Yes, it would be nice to be out of debt! However, as soon as Republicans are in office, they

Victory in the Senate is very important this election. We are talking about not just a simple majority but a veto proof and filibuster proof kind of majority. Hopefully BHO will not be re-elected but even if ballot corruption somehow gets him back in, a strong Tea Party conservative majority in the house and senate would effectively neutralize him. The unemployment rate is double that 8.2%. People have given up and businesses aren’t hiring until they make sense of the damage this president has done to workers. This president couldn’t have been more anti-business if he tried.
If they allowed people to drill our own oil instead of sending trillions to people that would like to kill us – When this socialist took office I think gas was down around $1.80 / gallon. For nearly his entire reign gas was around $4.00. Imagine how much more disposable money would be flying around if everybody had the extra money to blow. Look at the whole ethanol thing – burning our food supply in a draught and subsidize a product thats crap – this country is broken. Civil war is coming.

It also shows a great deal of courage and common sense that they didn’t allow themselves into the stupidity of releasing the names of those who were there without a need to know. obama definitely didn’t need to know. False: We have 198 billion barrels of recoverable oil (which is roughly 26 percent of the entire world’s recoverable oil). This doesn’t take into account oil reserves that have not been discovered.

I have to admit, Fox News staffers have the art of brainwashing down to a science. I have watched it myself, and I am amazed how well they are able to distort reality and pass it as the truth. Once you repeat the same lies over and over it becomes truth to the Low information, low IQ listener.
The only way this can work is if the listener only hears the repeated lies over and over and is isolated from any other information source. Fox came up with a pretty successful strategy to isolate their viewers from everyone else. Just convince your viewers that EVERY OTHER news organization in the world is “Liberal”, that way they wont listen to anyone else, and you successfully isolate them. They only hear what you want them to hear, and you’ve made the listener think it was their choice to do so. And now that’s all you hear their listeners say- “oh.. CNN, NBC, CBS, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, Associated Press, WGN, BBC, Guardian.co.uk, etc…. they’re all just LIBERAL”.
Right now Fox “news” viewers are nodding to themselves saying “yup, that’s all the liberal lame stream media”
The only way to truly become informed is to get your news from multiple sources with different viewpoints, or at least center viewpoints. Then it can put in perspective how distorted Fox’s “reality” is from every other news organization

• Reality: Not only has President Obama approved fewer regulations through his first three years than President Bush did, but he signed an executive order requiring agencies to develop tools to eliminate ineffective or burdensome regulations. He initiated an overhaul to roll back more than 500 regulatory reforms from 26 different agencies.
• Romney: “[President Obama] said that if we let him borrow $787 billion, he would hold unemployment below 8%.”
• Reality: Fact checkers have repeatedly found this claim to be false. As the Associated Press plainly points out, “Obama never said the he would hold unemployment below 8 percent if Congress adopted his stimulus package.” The Washington Post even notes that “the information to disprove this claim exists on the Romney campaign website.”
• Romney: President Obama “has not created more jobs for the American people.”
• Reality: When President Obama took office, the economy was losing an average of 752,000 private sector jobs per month. But for the last 25 straight months, the economy has added more than 4 million private sector jobs.
• Romney: “The number of new businesses started per year is down 100,000 a year under the Obama term.”
• Reality: In 2011 the rate of business starts was 5 percent higher than before the recession, translating into more than 540,000 new businesses started each month.
• Romney: “Did you know, by the way, that of all the jobs lost during the Obama years, 93% were lost by women? 93% were lost by women.”
• Reality: Reality: Fact checkers and economic experts have labeled this charge “dubious,” “skewed,” and “mostly false” Romney “statistics” provides no meaningful measure as it hides critical facts that would provide a more honest picture of the economy.
• Romney: “If [President Obama] remains President of the United States, you’re going to see more trillion-dollar deficits piling up and piling up.”
• Reality: The President’s budget would cut the deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade, putting the country on course “toward a level of deficits of below 3 percent of GDP by the end of the decade. “The President has already enacted $1 trillion in spending cuts, which will bring discretionary spending to its lowest levels as a share of the economy since the Eisenhower Administration.
• Romney: “It’s servicemen and women coming home from conflict to a welcoming nation but a very inhospitable job market.”
• Reality: President Obama is committed to ensuring that our veterans have access to the jobs and opportunities they deserve. The President has enacted several tax credits to help get veterans back to work, including the Returning Heroes Tax Credit which gives businesses a maximum credit of $5,600 for every unemployed veteran hired; the Wounded Warriors Tax Credit which offers businesses that hire veterans with service-connected disabilities a maximum credit of $9,600 per veteran. He also announced that certain grant programs that support emergency responder programs nationwide will give preference to communities “that recruit and hire post-9/11 veterans to serve as police officers and firefighters.”
If his record is any indication, Romney will find his promise to tell the truth a difficult pledge to fulfill.

