12 Days of Solutions: Day 2 – Cut Taxes
December 11, 2012 at 2:34 pm in News by Tea Party Patriots 78 Comments

Yesterday, Tea Party Patriots launched 12 Days of Solutions, designed to provide Tea Party Patriots with the weapons to challenge the status quo in Washington. That status quo says cutting spending is unnecessary, but it is necessary to take more of your tax dollars for an inept bureaucracy to spend.
Over these 12 days, we will mix in both policy ideas and specific policy plans. Yesterday, we talked about the Penny Plan. Today, we’d like you to call your Member of Congress and urge him or her to support lower taxes across the board.
Why is this important? As Democratic President John F. Kennedy showed in the 1960s and Republican President Ronald Reagan again showed during their respective presidencies, lowering tax rates is good for the American people and the federal budget. The people are able to earn and save more, and the federal budget deficit is smaller due to the economic strength that comes from lower tax rates. These tax policies were major reasons why the economy was stronger after tax cuts were in place than those years immediately before the tax cuts.
Unfortunately, Washington appears to have a poor memory for the facts. With Obamacare about to institute more taxes in 2013 and 2014, and tax rates about to go up as a result of various Bush-era, stimulus, AMT and payroll tax changes, the American people face a great deal of harm from the federal tax code. Rather than continue to take our money for inept bureaucratic spending, however, we urge Congress to actually look at plans that would aim to cut spending – such as the Penny Plan this blog highlighted yesterday – and lower taxes.
When it comes down to it, the federal government has a spending problem, not a tax revenue problem. If spending was within constitutional limits, well over 40% of the federal government would not exist, and we’d have a balanced budget and strong economic growth. Which is why this is a perfect time to focus on helping the American people through tax cuts, not focus on taking more money from the American people.

2nd Tea Party Wave
We need a new wave of action in the streets to recover from the election. Get people motivated. Protest ObamaCare.
Idea: Designate May 1 as Job Creators Day to honor those who make our economy possible. There could be parades. We could give awards to large companies
What do you think?
A lot of responses here, but only two about cutting taxes.
The reality is, money left in the hands of those who earn it remains productive and creates more wealth. it’s not perfect. People make bad decisions, but…
The alternative is worse. Money taken from the people who earn it by government is often misdirected into non-productive uses. It is ALWAYS used inefficiently. There are no incentives for government programs to be run efficiently, and there are no penalties when government programs fail. The net result is a loss of productivity and a decrease in wealth production.
A wealthy society is a society that can afford good health care, good nutrition, good housing, recreation and can also afford to spend money to protect the environment. Wealthy societies also care for their members who are unable to care for themselves.
Free markets produce healthy, wealthy and moral societies.
Government run societies produce poverty, misery and death.
The less money taken by government, the better.
Since the Tea Party supports Constitutional government, we should support Constitutional taxation- Direct taxes must be apportioned, Indirect taxes must be uniform.
These limitations were not altered or removed by the 16th Amendment, and we must insist that they be followed.
Allowing our government to operate outside the Constitution is to allow tyranny.
Have the House pass a bill and DARE the Senate not to pass it.
1) Make the current tax rate on the 2% permanent
2) Lower the tax rate on all other by one half of one percent and make it permanent
3) Eliminate all funding for every LOAN, LOAN GUARANTEE and GRANT except for those to Vets and use the savings to pay for the ½ percent tax cut. There is no other tax cut so no additional funding is necessary. One SOLENDRA default per year would probably pay for the ½ percent.
If attacked for cutting funding for research attack back with SHRIMP ON TREADMILLS
If attacked on Sesame Street attach back on BILL MAR and all the funding Mattel gives SS Corp.
When attacked attack back on a similar but different front, don’t respond directly.
What about a National Prayer Day? We can pray ALL out problems away! Michelle Bachmann says a lot of our problems exist because of a lack of prayer.
Remember what St Agostine said: Pray as if all depends on God, but work as is all depends on you.
I think you are on track. Hippies of yore demonstrated to get their way, and it WORKED!
We also need to meet in Michigan to support the right to work laws! These Labor Unions are killing the jobs. They don’t have unions in China.
We could combine it in 1 day: Pray, Praise Large Company Job Cretors and protest union bosses. It’s horrible that they allow the police to have unions. I don’t want my tax dollars paying union dues
Labor unions are a expensive luxury that benefits more labor union management than the laborers. They are the reason(s) that the railroads are expensive to use, and not as competitive as trucking.
Robert,
Actaully the Teamsters are really big in trucking.
FEMA Camps
Is anyone concerned about the camps Obama is building to reeducate the population after Obama declares a Socialist republic?
