Call Boehner about the House conservative purge

Well, it’s happening. Speaker Boehner is taking some of his most vocal fiscal opponents out of influential budget-related committees. Via Roll Call:
Speaker John A. Boehner initiated today a small purge of rebellious Republicans — mostly conservatives — from prominent committees; it’s the latest instance of the Ohio Republican’s clamping down on his fractious conference.
The decisions were made by the GOP Steering Committee at a Monday meeting, which reviewed a spreadsheet listing each GOP lawmaker and how often he or she had voted with leadership, three sources said.
Reps. David Schweikert of Arizona and Walter Jones of North Carolina were booted from the Financial Services Committee. Reps. Justin Amash of Michigan and Tim Huelskamp of Kansas were removed from the Budget Committee.
According to a source, Schweikert was told that he was ousted in part because his “votes were not in lockstep with leadership.”
The article goes further, explaining that one conservative, Rep. Rick Mulvaney of South Carolina, was put on the Financial Services Committee. It also notes that part of the reason Rep. Schweikert was taken out off the Financial Services Committee was because of how he handled his primary against establishment-supported former Rep. Ben Quayle (R-AZ). However, other than that, the article outlines a bad situation for Tea Party-minded Republicans in the House, especially those elected in 2010.
This is not a good sign for the fiscal cliff debate, and it’s not a good sign for the 2013-2014 Congress. The purged Representatives have stood for principle on some very key votes, pulling the House Republican Caucus to become more conservative. Unfortunately, it appears the Speaker cares less about Tea Party retaliation than he does about his own power. Instead of adhering to the American people he is embracing the standard political status-quo by disciplining his colleagues who stand against him on the basis of principles.
It is time for the Tea Party to show the Speaker that this November’s election hasn’t ended the grassroots opposition to fiscal insanity. Click here to call Speaker Boehner’s Office. We encourage you to call it, and let the Speaker know exactly what you think of his newest display of political elitism.

The Tea Party put Boehner in office and it will do what it can to get him out if he caves to BHO. We know they are dancing together to chime in with the New World Banking Order to bring this country to its knees.
Do not cave to the left and let’s force them into Recession—You are going to get blame anyway when it happens.
These bastards need to stop spending and we do not want any Tax increases!
Cool…ultra-conservatives are starting to eat each other.
Yep! Just like your two moms.
Excuse my baseness, but that’s cute. Pretty funny.
Ultra-Conservatives are the “new center,” in case anyone’s been asleep for the past 8 decades.
I think it is more accurately stated that the socialist liberals are now promoted as centrists, and the centrists that promote adherence to the Constitution and fiscal sanity are promoted as radical. We have devolved to a point where radical left is considered merely far left, far left is considered centrist, moderately left (RINOs) are considered right, actual centrists are considered far right, and a conservative logic which should be right of center is considered radical right. Any society that makes decisions based on a perspective that outlandishly skewed can never survive.
Well put sir!
What are you talking about Forward? “Ultra-conservatives”? What are they?
I’m wondering which direction you’re facing when you start moving “forward”? And how you can claim that your polices are “progressive”?
Don’t you in fact want to return to having people ruled over by their government?
That’s reactionary, not progressive.
The original plan for the U.S., our original Constitution, which makes government the servant of the People- that’s truly progressive and forward looking.
Gee you liberals don’t like being on the receiving end of it do you? Does the D/U pay you to troll or are you volunteers?
The GOP establishment elite have demonstrated that they would rather have more O, than a President Palin, or any other TPM person. They know what Governor Palin did to corrupt Republicans and their capitalist cronies in AK. They must, must oppose her. Restoration of our republic is not in their best interest.
Here and there after SP declared war in Madison – ‘Mr. President. Game On!’ ‘We’re here. We’re clear. Get used to it.’ – she spoke of our enemy – the Permanent Political Class (PPC), 7/10 richest areas in US are around DC, crony capitalism, etc. – basically, we are far on the route to being one corrupt government with two parties. And much of the active power, not even in the hands of our elected servants.
