Affordable Care Act carrying high cost for Nelson

The Supreme Court’s ruling on tax increases contained in The Affordable Care Act has galvanized opposition against Florida’s only Senator to vote for it.
The House has again voted to repeal President Obama’s signature legislation, but a Senate vote has not yet been held. Democratic leadership in the Senate has made no indication that a repeal vote will be scheduled, forcing Florida residents to use Senator Bill Nelson’s yea vote on the original bill as his official position surrounding the ACA.
Leading up to the Court’s ruling, Nelson held a double digit lead over his closest rival, Rep. Connie Mack. Over a month after the ruling, Mack now holds a nine-point lead.
After the ruling, Nelson attempted to bridge the gap between supporters and opponents of the tax increase saying, “The president’s health care bill isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t make any sense to get bogged down in the same old fight again… We should just figure out how to fix what needs to be fixed and move on.”
Mack is quick to highlight original opposition to The Affordable Care Act saying, “ObamaCare was jammed down the throats of the American people by President Obama and Nancy Pelosi despite the public’s widespread opposition. It wasn’t just the wrong-headed government takeover of healthcare, but it was also the highest and most obscene tax increase in the history of America.”
Support for President Obama’s flagship legislation is not traveling down ballot as usual. According to Jenny Beth Martin, President of Tea Party Patriots, “I think that it’s very clear that to get rid of Obamacare, you’re going to have to have a different president.”
While President Obama and Romney are polling less than a percent apart, Mack holds the advantage over Nelson, as well as his other opponents in the upcoming Republican primary.
Real Clear Politics polling places Mack twenty-eight points ahead of his closest rival, former US Senator George LeMieux. However, LeMieux’s candidacy has been tainted by former GOP governor and senate candidate Charlie Crist who has recently angered Republican voters by endorsing Nelson.
LeMeiux served as Crist’s Chief of Staff and Crist originally appointed him to the Senate. After losing the Senate primary, Crist left the Republican Party to run as an independent against Marco Rubio, generating a firestorm of criticism between Crist and the Florida GOP.
Florida’s opposition to the ACA remains above the national average, making Nelson’s support of the law increasingly hazardous to his campaign.

My health care premium has gone up 96.99% since the affordable heathcare law went into affect. This has wiped out my monthly Social Security. In order to have health insurance I have to add money to pay for my insurance. What can I expect next? Taxing the internet, taxing every mile I drive or will I have to pay a more so a turtle can have a tunnel under a highway (3.4 million). Maybe you want to build some bridges at the border so nobody hurts themselves climbing over the wall at the border. You can put more border patrol people at the border so they can direct the people over the bridge. Then you help them more by having free Limo service to take them, just tax everyone no problem.

William: one of the reasons why we need the Affordable Care Act is BECAUSE premiums have been rising so fast. Whatever rise in the cost of your premium you experienced is not attributable to the law, most of which won’t take effect until 2014.
The President’s health care bill was not jammed down anyone’s throat. It won by a majority in Congress, which is how laws are made in this land.
The health insurance system wasn’t working. You know it and I know it. Millions of people got thrown off their policies when they got sick. Millions couldn’t buy insurance at any price because they had a medical condition. Insurance companies decided what your doctor could do or not, if they were going to pay. Tens of millions couldn’t afford any insurance at all.
The insurance system was broken and getting worse. The health care bill regulates the insurance industry, which was long overdue. Now insurance companies have to provide the coverage you’ve been paying for all along, and can’t kick you off when you get sick. You can get insurance even if you have a medical condition. Everyone will be able to find a policy that they can afford.
The government did not take over health care. It regulated the insurance industry so people don’t get ripped off or denied coverage, a perfectly reasonable thing for the government to do — provided you believe the government should be of the people, by the people, and for the people, that is.

