

Careful there son, your mad prejudice is showing. I’m all for personal liberty alongside a social contract. THE PEOPLE elect THE GOVERNMENT, TAXES are decided democratically. How come people like you never complain about taxes for defence? No, it’s greed, prejudice and in your case gross stupidity. In case you didn’t know the USA, was built by immigrants and we have a conservative government in Britain. I came home to Britain because after 9/11 all the ugly worms like you came crawling out from their rocks and the USA took a step backwards, but under Obama and the young voters who put him there and will put another liberal in 2016, people like you will be ever more marginal. Nobody is advocating socialism for the USA , As I say, though, I’m very happy for the USA that people like you are a dying breed.
I too have 3 jobs and I am looking for another ….when I add all the taxes together …they come to about 65 percent of my income …and then the government waste it …I find it hard not to notice!
You might want to check your math. This isn’t Canada. Nobody get’s taxed 65% on income not even lottery winners
add the gas taxes …personal property taxes …real estate taxes, food taxes utility taxes inspection taxes …add all the things that you use daily….tax on the cell phone …and look at what you have left ….35%??
Yeah right, do they have a special crazy tax just for you? The tax burden in the USA and UK is historically low at the moment. Look at tax rates when Nixon was in power, if you are paying 65% tax its because you’re an idiot.
Well, I suggest you stay there. Since you feel really great about Obama snubbing the Britts and bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia, and later trying to shout down the Royal Band when they struck up “God Save the Queen”, thinking they were playing the American patriotic song “Let Freedom Ring” and being completely ignorant of the well-known fact that the two numbers have the exact same musical score, and ordering the US Navy to sit and watch while Samali pirates re-captured an American captain of a merchant ship, and called the Cambridge police “stupid” when he was completely ignorant of the situation, and showed himself to be completely ignorant of what the official policy of the US government is concerning Israel’s borders but regurgitated the anti-Israel/anti-US/pro-Islamist terrorist party line without hesitation, then being spanked by Netenyahu, then being spanked by Putin, and on, and on, and on, and inviting the Wahabist Muslim Brotherhood (notice I didn’t say representatives of the government of Egypt) routinely into the White House, and issuing edicts to the population as if he can just write his won laws like this is some medieval feifdom with serfs bound to the land….
You get the message. You admire that?
Please, since we disgust you so much, stay away from this country.
By the way, how about you pretend to be a rugby ball get put in between the Bath and Northampton front rows. I wouldn’t mind heeling you back through a row or two.
Another crazy, take a breath, son, letting that oxygen circulate may help your brain. I read your posting but all I got was , bleurgh Obama bleurgh Baaaad bleurgh Muslim.
Your ignorance is a shining example of the TP mentality. The billionaires who run you chumps, like you to be ignorant, and boy, they must love you. I love the USA, its far right scum, whatever the background, that I despise.
Everyone should give back their Christmas bonus to the JOB creators so they can create more JOBS. Without the top 1% there would be no jobs!
If you don’t have a JOB because you collect Social Security, write a check to one of the Fortune 500 companies.
There are many statements here. Pick any one out and tell us why it isn’t reflective reality. In short, why the statement is inaccurate.
I’ll help you. Here’s the statements again:
Obama snubbing the Britts and bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia, and later trying to shout down the Royal Band when they struck up “God Save the Queen”, thinking they were playing the American patriotic song “Let Freedom Ring” and being completely ignorant of the well-known fact that the two numbers have the exact same musical score, and ordering the US Navy to sit and watch while Samali pirates re-captured an American captain of a merchant ship, and called the Cambridge police “stupid” when he was completely ignorant of the situation, and showed himself to be completely ignorant of what the official policy of the US government is concerning Israel’s borders but regurgitated the anti-Israel/anti-US/pro-Islamist terrorist party line without hesitation, then being spanked by Netenyahu, then being spanked by Putin, and on, and on, and on, and inviting the Wahabist Muslim Brotherhood (notice I didn’t say representatives of the government of Egypt) routinely into the White House, and issuing edicts to the population as if he can just write his won laws like this is some medieval feifdom with serfs bound to the land.
Hellfire, if you have a check to a Fortune 500 company they probably wouldn’t create a single other job. If they did, it would be for Harvard graduates, which I doubt the TP has many of.
Corporation profit is through the roof if you have ever looked. It’s small businesses which are feeling the weight.
DBWriter, the president likes the Britts. It was Mittens who snubbed them, remember? You TP called him “moderate,” yet he bowed down to some of your whims and was considered too conservative for the Republican party in 2008. If you TP came into the presidency, the entire world would hate us instantly.
