Will This Be Your Last Independence Day?
July Fourth.
Independence Day.
Normally we celebrate this day and enjoy our freedom. This year we cannot sit back and rest with BBQ during the day and fireworks at night.
This year – this week starting today – we must fight for our independence. If we do not fight now, we may never be free again to celebrate Independence Day.
As it stands, we have one party that wants to trample our freedom and will do whatever it takes to achieve their goal of a massive government takeover of our lives. We have another party that is afraid to take a stand and wrings its hands saying there are problems, but never corrects the problems.
The burden of protecting our Constitution, and America’s independence, is on our shoulders. This week’s Supreme Court decision reinforces the fact that We the People must defend our Liberty. Americans have known this from the moment Benjamin Franklin walked out of Constitution Hall and replied to the lady who asked what form of government we got, “a republic, madam, if you can keep it.” We must keep our republic.
Our country is in grave danger. Some are trying to sugarcoat our problems. They are not being honest or worse they simply do not understand how serious the situation truly is.
You deserve the truth. Most of you reading this know the truth already: we are headed toward economic collapse because of out-of-control spending on out-of-control government programs. The ruling elites control more of our lives than ever before. Some citizens do not understand how precious and rare and fragile our freedom is. Others know what is a risk, what could become our future, and are scared, angry, and left wondering what to do.
We have college students in this country who think that anarchy is the answer. 49% of Americans do not pay taxes and want those who do pay taxes and do support the country to support these “takers” as though they were dependent children, not independent Americans. Our country is divided and the ruling elites think these divisions will help them secure even more power and control over us. They don’t seem to care that the risky game they are playing by dividing America on race, gender and class could have harmful and even history-altering ramifications for the great “melting pot” of America.
In the face of these threats and assaults on our Liberty from America’s ruling elites, Tea Party Patriots have stood firm for our core values: fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free markets. Our values, and our strength in numbers, brought the largest turnover in Congress in decades, stopped the Wisconsin recalls, educated our fellow citizens that the affordable health care act was anything but affordable, increased awareness and understanding of the Constitution across America, and stopped cap and trade.
But our work is not done. Now, more than ever, we must stand up and save our country – before it’s too late. Don’t look to the White House, or to Congress, or to the Senate or the Supreme Court. Look in the mirror. It’s up to you. Because you, me, and everyone in the Tea Party Patriots – we are the last people left standing for our country.
The price of Liberty is eternal vigilance. Your eternal vigilance. Your country needs you now.
Here is what you must do, to save our country, starting right now:
1. Congressmen are going home on vacation to celebrate our Independence. How ironic and sad that week from Independence Day the Supreme Court got it wrong and upheld the biggest government takeover in America’s history. Nevertheless, the Congressmen – Representatives and Senators – will be home over the next 10 days.
2. We need you to call their offices and find out every parade, town hall, civic speaking engagement they plan to attend. If the Congressional office won’t tell you, call the campaign office to get the information. We know the so-called “representatives” love a good photo op on the Fourth of July. They will not be able to help themselves and will gravitate towards cameras and microphones.
3. Let us know where they are going to be so that others in your area can join you to show up everywhere they are over the next 10 days.
4. Find the candidates running against incumbents to let us know where they are as well.
5. When you see them, ask them 2 questions ON VIDEO:
a. “If elected will you repeal government-controlled health care in full in early 2013 so that the taxes increases are not implemented and we maintain control of our doctor-patient decisions?”
b. “If elected will you vote to balance our budget in 5 years without raising taxes and actually have the fortitude to stick to the budgeted spending?”
6. Upload the answers to YouTube and send us a link.
7. Tea Party Patriots will work to compile the results in a scorecard that links to the videos. We cannot create such a scorecard without your help and without every one of us working together to make it happen. We MUST first get the candidates on the record for meeting our demands so that we can hold them accountable beginning on election night.
8. Once they are on the record, we can inform and educate our fellow voters why these legislative goals must be accomplished. Immediately following the elections we will use these promises to hold our elected officials accountable. We did not completely understand how quickly the freshmen could stray in 2011. We do now and we will not let that happen in 2013. It starts with knowing where they stand, what they promise.