Remember: ‘IT MATTERS who and what we replace O with.’ When he got a hold of executive political power, he grew the size, power, expense, and intrusion of government. He started mandated socialized healthcare, supported carbon tax, passed anti-gun laws, . . .
. . . I’m speaking about Romney. See the difference? Me neither.
He truly was a ‘slap in the face of the TPM’.
I think we need to slap back – although I’d rather clobber.
Primaries, primaries, primaries. I hope we make the GOPe have nightmares about them. The GOPe are our first opponent. In 2014 it will matter who and what we replace the Dems with. This will help doubly, for in 2016, we also want to replace O with the true anti-O. She who is the right principled, exceptional leader of our generation.
SP2016
We handed the House of Representatives to the Republicans to stop the fiscal insanity in Washington.
Boehner has been an abysmally weak Speaker. If we do not change the Speaker of the House, then there will not be any resistance to the Democrats’ plan to eliminate the Constitution and institute a totalitarian government. Their intent is obvious.
If the RINOs want to keep Boehner as Speaker, then they should have to get covered in their own blood doing it. We need to challenge them on the House floor.
Paul Ryan should be the next Speaker of the House.
Should Boehner resume as Speaker, then we should split the party. They are Republicans in name only. Let them continue playing their charade, or just go ahead and join the Democrats so they can share the majority. Turn the House back over to the Democrats and fight them from a position where everyone on this side of the fence is actually on the side of the Constitution and limited government.
It’s time to draw a line in the sand.
DBWriter…careful I don’t think conservatives are welcome here. Agreed. Boehner is a gelding.
Roger that. But, what is allowed to be shown here is being read by a lot more people that are posting here.
Thanks for speaking your mind.
MARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By every appearance. Since taking his post, the Speaker of the House has been a cohort of the Democratic party, a judas-goat, For him to use the opportunity of the loss of several constituencies to serve his true masters (the ones he goes golfing with), is in keeping with his record as a useful idiot. The stepson of a Jewish carpenter said “you shall know them by their fruits ” over 20 centuries ago. That man spoke only the truth- got him killed, as i understand. Gotta realize that those
who fashion themselves as God a
Re, by nature,
an unsavory lot.
The House of Representatives elects the Speaker of the House on the first day of every new Congress.
The 113th Congress begins its session on January 6, 2013 (tentative).
We need to be standing on the steps of the Capital Building when the vote is taken for the Speaker of the House for the 113th Congress.
Paul Ryan should be the next Speaker of the House. If we are not there to make it happen, then it won’t happen, and we’ll continue down the same insane path we’ve been on the past 4 years.
It wouldn’t surprise me if the date was changed to make it inconvenient for the American public to influence the decisions of the House of Representatives.
Will you be there?
what is this about? I thought this was about trying to restore constitutional govt. but it just seems to be a pissing contest. We are are in dangerous times and somebody needs to grow up.
I did call this morning it was early the office was close
Dustin:
In my opinion, Boehner is finally asserting his leadership and reigning in his caucus. This is a positive to end the period where the tail has been wagging the dog!
I would describe the relationship between the Tea Party and the Republican’s as a SYMBIOTIC Relationship. (by definition: a relationship between two organiisms in which one organism is benefited [ the tea party] and the other [ Republicans] is neither harmed nor helped.) It is clearly interdependent on the Republicans.
I would argue that the evidence indicates when in a constest with Democrats, it loses. The Tea Party power lies in the primary threat. In other words, if a Republican doesn’t toe the line, he/she will be challenged in primaries. The dynamic of the primary system, as it currently exists, is such that the die-hard of the party have the most influence in selecting the candidate to run in the general election. That’s where the influence of the TP is more detrimental than positive.
Yes, I know whay happened in 2010. That was an aberation. The TP was a relatively unknown commodity then; it was an off year election where the turnout is low; and the electoral dynamic was changing. Look at the special elections conducted since 2010. I could be wrong, but I believe in all but two, the Democrat won. Suffice it to say, the majority were won by Democrats. In this past election, Obama won decisively; in the Senate (which Republicans should have gained control), the Dem’s gained seats; and in the House, the Dem’s gained seats.