You do have a way of saying the most rediculous things and making me laugh.
The president likes the Britts. Now, that’s a laugh.
That explains how grateful they were when Obama gave the Queen of England an ipod with him reading from a teleprompter as a goddam state gift. Come on. Give me a break. That’s like you giving someone you met for the first time a picture of yourself as a Christmas gift.
And Obama shouting over the Royal Band. That was like watching a Three Stooges episode.
Jostling with the Queen like she’s some trollop in a trailer park. That really impressed them, too.
How about Obama bow to the Queen of England EXACTLY like he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia?
Nope. Obama is too much of a racist to do that.
George Shallus Doogood, You are a “true son of the Revolution”?!?!!?!
Jeez take your racism and lineage breathing somewhere else
On a personal note …I have a 3 minimum wage jobs diabetes no insurance because after paying it since 1989…. the company that I paid all those funds too stopped handling individual accounts when obamacare was passed …so I had to pay all of my medical bills out of pocket …no one owes me anything !!!

hahahahahahahahahahahaha
well dbwriter i tried to read your post and make sense of it and be able to respond and write an answer to you but then it struck me that you wrote one bullshit sentence of insanity without proper punctuation and that I couldn’t give a flying one what a drone like you without a thought that isnt generated by Fox news says and I decided I wasn’t going to engage with a lunatic and that is what happened.
I will say though, try to read some books, maybe travel some, it broadens the mind. I’d suggest big books and lots of travel because there’s one heck of a lot of broadening to be done.
Moderated now! TP Liberty at its best.
Ah curse words aren’t allowed, how grown up. I’ll try again:

Go eat some limes! We don’t need to read books! Fox News spoon feeds us all the important information we need.
You have limited ability with the written English language. It’s correctly punctuated.
But, I’ll simplify it for you. I’ll break it up into individual statements, a line for each:
Obama snubbing the Britts and bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia,
and later trying to shout down the Royal Band when they struck up “God Save the Queen”, thinking they were playing the American patriotic song “Let Freedom Ring” and being completely ignorant of the well-known fact that the two numbers have the exact same musical score,
and ordering the US Navy to sit and watch while Samali pirates re-captured an American captain of a merchant ship,
and called the Cambridge police “stupid” when he was completely ignorant of the situation, and showed himself to be completely ignorant of what the official policy of the US government is concerning Israel’s borders but regurgitated the anti-Israel/anti-US/pro-Islamist terrorist party line without hesitation,
then being spanked by Netenyahu,
then being spanked by Putin, and on, and on, and on,
and inviting the Wahabist Muslim Brotherhood (notice I didn’t say representatives of the government of Egypt) routinely into the White House, and issuing edicts to the population as if he can just write his won laws like this is some medieval feifdom with serfs bound to the land.
Choose any statement and tell us why it is not accurate, then provide an accurate description of the event.
Sorry. I forgot to break up these two statements:
and called the Cambridge police “stupid” when he was completely ignorant of the situation,
and showed himself to be completely ignorant of what the official policy of the US government is concerning Israel’s borders but regurgitated the anti-Israel/anti-US/pro-Islamist terrorist party line without hesitation,
Now, break out your Big Chief tablet with the dotted lines and tell us what is inaccurate, and give us an accurate description of the event(s).
… same:
and inviting the Wahabist Muslim Brotherhood (notice I didn’t say representatives of the government of Egypt) routinely into the White House,
and issuing edicts to the population as if he can just write his won laws like this is some medieval feifdom with serfs bound to the land.
We have these things in the English language, called sentences. We usually try to use them to form coherent meanings. What we don’t do is string together a whole lot of disparate, biased rubbish without periods using the word AND to link them. Now when you can put together a meaningful paragraph properly constructed with sentences, I may engage with you. Probably not though, as I prefer debates with people of at least nearly the same intellectual level, and I have had pets with more grasp of the issues than you.
Obviously, you’ve never read anything written by one of the greatest authors ever, William Faulkner.
Get an education.
And how about you answering the post….
Pick any statement and tell us what is inaccurate, then give us the accurate description of the event(s).
on a side note…… William Faulkner was a great writer.
DBWriter, you have a limited ability of the English language. You punctuated it incorrectly.
I’ll write it again:
DBWriter, the president likes the Britts. It was Mittens who snubbed them, remember? You TP called him “moderate,” yet he bowed down to some of your small-minded whims and was considered too conservative for the Republican party in 2008. If you TP came into the presidency, the entire world would hate us instantly!
DBWriter: “spanked” once again sexism! Also, you, like the TP are narrow minded and afraid of the world as in your TP UN conspiracy theories. Interesting, there were some extremists who were arrested by the government who shared these theories. Join the lowest of the low and get up with fleas.
