Tea Party Patriots welcomes the selection of Paul Ryan as the Vice-Presidential running mate for Governor Mitt Romney. With this selection, Governor Romney and the Republican Party make it clear that they have accepted the Tea Party Patriots values of fiscal responsibility, limited government and free markets as the best course of action for economic recovery and restoring personal freedom and individual responsibility to our national values.

Paul Ryan is an excellent choice for VP. He definitely speaks for me.

I love the Paul Ryan pick. I’ve been posting tidbits on my facebook page fequently to work at those undecided’s and independents to change things 1 vote at a time. I ask questions and get people thinking so they’ll vote smartly instead of ignorantly like they did last time.
Sandy, I hear what you are saying and amen to that, but as an American who happens to be black; when is the Tea Party, the Republican Party, and conservatives in general going to be inclusive? When can I and others like me feel a part of the conversation without folks seeing my skin first? We aren’t a Judeo-Christian nation, we were just founded by Christians and the majority of the religious populous is Judeo-Christian. The point of the Constitution is to make a safe and open nation for all religions, not just Judeo-Christians.
No government institution should deny religious practices (praying in schools, muslim foot washing) unless it disrupts normal operations. They also shouldn’t be doing stuff just to make the Christians happy.

This is actually a reply to William who claims that the TEA Party and Republican Party have to be more “inclusive” because, as a Black American, he seems to feel he is not “allowed” to participate.
I would suggest to William that it is neither the TEA Party nor the Republican Party that is not “inclusive,” but rather his own mentality and philosophy which may be restricting him.
As a woman born in the West Indies (meaning I am not “white,”) I am also a very proud member of the Conservative, TEA, and Republican parties. Never for an instant did I ever feel there was no “inclusion” for the simple reason that nothing was stopping me from sharing their beliefs.
That is what “inclusion” is — sharing similar beliefs, philosophies, ideals — nothing having to do with skin color.
That’s where the liberals have had it wrong for so long. “Inclusion” has never had anything to do with collectives of “right-thinking” followers.
For Conservatives, “Inclusion” has always meant: everyone has the right to think as he or she wishes, express themselves as he or she wishes, and to gather with each other while at the same time knowing that we each have the self-responsibility to stay true to our own individual and personal beliefs on any given subject — yet still be in overall agreement, despite the disagreements!

It’s not skin color, color of skin has nothing to do with it. It is not difficult for me as an educated black man to simply use good reason and seek truth instead of loyalty to a particular cause. Our founding fathers of this nation never intended and even placed guards against our government living so far out of its means. Red, yellow, black or white the size of government must be reduced, including the tax burden on the working class and parents and our children, no matter what their income level is. Nay, Jay…not all members of the Tea Party profess to believe in God (I do but my husband and a few others I know do not). To repeat what someone said in this blog, our Tea Party is inclusive of all … just like the God I pray to loves all. I love all too, but I don’t love the actions of many — including myself at times.
The real problem is that your idea of God and mine are not necessarly one in the same. This country was constitutionally founded on the idea that we remain secular and include all beliefs and religions. That’s waht has made America great not YOUR god.

Ryan as VP will draw no new votes. Would he do a good job? Yes. But anyone suppotive of Ryan’s positions would have no doubt voted for Romney anyway. The ONLY choice that would have given Romeny a shot would have been Rubio. When will the Republicans learn that change is not possible while Obama is still in office…as he will be.
I disagree. As a foreign-born, naturalized American (I speak French *and* Spanish, so guess where I was born!) picking Marco (who is impressive) would have been pandering to the so-called “latino” vote.
It would seem to me, being as only Americans — native born or naturalized — are permitted to vote, it would not matter what “latinos” or any other non-Americans would think about a nominee.

The Tarp plan was a dismal failure, and we taxpayers paid for it. He jumped on the gloom and doom bandwagon to avoid bankruptcy for bad performing companies. He quoted the “mistakes” of the depression which was caused by government interference, and so Ryan voted for even greater government interference with the Tarp plan. We don’t need his brand of experimentation and learning on the job. We already have that in the Obama administration.
Romney’s VP choice will handicap the GOP just as Palin did for McCain. Nov will be a replay of 2008 as we lose.