Congress represents us and speaks for us! They must open a committee to review Sheriff Joe’s work! Issue a Subpoena for Obama’s birth certificate, SSAN Number records (including application), College Records (Including Applications) as well as all aliases (Barry Soetera)! As Commander in Chief, Obama carries the highest security clearance and has access to all of our security information for our nation! If these subpoened records are not available and/or if they show what a two year old could observe, Obama must immediately be arrested (along with the leadership of the Democrat Party who were responsible for vetting him as a candidate for President) Obama must be charged with Treason and removed immediately from office! It happened under Bush’s watch, (Democratic House and Senate) with Treasury Secretary Snow repeatedly warning that Fannie and Freddie were getting to large, and Barney Frank repeatedly lying that Fannie/Freddie were ‘sound,’ deliberately ignoring financial crisis.

A little mentioned fact from Obama’s needed stimulus package, he took the welfare reform that Clinton had given to the states so they could have better control over at a local level, and returned it to the federal level. At the local level, they had developed responsibility, no state could afford to carry on as before, signing checks without asking questions of the recipients and requiring responsibility. The 1996 Personal Responsibility and Work opportunity Act, check it out.
And my favorite, GM is alive! Alive and well in China! GM will be producing cars in China so China doesn’t have to pay the high import tariff and then exporting them to us! Is that not just the best way to save jobs? And Obama has the nerve to point fingers at Romney. check out the link.

I do not watch FOX news. All the news is depressing. I ride around this town and the country and see the closed stores and businesses that will never recover. I know people who are still losing jobs and some who have given up and started collecting food stamps and searching for any help they can for their family. There are still people losing their homes that they have worked so hard to buy. This is still happening today. It is not getting any better. Open your eyes, talk to people who are in distress, students who have graduated from college and can’t get a job, parents who are looking for a place for food and a place to live for their family. It is so sad to see what has happened to our country when we had such hope in this man and now he is quickly destroying all that we worked for. You have no compassion. You pretend to care but will vote for further destruction. I will soon be a retiree and realize that all my husband and I have worked, planned, and prepared for will soon be taken away and we will be at the mercy of the government. We realize that it is not Democrats or Republicans that have caused this. They are both guilty but Obama has accelerated the destruction. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of the cancer affecting America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency.
It amazes me how Bush policies are blamed for the current recession. The recession was caused by the housing debacle. That came from several things: (1) over-borrowing due to interest rates being too low for too long before the Bush Adm. When interest rates are held too low by the fed tampering with the market, demand for large purchases like housing go up too fast. (2) Bankers did make many bad loans (referred to as “predatory loans”), but bankers don’t make money on bad loans, unless something else makes it profitable. (3) That something was Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac– government sponsored entities (GSE)– set up for the purpose of extending home ownership to people who could not afford it otherwise. (4) Barney Frank and dems pushed hard for extending Fannie and Freddie to lower income families. (5) Fannie and Freddie are controlled by the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development who laid down the rule that Fannie and Freddie loans must be proportional to the population in a given area (quotas) without regard for the ability to pay off those loans. (6) Then groups like Acorn (for whom Pres Obama was a lawyer, though I do not know that he represented them in housing cases?) sued banks when the loans they made did not meet quotas for lower income families and minorities. You could say that the repeal of Glass-Steagall (by the Clinton admin) worsened the problem by allowing more financial institutions to be in the field of housing loans and repackaging them as securities. I have little regard for bankers myself and put some blame on them, but without severe government interference in the market, bad loans would not have been profitable, period. And to make it worse, HUD and Acorn forced banks, at times, to make those loans. We can also blame ourselves for borrowing too much. (I compiled all the above info while doing a research paper for my masters of public policy and admin… it’s all 100% true and well sourced.) But isn’t it easy to just say, It’s those bad banker’s fault, or it’s Bush’s fault?