The healthcare bill was passed by the supreme court, not a vote in congress. Obama was making it clear that if the supreme court didn’t pass it, he would use excutive order anyway, and making it known that there would be changes that would affect the supreme court in a harsh way among other things(which was shown and proved), which is not how it works in this country. I totally agree that we need changes in healthcare for our country, but not the way the current healthcare is designed! The way it will be paid for is insane! I’m on disabilty at 44 yrs old due to problems not of my own, and I depend on disabilty payments to barely survive and having to live with family. However, I’m in college retraining to go back to work in a job I can perform when I graduate. So I am not going to depend on the government to send me money for the rest of my life. I earned what I get each month in disabilty payments, which is obviously less than if I were at retirement age. College is way to expensive and that’s really wrong for the younger generation more so than myself. Obama promised at the beginning of his term that if he didn’t meet certain requirements during his term, he wouldn’t run. Well those requirements are not what he promised, so why is he running? There’s so many things he PROMISED and most of it hasn’t happened. I don’t like to sling mud on anyone and attack them personally, I just go by facts and that’s it. And the facts have convinced me we need a change. If Obama had made significant changes, I’d agree he should stay. I just can’t believe that anyone based on the facts would believe he’ should stay! However, it is a free country, but even that is dwindling in many ways! Our forefather’s put the constitution in place based on christian morals, and that has been compromised in so many ways, and not just with Obama. Greed is what motivates the government. I think everyone in government should live as a middle to lower class person for one year to really see the hardships the majority of our country goes through, then maybe they would have a whole new perspecive on what works and what doesn’t work and what really needs to be done! Even though they may have been there before, once they move up in life, they seem to forget where they came from and then greed sets in. The government is way to big and was never intended to be that way by our forefathers! If the constitution was followed like it should have been since the beginning, we would never have to worry about the serious issues we are dealing today. All things aside, I put my faith in the Lord Jesus Christ! God is the creator of everything and he’s the one who is really in control when it’s all said and done. Satan is always doing dirty work, and when God’s had enough, he’ll step in be the decision maker, and that’ll be a glorious day! No one had read the billm and many senators stated that and we the people surely didn`t know what was in it. It is not that most American’s do not want a better health care system, they do we just want to over turn this insane bill which was passed by a Democratic majority who admit they never read the bill before they voted on it.Many say now if they knew what they were voting for they would not do the same now. Let get back to sound reasoning. Canada has health care, why do they come to the United States to be treated for cancer, because there is a six to eight month waite in Canada to be treated. How would you like that? Denmark has health care but 505 of all salaries made are taken from working people to pay for it. How you you like to be 20 years old, realitively heathy as most 20 year old are and your given 505 of your pay check to pay for old people, for a life time. Do you know after the first of the year if you either buy or sell a home you will pay a 8% tax on the purchase or sel of homes to pay for Obama Care. People can’t afford now to even keep their homes let alone buy one. How is this going to help the horrible housing market which supports builders, home furnishing companies etc How are local city government going to provide services if they no longer are able to get property taxes.Government interference is the problem. I paid $500. for my college degree, kids are signing up for loans of $200,000. to pay for college why? the colleges do not have to compete anymore because the government is handing they money to pay for degrees and then charging interest to poor students who can’t get a job to pay for them. Some think the health care is free far from it we will be taxed up the yeng yang. If we just mandated that the insurance companies had to insure everyone it would be far less costly I’ve noticed Doctors will let people stay in the hospital for a certain amount of time, when the money from the government stops being given you go home. In the same vain I’m sure people are being over treated as long as the government pays. Have you noticed all the commercials for scooters on T.V. which state we’ll do the paper work and guarantee you’ll receive a scooter. HOW ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF ME IN pUBLIX BUYING STEAKS and going out and getting in to their Mercedes. As long as the government is handing out money their will be those who should not be receiving it. A few hard working people like myself will be paying for it, untill the money runs out for everyone including those who need heath care. After all these years I have finally realized why tea bagger types have been pushing for lower taxes. In former times when we had adequate revenue, we had a functional mental health system. Dear Senator Nelson, please please repeal obamacare. It is the highest tax ever imposed on the middle class. my son who is 32 yrs old makes about $30,000/yr and cannot afford health insurance right now-he drives a jalopy/shares an apt with a roommate to make ends meet-he is trying to get his own business going, and this extra tax will really hit him hard. How can Obama say no new taxes to those making less than $250,000 and then turn around & do this????mindboggling, Please vote to repeal-it is so unfair to do that to people who are struggling-what were you thinking$$$-what was the congress thinking??? Not sure why we keep complaining about Obama Care or the Affordable Health Care Act.
The House, lead by a majority of Republicans, can simply refuse to fund the Federal government for things that do not have to be done. But they can’t break their own addiction to the spending.
Shut down those segments of the government that are not critical. While it may be inconvenient to not be able to go to a park ran by the government, maybe those folks could just pay to open it up.
Why can’t we close down post offices on Saturday and not deliver the mail on 2 days of the week instead of one?
Why can’t we send the Congress home for a few months, including all their staff members?
Why don’t we tell the president and the first lady they have to have a staycation until we are not running a deficit?
Why do we not expect the Federal government to work the same as any household, spending what they earn and put a little away for bad times, i.e. those “rainy days”?