What gives you any idea that the tea party patriots are a neocon organization? I have found no evidence to support the theory that this organization is just for republicanism and the advancement of just republican ideals.
Everything I’ve seen thus far points to a basic union of democrats and republicans with the goal of returning our country to it’s former glory and not allowing those who hold all the power to turn it into a dictatorship or fascist state.
Thus far, I’ve seen alot of middle of the road discussion amongst some pretty reasonable individuals about the direction our country is taking and are obviously not happy about.

I can’t imagine why Mitt would want to appeal Obamacare since it is so much based on what Mitt introduced in his state. WHY would he want to appeal it?? Mitt had a number of very good choices for VP. Some “safe”, some perhaps “secure” for the campaign effort. However, he selected Paul not just for the campaign effort, but even more critical, for the future of our great country. Paul, I am sure, with Mitt, and our total support will lead America back to the greatness it has historically has embodied.
Our task going forward is one of education. The far left democratic party will spend every penny of their war chest to convince the “masses” that the Republican leadership wants “millionaires and billionaires” to be rewarded at the expense of the “masses”. We need to cut through this demagoguery with the TRUTH. The truth is we want every American to be raised up. We don’t want our great country (the greatest country ever on the face of this planet) to go the way of Greece, Italy, Portugal, and the rest of Europe. It is up to US (the TEA Party) to lead in this educational effort. If we get 4 more years of Obama, and his socialist minions, it is our fault. We cannot fall short in this effort.

Time will tell. Unfortunately, politics has been all about saying the words people want to hear, but very little about actually delivering on what has been said or promised in return for our vote. I sincerely hope and pray that in thier course they do actually manage to accomplish some positive things for our country and give us a sense of optimism again. I’d like to see some changes rather than have someone continually tell me what those changes need to be, and then nothing happens. When “we the people” again gain a sense of having some control back in our lives, with respect to the outcome of our future, having done our due diligence, and paid our dues, we will once again be a great and prosperous nation. Sadly our current leadership only promises that things will get worse, and then delivers as we pay and pay again. Our government is not the answer. Looking to them will only make them grow bigger to try and satisfy our requests. We all need to take the initiative to take back the responsabilities we have let pass to government agencies. Success does not come easily, it takes work. TPP are those who have awakened after a long sleep, realizing what inaction has perpetrated, and now it’s time to again take control. At least thats how i feel about it. But I’m not convinced any politician associated with the broken machine our current government has become can self repair, and become functional again. Still I will support anything other than who we have in office now, which has proven to be disasterous.

Paul Ryan has great courage. The choice by Romney shows a solid commitment for fiscal responsibility. Being a Medicare Supplement insurance agent I can say that Paul Ryan wants to save Medicare for future generations; not let it run out of money as is what Obama and the Democrats in Congress are letting happen. Remember Obamacare takes $500 billion out of Medicare. Ryan’s plan would give people options to choice their own insurance plans within the Medicare program. Great choice. Now let’s go out and win.

As an insurance agent the only thing I want clarified from Ryan is what does he mean when talks about a “Medicare Exchange”? What does that mean for insurance agents selling Medicare plans?

Federal subsidies to Medicare Advantage will be cut, but that is a cut to private plans, not Medicare, and it’s estimated that if your Medicare Advantage clients want to keep their plans instead of selecting Medicare coverage, it will cost them an additional $43 a month (Factcheck.org).
However, the core Medicare benefits will not be cut, nor will Medicare premiums increase under the Affordable Care Act.

My views certainly do not reflect the general rush to believe that elitist Republicans are going to suddenly fall in love with a ticket that includes a true conservative.
I will believe it when I see the “voices” of the establishment fully support the positions that Ryan takes in the coming days.
I will be happy to stand corrected if it happens, but, until then, just color me skeptical.
As far as this ticket being so different, what is so different about it? Both tickets feature(d) a strong conservative voice in the second position and a mealy mouthed moderate in the top position, although I do have hopes that Romney will step up on that (I never had the slightest idea that McCain ever would have).