Hey Bob. Don’t you realize that all taxes are paid by the consumer? All businesses count taxes as an expense to their product. So… Taxes, material costs, labor costs, marketing etc are all added into the cost of the product/services. You pay the taxes when you purchase. All the taxing of businesses does is just gives congressman Billy the ability to give preferential treatment to the businesses he wants to succeed or just for the monetary support that will be expected in an election year. Using tax dollars to get donations is another way of putting it. Something the politicians have been doing for years, both sides. The tax system needs to be redone to make it fair. You are taxed when you earn your money. You pay your tax on things you buy AND the taxes of all the businesses that had a part in producing the product/service. Now you are taxed again on some of the things you bought because you own it. Then, to top it all off, taxed when you sell it. Now, all the taxes the government collects are not guaranteed to be applied to what the tax was for. For instance: In Florida, the pushed the state lottery through because it was supposed to help the schools. In a sense it does but not the way you would think. Let’s say a school was supposed to get $10 million for it’s yearly budget. Lottery gave the school $4 million, does that mean they got $14 million? NO! The government, instead of giving the school the $10 million we were taxed for it only gave them $6 million. What is being done with the $4million tax dollars? Being spent on pork. We have to get more responsible Americans (not greedy) people in office. There is so much more to say but remember this: When government was smaller and not into being a business (or socialistic) our country was number one in most, if not all, things. We were the envy of the world. But what has happened in the last 20 years? That’s what we have to change back.

