Rep. Louie Gohmert talks budgeting and Washington group-think with Tea Party Patriots and Members-elect

Last Friday, at the Tea Party Patriots’ second Freshman Orientation for Members-elect in Washington, attendees were honored by the presence of Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX). Rep. Gohmert, who has pushed for balanced budgets since he entered Congress in 2005, spoke about the dangers of Washington group think to America. According to Rep. Gohmert, he saw this group think within his first weeks in Congress, when a member of the House leadership told Rep. Gohmert that the misleading budget system in Congress was “the law,” forgetting that Congress can change the law.
Rep. Gohmert spent much of his time speaking about this form of budgeting, known as “baseline budgeting.” Baseline budgeting basically assumes that budgets always grow, which allows the media and proponents of unaffordable government spending to say cuts to the baseline, or growth in spending, are cuts to the budget. As Rep. Gohmert explained, this is not the case, and he is the sponsor of legislation that passed the House which would make zero-based budgeting – the budgeting used by families across America – the law of the land in Congress. Unfortunately, that legislation is being held up in the Senate.
Please take the time to see Rep. Gohmert’s comments in full here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozk1nBUuMtw&feature=youtu.be, or at the embedded video below.

We need more reps that think like Gohmert. This is the message that the Tea Party needs to follow up on, anything that we can do to slow the baseline budget is a win. But
hear that 4 million voters didn’t vote for the GOP so as to send a message is insane.
We needed to vote Obama out first then work on the GOP. Romney was the best hope
we had for gaining traction on the right. So the reason we lost maybe right underneath
our noses plus alot of fraudulent voting. Keep the fight going, the dems will continue to
hang themselves with there own rope. At the same time in 2 years we need to vote out all the rhino’s we can. We need more congressmen like DeMint, Rand Paul on the Senate side. Jordan and Bachmann on the rep side. Jim in Montrose, Colorado. Happy Thanksgiving
Anybody know how many attended?
Sorry, I found it a couple of posts down- 10 new members and three (?) existing….
Doesn’t look promising.
I agree Craig 100%. I believe people (sheeple) have forgotten that the people we send to the Congress and Senate work for us “WE THE PEOPLE” NOT THE OTHER WAY! We have let the Gov get Bigger and take controll of our lives and our country for years Now it is time wo do something about it and it is going to be hard as the ones in office continue to disregard the Constitoun and the laws that have worked for over 100 yrs. Our Pres uses the privlage of Exative Order to pass any thing he wants. Our young people have become do to the teaching in school to think the country owes them every thing for free They don’t understand that someone has to pay for it and one day they are going to wake up and all their FREE STUFF will be gone! What will they do then scares the H*** out of me just thinking about it
Extreme, is a point of view, depending on where you stand on an issue or issues.
“The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits.” – Thomas Jefferson
These are the principles America was founded on.
“To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.”
– Thomas Jefferson
Being “Progressive”, “Liberal”, “Communist”, “Socialist”, is the extreme viewpoint. The values of conservatives and the principles that our great country was found on need to be articulated and promoted as the norm, and the radical extreme views of the “left” exposed for the decedent greed for power and money that tares at the heart of this noble Nation and its people.
I do believe I would put “blue” on the ignore list.
Let’s see if I understand what you said-
Expecting our government to follow the Supreme Law of the United States, our Constitution, is “extreme”.
Expecting our government to live within our national means and stop borrowing more than a trillion dollars a year that we don’t have is “extreme”.
Expecting our government to protect our Right to freely buy, sell, trade, manufacture, grow and work- our individual right to create and participate in a free market for goods and ideas- is “extreme”.
Clearly, tyranny is NOT good “in moderation”.
Clearly, government central planning of economic life is NOT good “in moderation”.
Clearly, nothing about the “progressive” theory of government is good, not even “in moderation”.
Compromising with “progressives” is exactly like compromising with terrorists.
Then go join the Democrats. It’s the establishment GOP that has got to go.
You have a warped idea of the mainstream. You are watching too much CNN.
So, your point is, humans have evolved into a higher being in the 200 years or so since the Constitution was written….
The Constitution is about human interaction and government, idiot. It isn’t about technology.
Humans are the same today as they were then… but probably those in government are a hell of a lot less educated today.
The Constitution introduced to the world a revolutionary concept – limited government. We invented limited government here in the United States.
And you want to return to the norm of the world with totalitarian government run by dictatorial oligarchies….
If that is what you want, you can choose from so many countries in the world to live in.
Here, we like limited government.
Americans haven’t been anyone’s subjects in two hundred and thirty two years.
You’ll have to fight awar against the American people to change that.
Do you think that’s why Obama is stockpiling enough ammunition in the FBI, BATF and DHS for two countries to fight a full-scale war for 10 years? Just what does Obama plan to do with that 750 MILLION ROUNDS OF AMMUNITION procured for use against the American people?
The “hatred” you reference doesn’t exist. You invent it, no differently than the Democrats invent the class and racial “hatred” they use to defend any Democrat Marxist proposal they put forward.
The “anger” is real. We are angry about the RINOs selling Americans and their freedom and liberty down the road for the mere pittance of some temporary funding that could disappear the very next year. An example of this is the RINOs voting for a defense appropriations for one year and conceding to the Democrats the very obviously unconstitutional authority given to the president to identify any American citizen at his whim and order the standing Armed Forces of the United States to invade their privacy/home/whatever and seize them, and detain them without charges until it is the whim of the president to release them. When the RINOs should be forcing the Democrats toward fiscal sanity, they contribute to the problem by accepting some token temporary funding at the expense of an increased debt, which is the single most significant threat to our existence today.
There is only false hope if the intent is to increase the debt to pay for some free entitlement that hasen’t been earned by the recipient.
The only hope for our continued existence comes from Americans becoming a self-reliant culture again. Otherwise, there is not a chance in hell this country will survive.
Let’s talk about open-mindedness….
A closed mind refuses to accept factual history.
“Capitalism”
Speak the word.
What connotation does it have with you?
Negative. Evil.
“Marxism”
Speak the word.
What connotation does it have with you?
Legitimate. Enlightened.
Now, the facts of history:
Capitalism lifted the world out of the stone age that existed for the vast majority of the world’s population a century ago when if you had change in your pocket you were among the top 10 percent of the wealthiest people in the world.
Marxism killed more people than all the wars of the previous century around the world combined. In every case where Marxism was allowed to infect the government, the population was impoverished and enslaved, and mass murder was used to condition the population to accept the unnatural human existence of Marxism.
Why does Marxist communism always fail?
Because Marxist principles are diametrically opposed to the genetically programmed human instinct to stratify its societies.
And, somehow, after all this is obvious in any cursory study of actual history, we elected a Marxist as president.
The reason that happened isn’t because Americans are Marxist. Americans have been dumbed down to the point where they can’t even define Marxism. The vast majority of Americans wouldn’t recognize a Marxist if one was brainwashing them with a bullhorn in their face.
Want to talk about going farther than the socialist principle of increased taxation on the earnings to the marxist principle of taxing the combined assets of an individual?
This is Marxism in spades. And, it’s here in our administration today and driving the train.
