1,216 Days Since the Senate Passed a Budget
August 29, 2012 at 2:52 pm in Harry M. Reid, News by Tea Party Patriots 14 Comments

1,216 days ago, the Senate passed a budget. Since that point, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has refused to do his legal responsibility and pass a budget through his chamber. While it’s not his only abdication of duty – Sen. Reid has also refused to reform Social Security, and used the Senate floor to dishonorably attack Mitt Romney over his taxes – this may be his most important one. As Tea Party Patriots pointed out earlier this month, how can we stop overspending when there isn’t even a budget to consider?
This failure by Sen. Reid has been beat up by conservatives and liberals alike over the last several years, but let’s provide some fun facts to that can compare to 1,216 days:
- 1,216 days is equal to 3.33 years. Which means the last time Sen. Reid passed a budget, Obama had been President for less than six months
- 1,216 days ago Tea Party Patriots was barely a thought, never mind an organization with 1.5 million supporters
- The distance from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Fairfax, Virginia is 1,213 miles, according to Google Maps
- Nobody had heard of Solyndra 1,216 days ago
- Bernie Madoff wasn’t yet a convict 1,216 days ago
- The national debt was a little over $11 trillion 1,216 days ago
Presidents Bush and Obama, and leaders in both parties, have failed in many ways when it comes to the federal budget. However, to their credit, President Obama, Speaker Boehner, and other leaders in Washington have at least showed the American people what their spending priorities are. While their priorities (especially President Obama’s, which has major tax increases and significantly misleading numbers on economic growth) may not be the methods of Tea Party Patriots, at least they have put forward a budget whose merits can be debated in the open. By not following the law, Sen. Reid is not allowing a free and open debate on the priorities of Democrats in the Senate, and is thus disenfranchising the people of his state and the people of the states of all other Senators.

congressmen that refuse to do the job they were elected for should be impeached immediatly and replaced in committies by those of other parties immediatly, as to continue constituent representation and congressional progress.and there should be stronger penalties for congressional leaders that prevent representation of other congressmens constituents. as they vote to be represented and have therefore had their right to vote and be represented illegally cancelled.
Golly! So, how has our government been funded for all that time?
By continuing resolutions, approved by BOTH houses of Congress.
Don’t let the Republican controlled House of Representatives off the hook on this.
The three I’s. Impeach, indict, and imprison. Our federal government has become a tyranny of wholly corrupt career politicians bent on maintaining their status quo until the piggy bank is drained….of which it was some time ago.
this can be blamed the tea party republicans, John Boehner said, and i quote:”it is our job to make sure that President Obama will not be re-elected”. In other words they will no longer be concentrating on the American people but will become obsructunists whose sole duty is to bring America into a recession, so they will get re-elected and Obama wont. As for the tea party complaint that he is a big government spender, read this:

The Senate hasn’t passed a budget because of Tea Party Republicans?
If you can explain that, (simply and clearly please, I am a knuckle dragger) I might be willing to pay attention to whatever other nonsense you were spouting.
I went and read the Forbes article. Here’s a news flash- growth in spending is NOT the same as spending.
Why not talk about just plain total yearly government spending?
The last time the Democratic controlled Senate allowed a budget to come to the floor for a vote was April 22, 2010.
Republicans, Tea Party or not, have absolutely no power to bring a budget to the Senate floor for a vote. Only the Democrats can do that. And they haven’t.
Never mind about Republican fillibustering, please help me to understand why all the members of the different Tea Parties are not livid over the Republican voter suppression laws. At last count, there were 11 states and 4 pending. Isn’t the Tea Party all about protecting the US constitution? Come on, show some backbone. Live up to your ideals. This is about as anti-US constitution as you can get!!!
The lack of a budget has nothing to do with Republicans. It’s the Democrats who won’t bring a budget to the floor for a vote, and there’s nothing the Republicans can do about it.
Libertarians have been struggling under onerous ballot access laws, supported by both Republicans and Democrats, for years. Should there be outrage?
Obama Has a Budget. If Bush would have kept on with Clinton’s Surplus, did not give out $2.5 Trillion in Tax Breaks to the Rich, Start 2 Unneeded Unfunded Wars that cost us another $2.5 Trillion,Give $800 Billion to Pharma to overfund Medicare and have to Bail out Wall Street due to Deregulations, We would be Debt Free NOW. Where is the Tea Party Outrage for those Failed Policies???

Hey, fool who needs educating. I’ve got a christian website for ya, atlah.org
Obama might have proposed a budget, but the Democratic Senate won’t bring it to the floor for a vote.
Clinton had a surplus because the House and Senate were controlled by Republicans.
Obama promised to turn around the extravagant Bush spending and get deficit spending under control, but he just continued spending, and spending , and spending- with the help of Congress of course.
“We the people” need a class action lawsuit to impeach the President and Congress for failure to pass a budget. In addition, “We the people” need to establish / set the federal budget and adjust our annual income tax contributions accordingly. Tell the federal government how much money you will get and that’s it. Now go establish priorities and fund necessary programs only and live within our means.
I cannot believe the arrogance as well as the ignorance of people that claim to know the law. The person above that just loves to hear himself talk has a tendancy to speak without blame. Enough, enough, enough of the blame game, don’t you think it is time to stop the blame and use the Constitution to be our source of truth seeing it is there to protect America from falling into corruption, like it is today in politics?
People this is serious!!!!!! While people are playing the blame game, we are ready to go off the fiscal cliff. It is both parties that have failed to do the protecting of Americans. Sure Senator Harry Reid is responsible for holding up the process in passing a budget.
Look at it this way, a household could not go very far if there are not precautionary measures in place, so what makes the government an exception? IT IS OUR MONEY NOT THEIRS!!!!!!!!
” Evil exists when good people fail to stand up for what is right”, so stop the blame game and do something about it. Starting with learn the truth by doing your research so that you do not look like a fool, Second: File a petition in your state and when enough people file a petition the Congress will take us more seriously and will not take a derelict role in this matter.Third: Contact your elected officials and tell them that you have a petition of the people in your district and we will hold them accountable as well as anyone else that have failed to protect the public from corruption.
It is corruption folks!!!! It is our money they are using for their own agenda. We have to wake up and smell the coffee or we will be forced to wake up by default, our fault for not paying attention to what is going on right under our noses.
One final thing to consider: If the dollar crashes, who and what will pay your bills and feed you and your family? It is coming very soon, like a thief in the night!!!! THIS IS VERY SERIOUS AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT JUST LIKE I HAVE. I AM WAITING FOR AN ANSWER BACK FROM MY CONGRESSMAN, HOW ABOUT YOU WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?