I know that Paul Ryan may have voted on certain measures that, in hindsight, may have been unwise. But I also see that he recognized the proble with it, and worked to deal with the deficit in a way nobody else in Congress had seriously addressed.
There are others who would also have made me happy. But I can’t deny this man’s integrity and qualifications for the position, and I applaud Mitt Romney for taking this step.

What does Ryan give the ticket except another Mid-West and North East Rino thought process. Boehner, the worst Speaker in modern history has been supported by Ryan and look at what we currently have to say for the last 2 years. What is it that he can bring to the table, even the state of Wisconsin offers nothing to the Republican party except more Union sympathy minded thoughts. Though I agree with you that Ryan is basically a candidate from an industrial state, I don’t see him as necessarily problematic. What he brings to the table is the fact that he is the only one who had the cajones to put together a reasonable deficit reduction budget. I would expect Romney to want to keep him focused in that area. This is a good thing.
I have a dozen or so on my own “short list”. I’d have loved to see Mitt pick a woman – like Jan Brewer – or minority – like Allen West. But I believe that Paul Ryan is an excellent choice. We could have ended up with an Olympia Snow.

I read that Paul Ryan had read Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged, a book that is also recommended by Ron Paul for good reason. She grew up in Russia and lived through the Bolshevik takeover. She managed to get out and chose to come to America. She knew first hand what would lie ahead if this country follows the socialist path it is on.
Those who plead for GOD to bless America fail to realize that the ethics of the Judeo-Christian theology, Altruism, is the same ethic which underlies socialism. Altruism is discussed at length in Ayn Rand’s The Virtue of Selfishness and The Objectivist Newsletter.
Our Founders got it right when they asserted that Man has a right to his own life, his liberty and his pursuit of happiness. By implication he has no unchosen obligations to fulfill the needs of others and may not be compelled or mandated to do so. Ayn Rand held that Man’s Rights are based on his nature, that he possess a volitional, conceptual consciousness and must be free to act on his own judgment to pursue his own goals.
Man is not a sacrificial animal, which is the metaphysical premise underlying socialism, fascism, communism, interventionism and the many theologies which preach self sacrifice as a virtue.
It is not just Obama one should reject but his whole ideology based at root on the premise that you are to be sacrificed to fulfill the needs of society.
Part two of the movie of Atlas Shrugged will be in theaters before the election on October 12th. You have time to read the whole book before then. Ron Paul did and so did Paul Ryan.

It is now time for us to close ranks and charge. And we have to win. Losing is not an option. I don’t know about you, but with all I’ve posted on the net, if we lose, I would not be surprised to be locked up and they throw away the key. We are very glad that Governor Romney picked a Grassroots Conservative like Paul Ryan. He is a strong leader with a good business head on his shoulders, and one who will not falter in telling the American people the truth they need to hear, that out of control spending, lack of jobs, and lack of a real budget plan will not strengthen America or put our people back to work. We have been suppressed for 3 and1/2 years and are ready to break loose from the bonds of Socialism. I’m not exactly in tears, Ryan is a lifetime politician with no private sector management experience. Neither has he served in the military, and Romney hasn’t either. Not a good start. I liked Allen West better. I sure hope this works out but if Romney wanted a boring white guy that’s what he got.

Ryan brings experience in Washington and working with both sides of the aisle. As far as military service, the current president has none, nor any business experience and he was elected. I think our leadership will be strong in foreign affairs, both will acquire the needed advice and briefings. They have been exposed to foreign affairs. The main ingredient that they have is their pride in the THIS country and their refusal to demean America or bow to foreign leaders will restore our in the world opinion. What attracted me to the Tea Party was all the negative comments by the media. If the media doesn’t like the Tea Party, then I was convinced the Tea Party must be doing something right. BUT! I think Paul Ryan is a good choice for vice president with his knownledge of the budget issues and having allies in congress while knowing how to cross the line and get collaboration. Mr. Romney announce a plan for total tax reform. I feel that tax reform is a must issue for
our country. I do not care if it is a flat tax or a sales tax. Just so it is fair to all. If it is a flat
tax, just so the percentage is the same for all. If it is a 15 percent of taxable income, a
wealthy person is still going to pay a lot more than I do. One thing I believe should be part of it; remove all subsidies and tax benefits that are given to special interest groups and some
groups that wind up with tax breaks because they support certain politicians.