See http://www.freedomfiles.org/war/fema.htm
for more info.
They’ve been building FEMA camps since the Bush Administration.
What about Gov Rick Snyder for Speaker of the House to replace Boehner? We need someone willing to fight for our rights. Gov Snyder isn’t afraid of all the Unions in Michigan! He is ready to fight them all even if it costs him the next election. Boehner and Paul Ryan aren’t willing to fight to the end. It’s all about getting re-elected at the end.
Give us a fighter.
We need to get behind someone to replace Boehner. It’s a no-brainer if Boehner isn’t replace, all is lost.
The crux of Paul Ryan’s stance is the budget he developed. Does that budget agree with TEA Party principles?
Also, we have to draw a line in the sand where we won’t cross, adn we have to make that very, very clear to the Democrats and RINOs. The Constitution is not negotiable. Period. End of statement. Something that we may have to live with is not cutting the government in half in one swipe. Or, should we force the issue of the expenditure for the coming year to equal and not exceed revenue? If the government reaches its spending limit, the government shuts down.
A government shut down scares the Washington insiders more than anything in the world.
I think it’s time we actually got serious with the Democrats and RINOs and shut the government down. Perhaps then they’d come to the table with something besides more of the usual insanity we’ve seen repeatedly from them.
We need a new Speaker.
Who should it be?
I still think Paul Ryan is an optimum choice.
And, there isn’t any politician that does anything they think will end their political career.
Let’s all move to ALASKA, because when BO magically shows us the REST of his colors, we’d at least be closer to freedom in `BELARUS! We could kayak across to mother RUSSIA,to utter privacy and never be bothered by any counterfeit dictator. (We at least know where we stand THERE!)
How about Palin? She has star power and the alility to kick butt
Sarah is damaged goods. We are still in the position where we have to swing some of the popular support in our direction. That is a critical consideration. Her support is fixed and unchangeable.
Ultimately, there will be a critical number of Reps that we will have to threaten politically. The next Speaker will be critical in doing that. Sarah just won’t be able to pull that off.
Paul Ryan will be able to do that.
Too pretty, who pays attention to her intelligence?
She is intelligent. Her biggest problem is she doesn’t have an entire media industry creating a fraudulent image of her solely for a propaganda display to the general public. But, they were successful in creating a false image that has become a substitute for fact with a sufficient percentage of the population to prevent effectiveness. This is a well-known tactic among propagandists, and it is attempted on everyone who is in opposition to the Marxist communists attempting to gain control of the country here.
This must be taken into consideration, too.
Paul Ryan is damaged goods. Not only did he not gain anything for Romney as Romney’s running mate, but his votes for TARP, Stimulus, the Patriot Act and NDAA identify him as a “Progressive” dressed in Tea Party rhetoric.
I like Sarah Palin too because she appeals to all the single mothers. She is also a strong Christian woman. I’m on the fence with Paul Ryan. At the end when push comes to shove, I just think he may falter to save his own butt. Look at how many times he voted to increase spending and raising the debt ceiling. Just my own personal thoughts…. Hopefully I’m wrong if he does become Speaker.
We should at least consider Sarah Palin in 2016 to defeat Hillary Clinton.
I love the idea. But, I think she is just too damaged. The so-called “mainstream” media was very effective at applying a permenant paint job on her.
How about Donald Trump? What is the likelihood of being successful at installing The Donald as Speaker?
If that has any likelihood of success, then let’s do it. We need a staunch (probably understated considering the level of Marxist communism Obama brought with him) capitalist. I can’t think of a stauncher capitalist than The Donald.
What do you think?
Something else is occurring to me. I kind of fish for trolls here, like blue. He jumps all over the ideas he’s programmed to attack. He hasn’t attacked one single post promoting Paul Ryan as Speaker.
Donald Trump. That’s a good person to have as Speaker. I wonder if it is practical to push it. What is the probability of success? A loss means Boehner remains Speaker, and we lose the Constitution and everything.
DB, No way! The Donald only represents the Republican country club establishment. I bet he doesn’t even hunt or even go to church.
ANYONE, would be a better speaker. (If he could only comb his hair.)
Hellfire,
Trump is damaged goods. He’s made a fool of himself too many times to be taken seriously. The Speaker of the House is in line to become President. Trump blew it with all the birther stuff and his offer of $5,000,000 for Obamas grade school records
You’re right. Trump is no good. We need a strong Christian person. Ideally, a women to eventually go up against Hillary in 2016.
Hillary will get the vote-just-because-it’s-a-woman vote. You won’t take any significant vote away from that just because you, too, are running a woman.
The core has to be substance.