To me, for the Tea Party to continue to battle the Republican Party can lead to continued Democrat victories. The arguments I read here are akin to suggesting amputation at the neck to cure a headache!
I can not and do not speak for anyone else. I want fiscal responsibility, but I can’t support massive cuts that would cause more harm and pain. I want ths to be a country governed by the Constitution. To the best of my knowledge, that is exactly what we are. I know of no laws or policies that remain in place that are unconstitutional. I am against abortion, but it is the law of the land and I can’t impose my beliefs on someone else. I ambivalent toward gay rights. I am not gay and couldn’t care less what the sexual habits of my neighbors might be. The issue doesn’t affect me, therefore, it’s none of my business. I do not impose my views on religion on any other person and I won’t tollerate someone else’s attempt to impose their views on me. Keep religion in church where it belongs and out of the state house. I believe in freedom of speech ( within acceptable limitations such as inciting a riot, communicating a threat and defamation of character standards) and want to be able to express myself as I choose without the threat of the government imposing any restriction on my words. That freedom is also available to those that would preach words and principles that I adhor, Even so, either we are all free to pursue our interests or we are all harmed. As I can swing my fists as much as I want, that freedom stops just short of my neighbor’s chin. I must also allow my neighbor that same latitude unless and until he/she breaches my safe zone.
In conclusion, many in the TP see the world thru very narrow and biased glasses. Until they can conform to more moderate positions, they will continue to be of marginal influence and, eventually will lose that little power. I understand their anger and frustration. I also understand that it is counterproductive to allow that anger and frustration to control the debate. In other words, a step or two in the right direction is better than being knocked on your A$$! You can’t play the game or influence the outcome unless and until you are in the game!!!!!! Boehner, in my opinion, is attempting to keep the Republicans in the game. In my view, the TP would be better off assisting him in his effort rather than destroying the opportunity. As the Republican influence fades, so does the TP influence!!!!!
you deleted all of my comments of quoting actual tea party member words from your websites like tea party.org. only 6 out of hundreds i have seen which are hateful, racist, sexist. i see u let DB walk around with that picture of a person’s head chopped off though and other comments on this site. he said what it was earlier i saw it.
If we need to go over the fiscal cliff to prevent tax cuts then so be it! Speaker Boehner and the house need to stick it out and not cave! America’s future depends on it. Washington needs to stop wasting our hard earned money! If they can manage the money and not spend more thab they know is coming in they need to be replaced! In the words of Ronald Reagan . If not us who? If not now, when” It has to be us and it has to be now!THE BUCK MUST STOP HERE!
Speaker Boehner, please don’t capitulate to Obama by going along with his tax policies. Stick with the Republican pledge ” NO NEW TAXES”. ALLOW him to push us off the fiscal cliff, but be sure the country understands WHY you are doing that. Obama thinks that he cannot lose as he is a KING who will always get his way. He will if the House CAPITULATES now. No matter what the Republicans do, we will be blamed for anything that happens. BHO has the country brainwashed with his continual lies. Ignore the mainstream press and their constant criticism conservatives. Also, please re-instate the leaders you striped of their important committee roles. Stick to the “NO NEW TAXES” policy.
After reading these comments I wonder if anyone really does understand the conservative stand. I read today in the local paper that women have a CIVIL RIGHT to contraceptives and abortions…. where is THAT mentioned in the Constitution? The biggest problem today is the federal government is into everything. That is what needs to be changed. Sexist, racist, bigotry, antigay, hyphenated Americans…. it is ALL crap that is used to keep people at each others throats. We are AMERICANS, no matter the race, religion (or lack thereof), gender, orientation and all the rest of that blather, and we need to return to how this nation was founded. The Federal government per the Constitution, the rest to the states. THAT is what needs to be addressed, not snide comments sniping at each other that does nothing.
Not all students. Just the lazy retards that think they should get everything for free. So tell me honor student…. Fine arts or sociology major?
Suzy, document instances of TEA Party discrimination with links to articles. Otherwise stop lying.
Nursing student wow!!! How much do you weigh?
No Suzy, we want to teach children to earn their own way, so they can buy their own coal.