I am so stoked I can hardly believe it. I am renewing my commitment to this race. I think this shows that Romney is really running as a true conservative. I think that this choice is bold. I like the R/R ticket but they better get to defining their stance so that even the least educated can understand when it comes to Social Security and Medicare. Ryan was already on the whipping post resultant of his plan with regards to entitlements. They need a clear, concise explanation as to what they will do to help SS and Medicare and not simply say that they will create 12 million jobs, but explain how they will do it. First off let me say that I am an american indian. My people, my family are all democrats, and we as a people have lose our dignity and lost focus on who we are. Our dependents on the government has total screwed up our willingness to be self sufficient. I grew up on the reservation, listening to my father and grandfather having a love/hate relations with the “white government”. I understand and feel their angry. I love my people, I love my home land, the reservation where I was born and grew up. But I have also seen and lived the hardship that has been lay upon my people. I tell you this for a reason. To be dependent on the government or anyone else, is not where we want to go. I love this country, what it stands for, the freedom that we have to be successful or fail. If you hit a wall you get up and try again. Beleive me when I say you “don’t want anyone pulling your chain” everyday. Personally, I have voted republican all my life, because I believe as an “invited american”, and a born again believer in Jesus Christ, we all have the right to labor and enjoy our fruits. All my life I have helped people in need. All brothers and sisters. I learned this from my father/grandfather/mother/grandmother. I also read this in the Bible. The Great teacher commands us to help one another. I am proud to say that I served this great country for twenty years in the USAF and I would do it again if asked. They teached us to be a team, to look after one another and thats what we have to do now. Re-think ENDORSING this joke!
Mitt had a number of very good choices for VP. Some ”safe”, some perhaps ”secure” for the campaign effort. However, he selected Paul not just for the campaign effort, but even more critical, for the future of our great country. Paul, I am sure, with Mitt, and our total support will lead America back to the greatness it has historically embodied.
Our task going forward is one of education. The far left democratic party will spend every penny of their war chest to convince the “masses” that the Republican leadership wants “millionaires and billionaires” to be rewarded at the expense of the “masses”. We need to cut through this demagoguery with the TRUTH. The truth is we want every American to be raised up. We don’t want our great country (the greatest country ever on the face of this planet) to go the way of Greece, Italy, Portugal, and the rest of Europe. Individualism is very important, as it is important to maintain the rights of states. Even so, we have more to do as a nation, so I will need those who can afford it to pay us more. We will call it a graduated tax rate and it is being done for the good of the country. The same can be said for passage of a bill to make sure railroad workers don’t work more than 8 hours a day. Romney is running of Obamas record in office, but I am voting for Paul Tron.
Ryan voted for the bank bailouts, the biggest Medicare expansion in history (an unfunded con job designed to lure recipients into the clutches of for-profit insurance companies), and voted for the “Bridge to Nowhere”. In fact, he’s voted for everything Republicans did to blow up our deficit, voted for Bush’s stimulus — all things that tea partiers claim to oppose.
Paul Ryan voted to extend and expand the Patriot Act, involves himself in women’s uteruses, supports warrentless wiretapping, and voted to allow the President to hold American citizens prisoner indefinitely without charge or trial. And not only that, Ryan went to school on government money, gets his medical care paid for by taxpayers, and used government grants — not loans, but actual grants — to get rich. He’s lived on the government dole almost all of his life, and now he wants to make sure that no one else can get help when they need it. Even worse, except for working at McDonalds and driving the Wienermobile as summer jobs while in school, he’s spent his entire career in Washington.
What’s even worse is that Paul Ryan takes millions of dollars from the insurance, banking, and pharmaceutical industries and votes for them on their issues while claiming to represent his constituents.
Paul Ryan is a big spending-no tax “conservative”, a Washington insider’s insider, and thoroughly corrupt, yet the Tea Party supports him.
This is why the Tea Party will never be taken seriously.
I think supporting Ryan is a mistake. He wants to project his personal religious believes upon everyone else in the form of law. He has an intrusive, extremist social agenda and wants to use the government to enforce it.