If you’re goiong to criticize, you could at least be accurate. You seem to be enhancing criticism by giving misleading information. If you know the actual information, but intentionally give false information, then it could be accurately said you are lying.
Just so there will be nobody who will assume you are lying in the future, you need to know the facts. Trump offered 5 million dollars for Obama to release his records from Occidental College, Columbia University and Harvard.
And, I suppose you are equally unable to answer the questions about the indications of fraud in the document on the White House website. I’d settle for an answer as to how half a signature is authentic, and the other half is obviously generated by a computer, just for one of many indications.
There is a party line to blindly accept something as a replacement for the real thing. If I don’t know anything else, I wonder why they just don’t show the real thing… unless they don’t really have it.
If you want a fighter, Donald Trump is it. And, that would be the Democrats’ worst nightmare.
(I’m having problems with the censors here. Please excuse that I have to break up the response to determine what is the offending word.)

Donald Trump is a capitalist. That is the best type of person to go up against Marxist communists, and those who are compliant to them, like our RINOs.
I hold to Christian morals and ethics. I seldom go to church.
I don’t hunt… anymore. I grew up in the woods hunting and fishing. To tell the truth, I haven’t been a hunter since I got out of the Marines. That doesn’t mean I don’t have a strong belief in the Second Amendment.
Donald Trump would be the worst nightmare for any Marxist communist, and that’s who we’re up against.
Does Trump believe in limited Constitutional government and free markets?
Personally I think he’s a power hungry egotist who would be extremely happy to make tons of money through crony capitalism.
Crony capitalism is a probability with any human put into a position of power. We know it is dominant as things are currently. If we don’t change, then there is absolutely no possibility of changing that.
Of course, any person will influence the flow of money in a particular direction. That’s exactly why wwe put them into those positions. As it is today, the direction of the money is into black holes dominated by bankruptcies after all the money has been stolen and stuffed into crony pockets. I do believe that when Donald Trump moves money in a certain direction, he demands results. That’s something we are sorely lacking in our government today. Reagan was faced with the exact same situation, and you see the difference he made. When he moved money in a certain direction, the result was all the technology that allowed the dot-com boom to happen was developed.
The clowns running our government can’t even come close to those results.
If we don’t change, then we will continue to waste every nickel the government borrows and we will end up with an unpayable debt and nothing developed to help pay that debt.
As for getting results from investment, it would be difficult to beat Donald Trump’s record.
You’re right Palin is known but has said some real batshit stuff
The first place to cut spending is with the military. It is top heavy in corrupt generals and their call girls. For exaqmple General West got demoted for spending $28,000 on his girlfreind from governemnt funds. Do we need 11 aircraft carriers?
Jerry, I respect most of what you write, but I strongly disagree about cutting any military spending. We need a strong military to insure our safety from attack. The only reason the Mexican drug cartels don’t come into the United States is because they know our military will destroy them! Remember our strong military is responsible for most of the innovation we reap today. From the internet (DARPA Net), GPS, Microprocessor, Nuclear Power, Cellphones, etc….
We also just retired the USS Enterprise after 50 years of service! God Bless her…
Jerry we are the only country with the capability to have 4.5 acres of sovereign American soil anywhere in the ocean. Yes, the French have the Charles de Gaulle, but they are too cheap to deploy her. We don’t want to become like France.
To keep us “safe from attack”, we need 11 aircraft carrier task forces to supplement our land based aircraft and our attack submarines, and our cruise missiles launched from virtually any platform…?
What sort of attack do you envision Mr. Fire, that would require five aircraft carrier task forces on each of our coasts to repel?
Oh, that’s right, they aren’t actually on our coasts protecting us from attack, they’re anywhere and everywhere else around the world, engaged in humanitarian missions and “protecting” other countries, or at least the corrupt governments of other countries.
Craig, you probably never served in the military. But the American Military Industrial Complex cannot be stopped. President Eisenhower warned the American people back in the 50′s during the Red Scare but no one listened to him. Now the Complex is too powerful and entrenched to be stopped. We need to be a better informed citizenry. You should read the Project for the New American Century about American World Dominance.
Hellfire, We spend more on the military than China, Russia and the next 13 countries combined. Much of this spending is just job creating political pork, just like NASA. Take my favorite example why do we have Marines and the Army? They are both soldiers that fight on land. What do we need with both of them? Merge them. We don’t needs the Marines. You could get rid of hundreds of generals, bases and such and save a ton of money.
We need to save money everywhere we can. We need a lean clean fighting machine not what we have now.
The Marines are an amphibious fighting force and are trained differently than the Army. They also use different tactics. The Marines also make due with lesser equipment. If anything we should downsize the Army and keep the Marines.