Before you get started Louis, a couple of things.
1. The political philosopher’s name you mention, well, ahem, his first name was spelled “Karl” and not “Carl.”
2. Karl Marx invented a political philosophy called “Marxism.” He did not invent Fascism and he was not a Fascist. That came later and was invented by your political antecedant, Benito Mussolini’s Fascist Party in Italy. Italy, along with Nazi Germany and Japan, was one of our enemies during World War II. Did you know that?
P.S., our president Barack “Hussein” Obama is not a Fascist. He is not a Marxist. And he is not an Islamist. He is a Christian and a member of the Democratic Party. He governs as a center-right president, much like Bill Clinton.
Teaswiller, as an economic system fascism is characterized by the state exerting tight control over ostensibly private industries. The Obama administration’s attempts to take over the health care industry and, to a lesser extent, Detroit’s manufacturing sector are exactly this sort of thing. Christian and Democrat or not, his policies are economically fascist. If you’re going to resort to petifoggery, at least do it right.
For once and for all, Obama the Affordable Care Act is not “taking over the American health care industry.” If anything, it is a boon to the industry, by requiring everybody to purchase insurance. If it was up to me we wouldn’t rely on a Republican-devised half-assed measure such as this, but rather adopt a single payer system. Also, rescuing Detroit was one of the smartest things Obama did. How is that Fascist?
Finally, you forgot the political dimension of Fascism, which actually sounds as if it came straight from the Tea Party/Birther clique. Fascists seek elevation of their nation based on commitment to an organic national community where its individuals are united together as one people in national identity by connections of ancestry and culture through a totalitarian state that seeks to eradicate perceived foreign influences that are deemed to be causing degeneration of the nation or of not fitting into the national culture.
If anyone is Fascist, it is the Tea Party.
The only thing you got right is that BO is a member of the Democratic party. Everything else is to be determined, and Clinton like the rest of the Democratic party only believes in WIIFM. And while you are cutting hairs…. The end result of what Marx, Lennin Stalin and all the other so called critical thinkers were was genocide. History does tell a gruesome tale, so before this country gets to anything Marx, common sense has to prevail and the current party has to go.
This is taxation without representation in it’s truest form. There is a passage in the Declaration Of Independence that states when the government takes too much power it is the responsibility of every citizen to overthrow said government and replace it with a government that will do the people’s will. Brian, how can the Affordable Care Act be “taxation without representation” when it was passed by a majority of both houses of Congress?
I think you are worrying about things that the Affordable Care Act doesn’t actually do, and you may not be aware of what it will do.

But remember:
1. The law doesn’t change the fact that you receive care from a private physician. Bottom line: the law is built on our current system of employer-based health insurance, private insurers, and private healthcare providers. You won’t be purchasing healthcare from the government.
2. If you currently purchase insurance from a private insurer through your employer, that is not likely to change. Most employers will still offer insurance, and more employers will have incentives to offer it if they don’t currently do so, because tax credits are available to small business owners to make this a more affordable option.
3. Insurers will no longer be able to refuse coverage to people with preexisting conditions or end coverage for policyholders whose illnesses make them very expensive to insure.
4. Young people can stay on their parents’ insurance until age 26.
5. Prescription drug benefits for seniors will be more affordable, since $250 rebate checks were issued in 2010 to bridge the “doughnut hole,” and in 2011, seniors began getting a 50% discount on name-brand prescription drugs. By 2020, the government will pay to provide up to a 75% discount on brand-name and generica prescription drugs.
5. The penalty for not purchasing health insurance will go into effect in 2014, but it will only apply to people who can afford to purchase it and decide they don’t want to. 6. Families earning between $33,075 and $88,200 for a family of four would qualify for a sliding scale of subsidies to purchase insurance.

These statewide exchanges will also expand the risk pool for people in the individual market, so this, plus the competition of the marketplace, should lower the cost of what has been an incredibly expensive insurance marketplace for individual policyholders who can’t access the advantages available to people purchasing insurance through employers.
8. With some insurance plans, preventive care is now free, while for others that were grandfathered under the ACA, those benefits will begin in 2014. I hope you’ll actually take a look at some of these resources and that if you do, you’ll feel better about the Affordable Care Act and the fact that it is not only the law, it has been confirmed to be constitutional by the highest court in the land.