This is worth saying again.
If you paid any attention, you’d see that Obama is nothing more than just another sexist and racist radical.
The president likes the Britts. Now, that’s a laugh.

Go watch some Top Gear on the BBC. I bet Jeremy Clarkson supports the Tea Party.
He may have to wear his t-shirt in his closet, if this clown is an adequate representative of what has become of the Britts… who used to be the most fiscally sane people in the world.
Gotta love a country that invented rugby.
They also invented the Spitfire, Harrier Jump Jet, Lee-Enfield Rifle, and best of all Downton Abbey.
Oh my, you’re comparing your insane rant to Faulkner? You’re an unintentionally funny buffoon.
DBWriter, You are wrong about William Faulkner, he was not a great author because he wrote about the Fall of the South due to living a sinful life. The American South used to be one of the greatest societies until the Civil War ended it all…
“The American South used to be one of the greatest societies until the Civil War ended it all…”
WOW, Hellfire loved America’s slave drivers!
As I said, the TP desires re-segregation and slavery again! Racism at its best.
You forgot to put content into your post. You didn’t address one single statement you disagree with. Choose any statement and tell us why it is inaccurate. Then, give us an accurate description of the event. I’ll help you. Here’s the post again:

The only aspects DBWriter and Hellfire know about the British is “Top Gear” and “Rugby”? How sad.
Then again for TP Hellfire to call the “American South the greatest society until the Civil War ended it all.”
(AKA want re-segregation and slavery again), it does NOT surprise me.
The only aspects you are aware of is a more accurate statement.
But, rugby is enough. Rugby is a sport that defines the true Britton, or what Brittons were who created the legacy they live with today.
There is something else about them that impresses me even more than rugby, though.
It’s Briton, not Britton, Rugby, whilst it is exciting is a minority sport, real football (which you call soccer) is our national game. I’m not addressing your list of manias because they are biased rubbish, if you present facts in a coherent way I will address them.
Rugby is an identity of the English people. You can’t get away from that fact.
Here’s the list again. Try not to run away from it this time.

So George, are you arguing for zero taxation? Or is just certain things you don’t want your taxes to pay for? Or just the overall level of tax?
How about this:
EVERYONE pays taxes.
Now, that would be what I call a fair tax. Everyone has to pay for the government the majority of people elects.
What could be more fair than that?
And if you don’t have enough money to pay taxes?
If you receive 100 dollars, you give the government 10 to 15 dollars. If you receive 10 dollars, you give the government 1 dollar to a dollar-fifty.
If you receive money, you give part of that money to the government. Perhaps that may leave less money to buy booze or drugs or tatoos or guns or lottery tickets or a designer hoodie, etc., etc., etc.
If you get ten dollars, you have enough money to give the government a dollar.
Everyone has to start paying for the government they elect.
That’s the only fair tax. Half the country paying all the country’s taxes isn’t fair. I can think of a lot of things the government needs to do with your money. If they used my money, I can guarantee you the government would need to be a whole lot smaller.

OK just to enlighten you Obama addressed a meeting which Muslim Brotherhood members attended in Cairo, also there was the Israeli Ambassador. He has met with President Morsi because Egypt is an ally of the USA. Obama has expressed staunch support of Israel and has had Islamist terrorists killed across the Muslim world, to accuse him of supporting Islamism is absurd fantasy, conspiracy theory trash.
Rugby is a game which some not most British people play, Football is far more representative.
Whiskey is a drink which most Irish people don’t take. Beer is far more popular.
Now, try describing the Irish without saying whiskey. Can’t do it.
You can’t describe Britts without saying Rugby. Rugby is the second most popular sport in the world. And, it was invented by Britts.
You, obviously, don’t like it. But, you’re probably someone who dislikes having to accept any kind of a challenge. Thus, you’re just another person looking for some gravy train to ride pulled by the people who do things like invent Rugby.
Wrong I played Rugby for many years, 2nd row. I played for my school team, I like Rugby, I go to see Northampton Saints. But, the point is Rugby has always been a minority sport in Britain (note the single T) , it is not integral to our culture, which you simply don’t understand. I understand US culture, because I lived there for many years, your knowledge of British culture is miniscule. Rugby wasn’t “invented” it’s simply a variation of the game of football, which has been part of British culture since the middle ages.
OK just to enlighten you Obama addressed a meeting which Muslim Brotherhood members attended in Cairo, also there was the Israeli Ambassador. Baggers should be FOR Obamacare. They seriously need treatment for mental health disorders, obesity and alcoholism. Stupid isn’t a medical condition, so they will need help on that point through some other means.