Instead of name calling, people should just look around them to see what is happening. I don’t rely on any news media to make my decisions. I just observe the suffering of families, children, and the young students who had such high hopes for their future. I listen to the real people, not news commentators, and have noticed that nothing has gotten better. Obama is like a Pied Piper that sounds wonderful, but is leading us to destruction. Many will follow him. Unfortunatly, we will all suffer even though we know where he is leading us. I am observing a wealthy widow who is suffering now because of Obama’s policies. She may eventually lose her home since she has lost all her savings. She believed all his promises and voted for him and has just now given up hope. The alternative is I go on Medicaide, which many doctors don’t even take, especially w/ 30,000,000 more people now being covered by this system. i have two incurable diseases- MS and diabetes. If I need a test like an MRI, I will be considered a low priority — a bad investment — for the procedure. This decision isn’t between my doctor and me. it’s by a panel of government employees with the dollars as the first priority, not the patient, and it’s the law now. The same holds for meds and surgeries and all things medical — ABOUT MY HEALTHCARE !!!!!!!!!!!!! AND YOURS NOW TOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
… and the cost — you and everyone else will pav this entitlement (which has tripled before its even fully implemented) effective immediately whether you want to or not. The RS is in charge and will keep any tax refund you thought you were due — or put a lien on your house — anything to get the $ … and it’s not to get the $ to pay for your healthcare. o Here are the so called jobs bills that the Obstructionist Tea Baggers in the House continue to speak of. To make sure they back up their public claims with what might appear to be “fact”; they’ve built a page on the House of Representatives site with a list of their so-called jobs bills, which number 27 and not 30 as the Speaker Boehner claims. What follows is a list and a brief explanation of why they are not jobs bills. Feel free to share it widely with your friends who might be inclined to believe Mr. Tobacco Lobbyist Check Distributor Boehner without questioning it. These bills are nothing more than ALEC written legislation design to line the pockets of the Tea Parties Corporatist Puppet Masters at the expense of America’s Middle Class. These are the Policies that the Koch Brothers and TPP Propose.
HR 3630 – The Middle Class Tax Relief & Job Creation Act of 2011 – This bill does indeed extend the “docfix” and unemployment insurance for a year, but with a hefty price.
In addition to freezing federal workers’ pay for three years, it requires issuance of a permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline in advance of the proposed routing by Nebraska, suspends the newly-issued mercury regulations and extends 100% expensing of business equipment (including private jets). Another so-called “jobs bill”, HR 1938, was passed giving a November 1, 2011 deadline for the Keystone pipeline.
With regard to unemployment insurance benefits, it cuts the 99-week maximum down to a 59-week maximum by mid-2012, allow states to drug-test UI recipients, and allow states to reduce state unemployment benefits and substitute federal funds. It also cuts funding for key provisions of the Affordable Care Act coming online, and adds the requirement to welfare payments that EBT cards cannot work in strip clubs, liquor stores and casinos.
Provisions were included to auction more broadband spectrum and reclassify the 700mhz D Block as public safety broadband use only, which would be a huge payoff to Verizon Wireless lobbyists, who won that block with requirements that it remain open, after Google challenged the auction process.
It would force Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to pay increased guarantee fees similar in scope to those due from large banks as a part of the Dodd-Frank Act, means-tests unemployment insurance benefits and food stamp programs and increases Federal employees’ contributions to their retirement system by 1.5% while freezing pay, so their pensions take a double-whammy.
Finally, it repeals the new timing rules for estimated corporate tax payments for companies with assets of $1 billion or more so that they can use payments of estimated taxes as a timing tool for fourth quarter profit declarations.
None of the provisions outlined above create jobs. They called it a jobs act, but it was really just an act.
HR 1633 – Farm Dust Regulation Prevention Act of 2011
This bill prevents the EPA from issuing or finalizing regulations revising air quality standards under the Clean Air Act, and excepts farm dust from all references to “particulate matter.”
No jobs there, but if anyone has ever suffered from Valley Fever, they might object to exempting dust, particularly farm dust, from the definition of particulate matter.
HR 10 – Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2011
Guts the regulation process by mandating that every regulation promulgated by approved by Congress after an onerous submission process, while exempting any Congressional finding from judicial review. Call this one the Carte Blanche For Congress To Kill All Regulatory Authority Bill.
What it is not: A jobs bill.
HR 3010 – Regulatory Accountability Act of 2011
HR 3010 is a modified, somewhat less onerous version of HR 10, setting guidelines for whether any regulations are warranted at all even if called for under a statute. Calling an anti-regulatory statute a jobs bill is a little like calling a half-built bridge infrastructure. So again, not a jobs bill.
HR 527 – Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act of 2011
Ostensibly, HR 527 would reduce regulatory requirements on small businesses by forcing an impact study with specific focus on small business before regulation is adopted. It would limit EPA, OSHA and CFPB regulations while presumably protecting “small” closely-held Subchapter S corporations like Koch Industries. Not a jobs bill.
HR 3012 – Fairness for High-Skilled Immigrants Act of 2011
HR 3012 would expand job immigration beyond current limits by eliminating employment-based immigrant visa caps and raising the percentage of total visas granted to 15% from 7%. For this one, I’ll say it IS a jobs bill, but not a jobs bill for American workers. It is the “Elite Immigration Jobs Bill of 2011″.
HR 3094 – Workforce Democracy and Fairness Act
HR 3094 redefines collective bargaining units and makes significant changes to election procedures, including one intended to intimidate employees: an employer-supplied list of eligible voters with contact information provided by the employee.
Not a jobs bill. A union-buster bill.
HR 2930 – Entrepreneur Access to Capital Act
HR 2930 exempts startups raising less than $1 million in venture capital from small investors from SEC registration and oversight.
Not a jobs bill. An anti-regulatory bill.
HR 2940 – Access to Capital for Job Creators Act
HR 2940 repeals prohibitions on solicitation or advertising of a securities offering. It’s a companion to HR 2930, and is intended to allow people with no relationship to a startup company to invest in it without any oversight by the SEC. HR 1965 changes the shareholder threshhold for SEC registration from 500 to 2000 shareholders. It’s not a jobs bill. It’s a “hide from the SEC” bill. Its companion, HR 1970, would exempt SEC registration of public offerings under $50 million rather than the current $5 million threshold

We are also fed up with ignorant, racist, greedy citizens who want to sit at home and collect their welfare checks while the rest of us work and pay taxes. Marlin, Your biggest problem..and the Problem with the Tea Party is that you actually believe the Lies, Propaganda and Misinformation of Fox “news”, the GOP, ALEC and AFP and you vote against your own Economic, Social, Environmental and Health care Reform interests because of them. Get educated to the Facts! Use Fact Check, Politifact or listen to Progresseve radio or TV if you even have it in your area.

