A Christmas Victory

While we continue to see bad news coming out of DC due to a lack of people taking a principled stand, we want to highlight some good news about a local principled stand which resulted in a victory for Christmas!
Cowering to the threats of one resident and a national Anti-Christian group, Freedom From Religion Foundation, City Manager Hank Angelo & Mayor Dan Pocek of Bedford, Ohio ordered the Nativity Scene at the Bedford City Hall to be taken down.
Upon learning of this, Co-Founder of the Cleveland Tea Party Patriots and TPP Ohio State Co-Coordinator, Ralph King, a life-long City of Bedford resident, immediately contacted many of the council members in the effort to have the Nativity display put back up.
In these conversations with Council members, it was learned that they were not notified by City Manager Angelo or Mayor Pocek prior to the Nativity display being removed.
The council members, while agreeing the Nativity display should not have been removed and a principled stand “should” have been taken, they were resigned that since it has been taken down, and fearful of a lawsuit over Separation of Church & State and costly litigation, there was nothing they could do to reverse this decision made without their approval. In short – they were going to do nothing about it!
Though one councilman, Greg Pozar, a Tea Party supporter, agreed that a principled stand must be taken.
With the support of Councilman Greg Pozar to launch an effort to have the Nativity display put back up at Bedford City Hall, CTPP Co-Founder Ralph King contacted current and former City of Bedford residents and launched a phone call campaign to the Mayor’s home and City Hall.
Packing a council meeting with outraged residents and Channel 3 News, the residents were ready to stand strong in defending their rights and fight this uphill battle. During the council meeting, the Law Director announced that because of the calls they received, the Nativity display would immediately be put back up!
With this announcement the council chambers erupted in Holiday cheer and Christmas was saved in Bedford!
Here is the Channel 3 Report:
Ralph King is the Tea Party Patriots Co-State Coordinator in the state of Ohio.

I couldn’t care less if a nativity scene is up or not, what I hate is people who do. Stop crying about separation of church and state and go buy your damn iPad.
The Tea Party mission statement is at the top of this webpage and it is only because there are more Christians who join that we get more veiws written from a Christian perspective. To those who cant see what is happening this is a technique our political enemys use to divide us and weaken our resolve.I disagree with Gay marriage, Abortion murder, and socialism as a form of government. I like to debate these issues with anyone add any number of issues 2nd and 1st amendment.I do have friends who disagree with me on any of these issues as God teaches love the sinner hate the sin and all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God there are none perfect not one but Jesus.
If a gay wants less spending and government intrusion (as this removal was an intrusion at the request of specal people wanting to be elite and throw a wet blanket on a majoritys tradition) I will be glad to stand with the gay at a Tea Party rally with our signs opposing Obamacare, and infringements to our rights. I will point out however that other groups dont seek freedom so debate can happen freely they seek government mandates that supress opposition through subjjegation to regulation. The result of which has been MISLEADERSHIP and maleducation producing busy uninterested irresponsible voters. My best friend is an Athiest whom provides me with great challenges and spirited debate as we fish. Welcome to THE Tea Party not my Tea Party. I do mean welcome
I do not understand. Why should I purchase an iPad? I do not hate you. I amy disagree with you but certainly do not hate you. Perhaps ‘pity’ would be a more apt description.
What does religion have to do with the Tea Party? Why waste time on this BS?
Religion has no place in the Tea Party. Those with an anti abortion, anti sex, anti gay and anti masterbation agenda should join a group devoted to those topics.
If we’re not welcome here, where I thought it would be safe, then we’ll have to work AGAINST the Tea Party. Sorry, we’re for America. I thought you were too…..
Jerry, without the primus of human rights endowed by the creator, the declaration of independance, the constitution, and the tea party all stand moot. Please bear in mind that we can only recognize an inalienable right if is endowed by an indesputable authority.
Loon,
This country along with all modern countries welcome people of all faiths and no religion at all. The Tea Party made a huge mistake when they let fundamentalist Christians take over parts of the movement with abortion protests and idiots like those GOP rape guys for Senate. We lost the Senate as a result.
People don’t agree on a creator, some call it Shiva o Allah or whatever. The real Tea Party is about the size of government not the name of one’s gods.
I know it’s been a while, but I just joined and I just read your post and I have to say what an ignorant fool you are Jerry. Why the living hell are you even here, Manchurian conservative? You stated, “This country along with all modern countries welcome people of all faiths and no religion at all.” First of all, you’re dead wrong — only our country far exceeds the tolerance level towards other faiths more so than any other country in the world. Secondly, what in the living hell does that have to do with the nativity scene story here? Reading your ignorant-laced blog was about as bad as reading something from the militant far-left magazine Mother Jones.