There are many ways to control the cost of health care and obamacare isn’t one of them the few good things with this bill could have been taken care of with a ten page bill. The poor already had a way to get coverage, the rich were OK, everyone with insurance were OK, and the people in the middle could work it out with the hospital. If you call the billing dept. there are charities that will help, the hospital will help, and you can make payments. My daughter had a 107,000.00 bill when her son was born with no insurance. She called the billing dept and filled out the paper work, got help and made payments on the remaining 7,000.00
I’ve been reading a lot of these posts and in some there is truth and they do make some good points. Others on the other hand seem to be based on ignorance and lies, and others I find to be either childish or capable of earning a spot on Comedy Central.
In the Tea Party’s defense, the issues with which they are concerned have nothing to do with race as some have alleged. The fact that Alen West, a man of color, has been backed by the Tea Party should have made it very clear that the Tea Party is by no means racist. Now, I have not heard anything about the results of the final recount in that particular house race-and it would be nice if West has managed to retain his seat-but even if he did lose, the fact that the Tea Party supported the candidacy of a black man should have silenced and debunked all the baseless accusations of racism that have been hurled at the Tea Party.
If the Tea Party is governed by racist, then why would Alen West want to associate with them? It wouldn’t make any sense. Furthermore, I receive Tea Party letters and e-mail on a regular basis and have not found anything racist in their material, but should there happen to be any amongst the Tea Party membership with such attitudes, the Tea Party would do well to purge themselves of such members so that their name is not disgraced and their cause not damaged.
Raising taxes on the wealthy or anyone for that matter will not work out for anyone. If your employer wouldn’t give you a raise in a season of prosperity, do not expect it to happen in a time of economic turmoil, because even if they wanted to, they won’t be able to afford it. Furthermore, because of the raise in taxes, and the Affordable Healthcare Act, consumer prices are bound to increase, and if they don’t increase, working hours will be shortened and more layoffs will take place because either three will inevitably have to take place in order for the businesses to survive.
I happen to be a generation Xer, born in the eighties, and I have tried to explain this simple concept to some of my fellow Xer’s and Y’s but they don’t seem to get it. You don’t have to be an economics expert to understand that if you tighten things on the wealthy, the lower classes will inevitably feel the pinch as well, and that is not because everyone of wealth necessarily wants to do that to those beneath them, but because they are being forced to by the higher tax rates and the unknown Obamacare costs.
I suppose the only reason as to why a lot of people don’t seem to grasp that simple wisdom is because there must be some jealousy and resentment towards those who are successful and therefore want to exact some form of punishment in spite of the fact that it is the wealthy after all that are the business makers and the job producers.
Granted, the capitalist system has its share of corruption. I will not argue against the fact of corporate greed or that consumers have been exploited and workers taken advantage of, but increased regulations and taxation never solved any of those problems. In fact, overregulation and heavy taxation only serve to make matters worse for everyone. Many people don’t seem to understand this. I can only hope and pray that should prices go up next year, pay checks become smaller, and more people file for unemployment, that more people will wise up, but if not, then we truly have become a nation of fools.
For those who still have a job, be it part time or full time, it would not be in your best interest for your employer to be heavily taxed. If that happens, your pay check might decrease, or worse, you might find yourself out of a job; consequences for increasing taxes upon the wealthy.
Equal distribution of wealth sounds great on the surface, but what it really becomes is an equal distribution of poverty. There are some that would like to do away with the capitalist system altogether, but that would not solve the problem of the greed and corruption of which it is accused. That same greed and corruption within our capitalist system would only be recycled and transferred into another system: Communism.
Even if the Occupy people did have their way and did succeed in creating what they believe to be this Marxist Utopia, sooner or later, they would be right back out on the streets rioting and protesting against the very system they created, realizing that this so-called equal distribution of wealth is not what the proponents thereof make it out to be and that the corruption of corporate America that they protested against only got transferred into their Marxist system.
And are the proponents of Communism and Socialism going to live by the very rules they seek to subject everyone else to? Well, according to history, Joseph Stalin didn’t, neither did Mao or Castro, or any of the Kims of North Korea. And if the far-left should succeed in their goals, I can guarantee anyone this: neither will they live by the rules they subject the rest of us to. The only ones who seem to benefit most from a socialistic or communist system is the ruling class. Most everyone else will be barely scraping by. Likewise, those who will benefit most from the Obamacare will be the ones who crafted it in the first place. Everyone else will eventually find themselves being screwed over and the consequences thereof are already manifesting.