Though I’m not crazy about voting for Mr. Romney as the Rep. Choice for President, I’ll vote for him in the belief that he will be for the People and not vote for Obama!
This site like so many others certainly creates a lot of controversy in all the comments. It is a good example of how the lack of civil and rational discussion is dividing our country. Most of these comments seem to come from intelligent people but most do not facilitate or foster anyone to change their preconceived notions ingrained through one’s learning history. Of course lively debate is very necessary in a free society but the lack of civil and rational discussion tends to just condemn the writers and their faithful followers to become more entrenched into their own Ego-centric version of reality.
I myself as an observer, wonder if these writers will ever realize that perhaps they have much more in common than they have in radical differences. Don’t we all want to care for and protect our loved ones? Don’t we all want enough freedom to pursue happiness? And shouldn’t we all recognize that in most cases we give up our ability to love one another and change another’s strongest held beliefs by insulting and condemning those that hold alternative beliefs. We give ourselves over to our autonomic nervous systems when we adopt confrontational positions which trigger our “fight or flight” basic survival instincts. That is not to say that we are not well served by these in life threatening situations but to live life constantly in this mode doesn’t leave much room for rational and spiritual faculties to have much sway. Too many well intentioned people don’t understand that our “sacred beliefs” are just that “beliefs” rather than absolute knowledge or truth.
I see how divided our nation is in a dichotomous fight to have it completely our way while vilifying those you disagree. I believe that when one side condemns the other of not caring at all about the welfare of their neighbors and wanting to push Grandma off the Cliff, etc., etc., is just as ridiculous, untrue and divisive as the other side castigating all that our pro-choice as remorseless “baby killers”, etc., etc. We have such horrible examples of the partisan politicking by those who would lead our nation, that without rational and civil examples set by those who have been entrusted to raise our children (parents) up to be responsible, rational, civil, and clear thinking voters and leaders of tomorrow we end up with unnecessary personal fights and group supported wars with our heinously portrayed enemies – those we disagree with.
Now believe me, I know there is a time for standing up and fighting for principles and a time for peaceful co-existence with others who believe they have a better way. If our forefathers had not the courage to revolt against an oppressive governing system America with all its success and freedoms would never have come to be or survive as we have. And I fear the drift away from our founding principles but I fear even more the radicalization of both sides of the argument. We all need to be open to honestly examining our so called enemies’ beliefs before we can intelligently suggest counter point.
This is a time of great turmoil and radicalization, but I like to believe that the best ideas will win out in a system that allows free and open discussion. Even our leaders who never reveal their true intentions until they have won power will be found out through the free exchange of ideas by those who have been taught by example to question everything including their own self-righteous beliefs. Our greatest enemy is fanaticism which has always been the greatest enemy of freedom. Fanaticism leaves no room for rational thought and civil discourse. “The end always justifies the means”.
Any organized system, whether it be man-made religion or government is deleterious when it tries to cut off free thinking and free choice. When someone allows any authority to circumvent their personal ability to commune freely with their higher power, whether it be God or the replacement of God with human leaders they are giving up the most important responsibility of freedom loving individuals. When everyone is free to express their own thoughts without immediate condemnation, and encouraged to claim and protect that most basic right, the best ideas will win out. It is only through the condemnation and rejection of free thought and new ideas that Tyrants can succeed.
Whether you are just a “Troll” who comes on this site and others just to hate and fight or whether you just can’t resist taking the “bait” and give the Troll exactly what he wants!
Where are the few good men/women who can rise above this partisan, Kindergarten bickering. Can someone tell me please, I really want to knowso I can go there and find some rational, civil discussion about issues that are of such great importance to the future of America! !
Hello everyone, Mostly Republicans on this site I am hearing or what I was scrolling through. Sorry but I am not Republican nor will I ever be one. I believe that if we do have Republican in office for The President of The United States that yes we will be back into war. We will never see the light of day. All they do is talk of what sounds good during their campaignaing or what they think people like to hear or might like to hear. Soon as that is over bam there we all go falling down flat on our butts again. Yes sure I want to be able to see us come out of debt who does not? Look who got us into this big mess to begin with. Sorry but it was all Bush!!!!! President Obama walked in on this mess and it has been a very deep one at that! You can’t change a grape into a raisin over night. There is not one single sole that is going to snap their fingers and dig us all out of this mess tommorow. It is going to take time. I am going to stay democratic and vote for what I feel is right….. I went to see the movie 2016 last night (8/21/2012) and it is the most informative production on Obama that could have been made. I think everyone in the United States should see it. Obama through his mother, father and other mentors has an agenda that will reduce our country to be just another country and not the inspiration for the rest of the world. See it and encourage everyone you know or don’t know to see it. Even some of those who support Obama really don’t know him.