With the economy suffering with Obama as President. We need the military to employ good Americans willing to serve their country. Any savings from military cuts will just go to fund more welfare and free giveaways to Obama supports.
Hellfire,
OK merge the Army into the Marines. However most countries do not have Marines, just an Army, Regardless of what you call it there should be just one group for land based fighters. The Army trains troops for all kinds of fighting: mountain, desert, jungle. I’m sure they could train them to use a landing craft.
The money saved could REDUCE taxes
You are absolutely right on your idea of not cutting military spending. Where did this HUGE debt materialize from anyhow? It came from our government leaders. Why not cut ALL federal employees salaries,(Including the prez) by 30%, in fact, why not all CIVIL SERVANTS, beginning with city, county, state, and federal? How much do you think that this would help our endeavor? Of course it would only help our tax status if the 30% of our civil servant’s cuts (city, county, state), were targeted to our property, and sales.
We could get rid of most governemnt employees and replace them with private companies. You can get a private security guard for almost nothing….who needs police?
Jerry, I support for profit Police and Fire departments. We have for profit healthcare why not Police and Fire? If you need to call the Police or Fire Dept, you should get billed for it. My neighbor called the Police the other day because a black person came to her door. Turned out it was the AT&T guy. She wasted everyone’s time and should get billed for it.
How about this:
A person retiring from a civillian government position cannot draw their retirement benefits until they reach the age specified in Social Security requirements for retirement. They can secure their benefits, but can’t draw on them until they are retired from the national workforce.
That will save billions. And, the economy will benefit by acquiring experienced management in the private sector.
Jerry, there are two different missions. The Marines are a force-projection unit. They are not an occupation-type force. Many people become confused when the Marines are used in roles they shouldn’t be used in.
The Day 2 Solution is devoid of any specifics, thus useless. The Income Tax is the root of big government cronyism. We need to address specific tax reform proposals that are flat, simple and non manipulatable. The solution shown makes us look like demagogues without a real solution.
Trevor, Excellent point. What do you favor: flat tax, VAT, cut rates and deductions? We do need to protect the job creators and get the poor and homeless to pay taxes.
The difficult to swallow truth is, our government has acted so insanely, a tax increase is necessary. Also, the number of people paying taxes has to be increased.
We need a flat tax where EVERYONE pays for the government EVERYONE elects. No free rides.
Let’s see how everyone votes when everyone has to actually pay for the government they vote for.
Or, we could reduce spending to the level it was 10 years ago, and use the surplus we would have then to start reducing the debt.
Let’s start by getting rid of the Medicare Prescription Drug benefit. Was that really necessary? Were our retirees dying in the streets because they couldn’t afford prescriptions? (Just as an aside, did you know that 25% of the people currently admitted to our hospitals are admitted because they have been made seriously ill by over-prescription and/or mis-prescription of drugs?)
I agree 100 percent. There was nothing wrong with the size of government 15 or 20 years ago. If Congress can’t grow up and generate a budget that gives our government at least a chance to not collapse, then just pull the budget from 15 years ago out of the drawer and use that.
We need someone as Speaker that can make Congress grow up.
What other possible candidates are out there?
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder?
Did anyone watch Newt Gingrich on Meet the Press this week? Here is a quote from Newt on Hillary Clinton running in 2016.
“The Republican Party is incapable of competing at that level. First of all, she’s very formidable as a person. She’s a very competent person. She’s married to the most popular Democrat in the country; they both think it would be good for her to be president. It makes it impossible to stop her for the nomination.”
I really respect Newt’s political intelligence, and believe his statement is for the Tea Party to mobilize and gain momentum now. We should be preparing for the Presidency to insure America’s future greatness.
The only… ONLY thing I like about Hillary is she killed bin Laden while Obama didn’t even have a clue the operation was happening. Inside information said Obama went straight from the golf course to Vallerie Jarrett’s office and went into a panic when Vallerie Jarrett summoned him after it was leaked to her the operation was happening…. about 40 minutes before the SEALs landed at bin Laden’s compound. That’s the 40 minutes Obama talks about.
But, I certainly don’t want to see her as president. She’s just another communist.
Hellfire,
Keep in mind that Newt has really been off of late. He predicted Mitt would win by a landslide.
Who do you see for 2016? Ryan is out. Christie is a trator. Bush could never get elected after the mess George W gave us. We need a real leader. Who is there?
That’s true, but all Republicans thought Romney would win in a landslide. I still don’t believe the polls, and think the election was rigged by the Liberals. But no use crying about spilled milk.