Already there is a hidden tax that threatens to impact medical device companies in a bad way and could put even some out of business. This could in turn cause consumer prices on medical services and supplies to go up. And already, there are even some democrats in congress calling for a delay in that tax, now realizing its implications. But that tax should not only be delayed. It needs to be done away with permanently.
And before I go one. One of the posts I read in this section erroneously stated that the term “Obamacare” was proposed by racists. But race had nothing to do with that. The Affordable Care Act received that term because it was the President who first proposed this monstrosity. Furthermore that same person who stated that socialism is a racist term obviously hasn’t studied their history. Socialism is a tenet of Marxism! No doubt anyone making these foolish race-based claims would rightfully earn a place on Bill O’rielly’s “pin head” list.
Clearly there is an agenda behind the unfounded race-based accusations that get hurled at the opponents of higher taxes on the top earners and the healthcare bill by the far-left, or should I say, and I have to say it like it is, the socialists and communists that have infiltrated various segments of our society. Their goal is to divide us racially and by class; something the Tea Party does not want to do. But this divide is being implemented by the conspirators for one reason: Divide and conquer. And when one group begins resorting to such baseless rhetoric, it is because the case for their cause isn’t strong enough and when baseless rhetoric doesn’t work, they will resort to intimidation tactics and in some cases, even violence in an attempt to silence their detractors.
We have done well in recognizing who our foreign enemies are, but we seem to be largely ignorant of who our domestic enemies are. The media bias, the lies of our education system, the misleading propaganda of our entertainment industry, the overregulation and call for higher taxes, the attacks on our Constitutional rights, and the massive spending and borrowing; these cannot all be attributed to ignorance, irresponsibility, or bad policies passed with the best of intentions. There are forces and powers behind the scenes that are deliberately inspiring and orchestrating these things for nothing more than to eventually rob us of our God-given liberties, bring us into bondage, and destroy our way of life.
What is needed is not higher taxes, but a greater tax base and a sensible reform of the tax code. The way to create a greater tax base is to create more jobs, and the way to create more jobs is to keep tax rates low, repeal unnecessary regulations except those that are needed for health and safety and to protect workers and consumers from exploitation. Energy independence is also a must. The EPA has made it nearly impossible for us to legally access our own resources and has forced us to rely more on foreign oil; our gas prices being dictated by the whims of the Arab based OPEC and whatever events take place in the middle east. This is unacceptable. Our economy would be done a massive favor and would be more secure if oil and natural gas companies had much easier access to the oil and natural gas reserves that we have available on our own soil.
We shouldn’t close our minds to alternative energy sources, but until an alternative source of energy is found that is just as effective, if not more so, in meeting our energy needs as oil, natural gas, and coal, we remain dependent upon oil, natural gas, and coal.
If tax rates are kept low and unnecessary regulations repealed, more businesses would be established, more jobs created, and competition would increase; thereby helping to lower living costs.
The people should demand a full disclosure of what our tax money is being spent on. Social services and entitlement programs are likely but a fraction of what our tax dollars are being spent on. Much more of our tax money is likely going to programs that are either non-essential, non-productive, or even harmful. If all such were deprived of tax payer dollars-and not just on the national level, but the state level as well-deficits would go down and more money would be saved.
Not all poor people are necessarily moochers; just like not all people of wealth are greedy and selfish. There are a lot of poor people who work and try to be productive citizens, but I won’t deny that there are those who won’t do anything on their part to lessen the burden of their poverty but instead rely on the entitlements and spend the money given to them on drugs and booze and are lazy.
And then, there are those entitlement dependent people who want to work, but are afraid of losing their benefits and that the salary they start out with will not be enough to make ends meet and I have met an individual who was deaf and who tried to hold down a full time job; it was a minimum wage job and not enough to pay all the necessary expenses and unfortunately, the social services scared this man out of his job by threatening to take away his SSI. He should be admired for his attempts to overcome his disability not threatened with punishment.
Our social services though appearing to provide stability for the poor don’t help the poor to escape poverty and improve their living standards, but instead have been set up to keep the poor in their poverty.
Independence from government benefits does not necessarily happen overnight. When one tries to join the work force, sometimes the job they get may not necessarily work out, and its back to the drawing board; most of us have been there. That is why when someone who has been on some form of disability or welfare attempts to join the work force, before their disability or welfare check is taken from them or reduced, at least a one to two year time period should be allowed to make sure that person has found a job they can successfully hold down.
After they have shown that they have been able to successfully hold down a job, then the time comes to begin to reduce their entitlement check, not too much at a time but gradually, as the amount of their wages increase either by advancing up in their current job or by the acquiring of a higher paying job or even a career.