I hope all those who question the legitimacy of Barack Obama’s birth certificate will get behind my campaign to have Mitt Romney show us his original long-form birth certificate. After all, we don’t know who this guy really is. His father was born in Mexico to a family of polygamists, came to US during the Mexican Revolution (no doubt to his spread radical Mexican ideals) and can be considered a radical socialist (he was instrumental in implementing Michigan’s first state income tax AND greatly expanded the size of government AND he tried to get increased housing for the poor while Secretary for HUD) AND he advocated public service and volunteerism (just like a certain Socialist that we have in the White House now!). Now his son Mitt Romney, who is a leading figure in a very secretive religious sect, won’t even let us see his tax returns. What is he hiding? We have the right to know! Don’t get fooled AGAIN!

1.The birth certificate that the white House released lists Obama’s birth as August 4, 1961 & lists Barack Hussein Obama as his father. No big deal, right? At the time of Obama’s birth, it also shows that his father is aged 25 years old, and that Obama’s father was born in “Kenya, East Africa.” This wouldn’t seem like anything of concern, except the fact that Kenya did not even exist until 1963, two whole years after Obama’s birth, and 27 years after his father’s birth. How could Obama’s father have been born in a country that did not yet exist? 2.On the Birth Certificate released by the White House, the listed place of birth is “Kapi’olani Maternity & Gynecological Hospital”. This cannot be, because the hospital(s) in question in 1961 were called “KauiKeolani Children’s Hospital” and “Kapi’olani Maternity Home”, respectively. 3.Perhaps a clue comes from Obama’s own writings in the book about his father. He sates how proud he is of his father fighting in WWII. Barack Obama’s “birth certificate” says his father was 25 years old in 1961 when Barack was born. That should put his father’s date of birth approximately in 1936. (61-25=35) (1961-25=1935) Now we need a non-revised history book: one that hasn’t been altered to satisfy the author’s goals: to verify that WWII was basically between 1939 and 1945. Just how many 3 year olds, do you know that fight in wars? Even in the latest stages of WWII his father wouldn’t have been more than 9. Does that mean that Mr. Obama is a liar, or simply chooses to alter the facts to satisfy his imagination or political purposes? Isn’t the result the same?

About your comment on the Mormons being a very secretive religious sect – there are 14 million Mormons worldwide. Pretty tough to call them secretive. Democrats originally forced Medicare through under LBJ. Then they screwed that up by continually adding services. Then they used all that Medicare money for everything else except paying Doctors the agreed rates. Doctors made it up the shortfall by charging those with insurance higher fees, thereby raising everyones insurance. Now that the Feds spent all those trillions in Medicare Taxes, they needed more taxes, so they invented Obama Care with the same plan. Take a trillion from the American people to spend however they want, and deny heath care to citizens at the federal level, forcing everyone to use State Medicaid resources without compensatinfg the States. It will backfire.

The Congress certainly understands it they know how bad Obamacare is and want no part of it. It is good enough for us the Public but not for the Congress.