This wasn’t just about the nativity scene. This far exceeds that. This was an attack on something because of the simple fact that it was christian in nature. Period. Christianity is heavily attacked by the far-left all the time, and this is one example, and instead of standing up against what was obviously bias — you too came on the attack. Why do I get the feeling if this was the same story but with a different faith attached to it you would’ve came soaring to their defense? It’s a double standard. And that’s common with spineless, far-left Manchurian conservatives like yourself who pose as tea party members and infiltrate our groups in order to attack us. Why don’t you take your politically correct, pansy rear-end out of here and go write for the Nation!!
Are you retarded? excuse me. “A rose is a rose by any other name”
Think about it.
Well I have to say that we as Conservatives must also move with the times. I used to be anti gay but now I see that they can be good law abiding citizens even if they don’t like what I like. That goes for all colored people and atheists. I don’t have a college degree and I dont pretend to know every rule in the bible but I say we put America first and if you have religious views that is good, but as a Veteran and Conservative and church goer and American I say that people need to be free in what they choose as long as they are adults and of sound mind. If that means a gun or gay partner so be it. Let’s start to get more inclusive..but that don’t mean big government and more taxes! God Bless..Happy New Year…
Does anyone remember “The golden rule” it was taught to me when I was young.
“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”.
Possibly so Jerry, but without a primus of order, the next little thug that bends an aluminum bat over your head and steals your sneakers stands within his rights as defined by him. An unsavory thought, so If you don’t mind, please permit me my antiquated theories of human rights, dignity, and non-violence.
I hope that the tea party focuses on general spirituality, and higher calling, but not dwell on one christian ideal or denomination. Prayers are even fine. People need to remember we are conservatives coming here from different backgrounds of faith. I am Jewish. I share many of the same principals as christians, but I do not want to join a ‘church’ if you follow me.
I applaud the actions of the citizens of this town in Ohio. Our country would be a better place if the silent majority of any community would start taking the time and the trouble to make a stand on issues that are an affront to the general sensitivity of the public at large. The religious display on the lawn of the fire house WAS IN NO WAY an infringement of ANYONES civil rights, it is however a long standing tradition peculiar to the city of Bedford.
I will however draw a line when it comes to the so-called “War on Christmas”! ! ! This year the Christmas season started 2 weeks before Halloween and is still going strong for the first week of the New Year, (grandkids go back to school on January 8 this year). I guess Christmas has eaten Thanksgiving,,, so if I was you Valentine’s Day, I would sleep with one eye open.
You are all a bunch of psychotic lunatics who are traitors to the US government and should be rounded up and put in a camp. I have never seen a group (except the GOP) made up of the most ignorant and just plain stupid end of the spectrum. You are all an embarrassment to any REAL American and you totally disgust me.
Wha…Wha…What are you ranting about?
Are there any videos on the Internet of tea baggers getting beaten to a pulp by angry mobs that are sick of these anti-Anerican nut jobs?
If you are going to accuse people of being Anti-American, then I suggest you learn how to spell American.
Although I agree that independence and the ability to reform for the betterment of mankind is the understanding that we are endowed by our creator. I certainly will not call names to those of different faiths and those of none faiths. I have traveled a lot around the World many years ago spoke with many people from different cultures and faiths, the one thing we all agreed on was that we are human, and that tyranny holds many different faces yet fights with the same reasoning.
This is important to understand that we may disagree on how we have arrived to this day, where we came from, how we came to being, and where we end up when we die. These arguments are better left for debates on individual journeys. Even disagreeing we must agree to protect each others individuality, and our right to believe.
There is an attack on traditions and these attacks should not be allowed to happen with out good debate not simply calling names and shutting down intellectual conversation. I would not walk into another country and demand they change a tradition based on my personal beliefs. Yet this is allowable here in this country as an ultra PC state. Reject this together and move towards the building of a legitimate governing body not the nonsense we have today.
No mention about illegal immigration on the “teapartypatriots” website. Freedomworks also fails to mention illegal immigration. Americans have died to protect that border. Amnesty will essentially dissolve our nation’s sovereignty. No Patriot supports amnesty for law breakers who spit on our flag. There are better alternatives. Beware of false tea party movements.
I am totally against open borders, But as hurtful as it is to me Americans have the right to spit on any flag.
What is the difference between someone that believes in secular values verses religious values? I submit that they are the same level and both deserve equal respect.
If the Nativity scene was so foolish and unpopular then why was it necessary to threaten lawsuits and not make a request to the city council and/or the people to remove it? The most important issue here is not that the Nativity scene was to be taken down, but how it was being forced upon the city. The government has no more right to impose secular values on society than it does religious values.
What has happened to our Democracy and our Republic come to if a minority of citizens can impose its will on the majority through undemocratic intimidation?
God Bless you and God help our country.
Sincerely,
Rob M.