Often times, people start out with a minimum wage job and may remain there for quite some time until they find something better. Furthermore, not everyone starts out with a full time job. They may first start out with a part time job. Neither a full time minimum wage job or part time job are enough for one person to pay all the expenses necessary and save money. But much needs to be done to inform those who want to improve their standard of living of the different job, educational, and career opportunities that will set them on that path.
The message that needs to get out to those who have been over dependent on government subsidies is why relying on entitlements is not a good thing. Those living on subsidies need to understand that they should not continue to rely on such for any longer than necessary. Yes, there comes a time in some cases when some form of assistance is needed, even from the government, but those who have found themselves relying on such services should not rely on them for any longer than they have to, but should be looking for a way to become independent of any form of government subsidies.
The government programs that many of the poor have relied on may have been established with the best of intentions at first, but at some point, the social services were perverted and twisted in such a manner so as to keep the poor reliant on them. There is a plan behind causing and keeping as many people as possible dependent upon the government for their survival. Once a people is either conditioned or driven into a state of dependency, they are just one step away from becoming slaves to that which they have come to rely on for their needs and security. Once a people has become too dependent upon the services of the powers that be, it then becomes very difficult to retain leverage over the governing powers, and the government at that point, has been given the leverage necessary to begin to take as much control as they desire over the lives of the people, thus taking away their liberties such as the freedom of speech and religion and a free press. Under such form of rule, you may not even get to choose your standard of living; the government may choosing that for you, nor will you be able to choose as to what form of education to pursue. The government, once more, will be choosing that for you, and the stage is being set for that to one day take place.
But as for those who can’t work; having suffered a physically limiting injury, or are either too sick or too old to work, we do have a moral duty to care for them, and not just the government, but everyone for that matter according to the best of their abilities. To neglect that duty would just be unconscionable. Besides, those who are more well of may find themselves in need someday and will be glad for any help they receive. But to think that we should not concern ourselves with the poor and those truly in need, as one in this forum has suggested is just the kind of idea that would only serve to add fuel to the class warfare that is taking part in dividing our nation.
But as for those who don’t seem to be interested in becoming productive members of society (the drunks and druggies, and the ones who are just flat out being lazy and are hiding behind some lame excuses for not working when they are capable of working); they are the ones that definitely need to be dumped from the system. If there are any illegal immigrants that have taken advantage of our social services, again, those benefits need to be denied to them and they need to be deported to their place of origin. Our government cannot take care of both them and its citizens as well, nor should bad behavior be rewarded. If this was done, social security and medi-care would not have to spend as much money. Furthermore, if more jobs were created, less people would be on unemployment, and possibly less people on welfare and food stamps. Did all those who have been labeled “Takers” initially plan to be that way? No!
On the political front we need to seek out leaders who:
1. Will be committed to the lowering of tax rates and rolling back unnecessary and burdensome regulations that have been placed upon our businesses in order for more businesses to be better able to establish themselves and for existing businesses to expand,
thereby creating more jobs, and increase competition and make sensible reforms to our entitlement programs so as to keep the system from being exploited by those who are not making any effort to help themselves.
2. Will demand and push for energy independence so that we might not have to depend on foreign oil supplies and so that our gas prices will not be influenced by events outside our own borders.
3. Will crack down on judicial activism and remove those justices from power who have made rulings contrary to a strict interpretation of the Constitution. Contrary to popular belief, the Constitution does make a provision for the removal of justices under certain circumstances in section 1 of Article 3 and historically, presidents have dismissed judicial opinions they believed to be unconstitutional, justices have been removed from the bench for making unconstitutional rulings, and courts have at times been abolished. Sadly, section 1 of Article 3 has not been enforced for a very long time and we are losing our liberties as a consequence of not enforcing section 1 of Article 3.
4. Will keep our defenses strong. Cutting military spending in such a sensitive and dangerous time is not a good idea. It is in fact “irresponsible” as defense secretary Panetta had rightly put it.
5. Will cut wasteful and unproductive spending so that our deficit will go down.
6. Implement comprehensive immigration reform plans that will meet our security needs
We cannot rightfully deport every undocumented migrant. Those who are not able to take care of themselves such as the physically disabled, mentally handicapped, and elderly should not be deported. That would be cruel and heartless. Those who have been trying to assimilate into our society and be productive members of society should be given some time to obtain legal status and encouraged to become citizens.