I like Michelle Bachmann, Sarah Palin, Allen West, Marco Rubio, but we need someone Christian. Romney was a Mormon and believed in the White Horse Prophecy and Planet Kolob. Real Christians don’t believe in that stuff.
Hellfire,
On the polls
The GOP really blew it because they had REALLY bad people doing their polling. Remember the unskewed polls guy? Mitt had similar twits doing his internal polling.
He used only one model to analyze the raw poll numbers. Obama used three and brought in independent modelers from MIT and some think tanks. Silver, Wong and a half dozen others saw it comming two weeks before the election. Mitt never had a clue.
Yup, I know it. I studied Calculus and Statistics in college. Nate Silver called it for Obama way before. But I was using the same math as Karl Rove to make myself feel better. I still think Acorn rigged the elections. If you think about it, Obama was buying votes since 2008. That’s why we need to mobilize now for the 2016 election.
Without Chris Christi sabotaging the eledtion, that 5 point swing observed in all the polls would not have happened. Romney would have won the election.
The fault lies somewhere else. Chris Christi.
Romney was born into the Mormon religion. That’s all that is known. I don’t recall Romney ever explaining his beliefs. He’s probably no different than you or me. We were born into a belief that there are many things we don’t automatically accept.
Perhaps Romney should have made a wiser choice when he chose what family he was going to be born into?
As for qualifications to be president, he’s undoubtably a capitalist. That’s better than the Marxist communists running the government today.
DB – The Mormons believe they are the chosen people… Look up the White Horse Prophecy and Planet Kolob on the internet. You will be like WTF?!?
I was born into, and raised in a strict Catholic family. That doesn’t mean I automatically accept all of their doctrine and stated beliefs. I think the same is true for any rationally thinking person, like you and me, and Romney.
I don’t think Romney fits into a religious category. He may have personal beliefs and convictions, but I am inclined to think he thinks turning a profit is most important. He is first and foremost a capitalist.
I like that.
DB,
I hate to point this out but as Secretary of State Hillary has no ability to conduct military operations. It had to be Obama or a senior general who killed Osama
It was a CIA operation. The CIA is part of the State Department. The norm is for the CIA to “borrow” military assets for their military assaults. The CIA does not have military assault capability in-house.
That’s why you saw Hillary in the most prominent chair in the command center in the photo Obama was photoshopped into.

The State Department “borrows” assets from the Department of Defense for it’s military-type assault missions.
The Secretary of State is the top department commander. The CIA chief is the top mission commander. The overall commander is the president, who had to be photoshopped into the photo.

President Obama wants to raise the debt ceiling and wants to increase spending. He knows he is going to have to blink first. He knows he is going to have to make huge cuts in government spending. If President Obama want a real compromise, he is going to have to accept a smaller package. If he does not want the tax cuts to expire on the middle class, he is going to have to accept bigger spending cuts. He is going to have to eliminate the farm subsidy program all together and kill the food stamp program all together. There are going to have to be huger cuts in Social Security and Medicare.

Even I a lowly taxpayer knows cutting taxes always benefits we the people. Increasing taxes only benefits the government and their dependents. I truly believe the 16th Ammendment to the Constitution should be repealed. They can have a Governors conference every year to approve/dissappove and funds Federal requirements. (Let me be a President for just 6 months!!!)
The insanity of our government has created a looming catastrophe that gets closer with every dime we borrow. The truth is, we the people have to bail the government out. The clowns running our government caused the situation where tax revenue has to increase, and the condition where we can grow our way out of this problem doesn’t exist like it did when Reagan took office.
It’s a reality that we the people have to pay for this buffoonery like any parent has to pay for the stupidity of some spoiled child.
The only solution I can think of is for EVERYONE to pay. A flat tax imposed on EVERYONE.
Let’s see how everyone votes when they have to actually pay for the government they vote for.
This will have an immediate negative effect. But, the benefit will be people will be much more careful about who they vote for because there will be a direct cost to them in accordance with the way they vote.
That’s the only thing that will save us. People have to elect better leaders. And, I can guarantee you they won’t be voting for a bunch of frauds flying a Marxist flag.
Someone needs to ask Obama straight out: “How will America function without a private sector?” Make him accountable to answer this question. Why hasn’t it been asked yet? He will destroy the livelihoods of many good people if we just let him keep doing what he does with no explanation, transparency, or beneficial goals/objectives. He is always going behind closed doors and ramming things through. This is rude, devious, unethical and unprofessional. Why can’t anyone teach him manners and respect for his colleagues and the American people. Why can’t we bring up the fact that he is tremendously rude and disrespectful in his business dealings? A good leader loves to communicate, work, and teach. Love is not rude! Arrogance is rude. Who is the bully?