But as for the undocumented migrants who have been guilty of fraud of any sort, whose visas have expired, or are fugitives from their own place of origin; they need to be returned to their place of origin. If any of them have come across the border to just live off of our social services, again, they need to be deported. If they have been committing criminal activity on our soil, then they need to serve out their sentences for their crimes here and afterwards, be deported to their place of origin. If any of them have been found to associated with terrorist organizations, they need to face the penalty of a terrorist.
7. We need to elect leaders who will have the unwavering courage needed to defend our Constitution and our liberties and expose our domestic enemies.
Republicans have admitted to a change in the demographics and that they need to reach out to the Hispanic community which appears to play a crucial factor in elections. But not only do we need to reach out to Hispanics, but also the black community, the poor, and the youth and if conservatives expect to have any hope of gaining substantial ground among these voter groups, they have to find out what their concerns are, address them, and explain why their policies are better than left wing policies. It must also be made clear to voters and potential voters that each vote cast has consequences and not just for the voter, but for an entire nation, and that we cannot afford to be fickle or frivolous in our reasoning. Another message that needs to get out is that not voting also has consequences as well.
But it is not enough, even if the desired goals are accomplished in the political arena, to rely on the government to solve every problem or social ill, because there are problems that cannot be solved by passing legislation, and any time legislation is passed in an attempt to solve a problem that is beyond the role and scope of government, more problems are created than solved.
The root cause of our ills and growing dilemmas does not lie within our governing powers nor in private enterprises, but runs far deeper; one that we have either dismissed or that we tried to hide from and if we continue to do either we do so at our own peril. We have become accustomed to thinking that the problems that have manifested themselves are independent of a foundation from which they spring, but this is never the case.
An honest study of history will reveal creeds and principles upon which a nation or empire is built or adopts, which provide insight to a nation’s glory and success or its decline and ruin and what unseen forces inspire the course of a society, a truth of which most are largely ignorant.
It is time now that we closely examine the various principles, ideas, and creeds that are shaping the course of our society, and educate ourselves in those founding principles upon which this nation was built, and learn about the unseen forces that have been at work from day one. Only then will we begin to see the source of our decline, which will then require us to do much spiritual and moral soul searching, and honest look at ourselves, because the changes required do not begin with our churches, education system, media, or entertainment industry, or even the government. It starts with us, the people, because it is the people who become responsible for shaping the institutions upon which we have come to depend for comfort, security, information, education, leadership, stability, and prosperity. The course of a nation generally does not begin from the top down, but most often it is at the bottom that a course is set.
We are a people that have been as it is written “tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine” (Eph. 4:14) we have followed after powers and authorities subject to change with each passing generation and therefore are becoming unstable in all of our ways.
We need to place our trust in a power and authority that is not given to change but whose laws and precepts remain unchanged by the times. Such an authority would provide lasting stability, order, and security if we would but humble ourselves and surrender to it, but that authority cannot be found in men who are subject to frailty and change. We must remember that the men and women in whom we find inspiration are but instruments and vessels of powers unseen and are far greater than anything of this material universe (both good and evil). We should follow the good examples that they do set, but at the same time learn from and avoid their mistakes.
But our confidence must be in an authority that is free from imperfection and it is in that power upon which our lives must be founded. That authority to which we must run has existed for all eternity, by whose hand comes all life, who has established those very laws of nature by which all things are govern; the evidence of whose existence can be found throughout all of creation (Rom. 1:20), but to which sadly many have been blind, but just as there are natural laws that remain unchanged, there are also spiritual and moral laws that are also unchangeable, but we in our defiance and selfishness have run after other means that have and still continue to fail us. Therefore we shouldn’t at all be surprised at the increasing disorder and perplexing dilemmas that beset us, but if there is to be any hope in retaining liberty, order, security, and prosperity, it is to this authority that we must turn and cling to. This power and authority is not confined to an image, nor is He some impersonal force that we can control.
He is not afar off and indifferent to the events of history, but rather He is very much involved in the affairs of His creation, and His Spirit is present everywhere, and there is not one thing that takes place without His involvement or consent. He is not an obscure term subject to interpretation, but has made Himself known to us in nature and in our conscience, and just as He has established laws and precepts which we would do well to apply, so He has also made known to us our rights, and just as His laws are unchangeable, so our rights are unchangeable as well, because He is an unchangeable God (Mal. 3:6, Heb. 13:8) and it is this God that even in our own Declaration of Independence, the founders of our nation confessed, to have determined for us our very liberties that we profess to hold dear, yet have taken for granted, and who has created all men equal (2 Sam. 14:14, Acts 10:34, 17:26, Gal. 3:28, Col. 3:11) and has made one law and one plan of salvation applicable to all (Ex. 23:12, Lev. 16:29, Num. 9:14, 15:16, 29, Jn. 3:16, Rom. 10:9-11)
He has also established for us our history, has told us our origins and the origins of all life, has revealed to us the source of our miseries, his laid out for us as to how we are to behave towards and treat one another, the formulas for a proper government and a secure economy, and even how to best care for the earth. He has also been very straightforward as to what our responsibilities are to Him and our fellow man are. He has not promised us freedom from tragedy, adversity, or temptation, but has promised to help us through those difficult, trying, and testing times, and to provide ways to overcome those adversities with which we are faced. He has also promised us that if we will abide in Him in both good and bad times, we will eventually be rewarded with prosperity in our own right in this life, as well as everlasting rewards in the next, but because we have either demanded or permitted His removal from public life, we have then robbed ourselves and future generations of that proper foundation upon which to build our way of living, and have alienated ourselves from the very One who is able to instill in each and everyone of us a sense of direction and purpose which goes beyond our own selfish ambitions, and who can show each and everyone of us the gifts and talents that He has given us to carry out that purpose created for His glory and the betterment of mankind.
We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of the God who created us (Rom. 3:23). But He offers us grace and mercy, if we will put turn to Him and repent of our sins, including our pride and selfishness. We are most deserving of His punishment, but it is His love for us that has caused Him to hold back His wrath and He has patiently reached out to us, and has plead with us to turn away from our rebellious ways and surrender our lives to Him.
In times of tragedy we run to Him for comfort, but then after a time, we no longer find a use for Him and push Him out of our lives, and as I write this, the Spirit within me causes me to sigh out how ungrateful we are to our Maker and how much we take for granted. We are no better than those before us in ages past in other lands who ran to God for comfort in times of trouble, but then after the trouble has passed, fall back into their self-indulgent ways and to following after those worthless and destructive things and entities that led them into trouble in the first place, and if we continue such a course, my fear is that a day will come in which we will cry out to Him, but He will neither answer nor deliver us except that there be genuine repentance from our wicked and selfish ways.
His justice demands that we be held answerable for our sins and be eternally damned, yet His mercy offers us salvation through Jesus Christ in whom both justice and mercy have been satisfied. He took the penalty for our sins so that we ourselves would not have to, and if we would only be willing to turn to Him for salvation and a way from our sins, He is willing to forgive us and grant us salvation. It is when one surrenders to Christ their Maker and Savior that not only assurance of salvation is found, but also a new sense of purpose. It is a transformation that begins from the inside out, not the outside in. When one willingly gives themselves over to Christ, both life and soul, interests and priorities begin to change, new principles are adopted and those values already in agreement with the precepts of our Lord find renewed strength and a firm foundation upon which they rest. It is that transformation that can best battle greed, covetousness, and selfishness, for those are issues that, although manifest themselves outwardly, are really matters of the heart, and it takes a change of heart to best deal with those problems.
And for those who will seek Him out and make Him both their foundational and final authority, also can rest assured that these present troubles are but temporary, and that we can look forward to a new world to come in which these present sufferings are non-existent (Rev. 2O:14-21:4).
This change wrought about us in Christ, also affects the way we make every decision including how we do business and politics, and how we choose our friends and relationships, for upon receiving Christ we take into ourselves a new nature never before experienced, but because we are at nature sinful and selfish beings, we must learn to strengthen that new nature and starve out and weaken that old nature, as the two will indeed be at odds, and though the conflict will be hard at times, maintaining that discipline of strengthening that new nature will eventually bring its rewards, yet if any think this to be burdensome, it is because either have been misguided as to what the Christian faith is, blinded by the lies of the dark forces of this world, or it is because they ultimately love darkness more than the light (Jn. 3:19), for our Maker has assured us that His ways are not burdensome, but for our good (Rom. 7:10) and a light yoke (Mt. 11:29-30) compared to the laws and rituals to which many are subjected, which He Himself did not command, but served only the interests of selfish and evil men and unseen dark forces that have a hand in inspiring them. For only in Christ our Lord, will we find true liberty and the order much needed for our lives and society. The promises made by man can and do fail, but the promises of our Maker do not, even though they may seem long in coming to pass. Men can and do fail us, even when they don’t intend or want to, but God never fails.
But it is up to each and everyone to make that choice to give ourselves wholly unto Him and we shall be rewarded accordingly. But consider this: There are many who have chosen their own path, but in the end have either experienced discontentment, needless misery, and eventual destruction, because they did not seek out their Maker nor submit themselves to Him, and so were eventually given over to the consequences of their choices. I cannot guarantee that I will be able to answer in a timely fashion responses and challenges to this post, but I will certainly be interested in reading any responses and challenges that are written.