Breezed over some of the rhetoric of the link you provided and have to say there is MUCH to be read between the lines… It appears nothing has changed about insurance companies being able to sell across borders and the restrictions the act can put on providers is paramount to anti-business (more control, control, control).
In addition, there is nothing in the http://www.healthcare.gov/law/timeline/ government sponsored information about who is going to pay for this. And did you forget the home sale tax and the hook for the government to snag your 401k (only if they need it, but since when did a democratic run government not enjoy other peoples money, especially when they can legally steal it from you)? I thought so.
In addition, why has your government exempted themselves from the program as well as some of the unions, if not all?
There is much to be said about this outlandish program and your government is not saying it.
My advice to all who read this is to demand that no one be exempted from its claws or get it repealed, or better yet, Vote them all out November 2012!

As a disabled vet who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution, I can think of no more fitting time than when all branches of government have failed to follow their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution. I believe most people that have guns purchase them to protect their family. They obviously have much more “foresight” than you. We can see the handwriting on the wall. With all due respect, you should wake up and smell the coffee. In 1933 Hitler got the Reischtag to pass a law giving him absolute power. We are not there yet, but the Obamacare ruling set the precedent that the government can in essence do anything it wants, including confiscating your property, and by calling this a “tax” instead of a penalty you have no recourse and have just lost your right to equal protection, your protection against unreasonable search and seizure, your right to due process, and other rights because they do not constitutionally apply to taxes. The ruling also said, in effect, that, then government can “tax” whatever it wants, wherever and whenever it wants, in whatever amount it wants, at any and all times. This is a seminal event inAmerican history and if allowed to stand is the end of the Constitution. Don’t take my word for it. Search the web and see what constitutional scholars, lawyers and judges are saying.
We cannot afford to bury our heads in the sand and think that “it will all work out”. It won’t unless we act now, act strongly, and stand up for our rights and our liberty.

Well, actually, John Gregory, the government can only impose taxes that Congress passes by a majority vote. The same goes for tax breaks (like the Bush tax cuts, which I don’t support), wars (funded or unfunded), and many other uses of our tax dollars that you and I don’t agree with.

Roger: the healthcare law doesn’t add taxes to the middle class, working poor, or poor, and it provides a sliding scale of credits and subsidies to make the purchase of health insurance, co-pays, and deductibles more affordable for families (of 4) earning between $33,075 and $88,200. Under the Affordable Care Act:
- Households below 150 percent of the poverty level ($33,075) would pay 2 percent to 4 percent of their income on premiums. Health plans would cover 94 percent of the cost of benefits.
- Families earning between $77,175 to $88,200 for a family of four would pay 9.8 percent of their income on premiums. Health plans would cover 70 percent of the cost of the benefits.
- People earning below the poverty level are exempt from the mandate to purchase health insurance.
- Other than the penalties for people who can afford insurance but decide not to purchase it (see what they are here, in the “Reconciliation” column: http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2010/03/19/us/politics/20100319-health-care-reconciliation.html?ref=healthcarereform#tab=0), the only taxes on individuals to support the bill are
1. an increased Medicare payroll tax on unearned income like dividends, interest, and capital gains for households earning more than $250,000 a year; and
2. an excise tax on very expensive, cadillac health insurance policies (ones with premiums of over $10,000 for individuals and $27,500 for families). This would begin in 2018, and as you can see, it isn’t going to affect low and middle-income earners.

Monica, 1% will pay the tax fine. (fact). Most of the other new taxes are for businesses who will receive subsidies. Even if I do pay a little more in taxes, I will. Taxes are at an all time low (fact) and I care for my fellow Americans and my country. I am a true American patriot. We are still the richest country in the world. It is sad that the tea party wants to use government perks like maybe the state park you are celebrating in this week but you don’t want to pay for it. You want to benefit from
government funded medical research but you don’t want to pay for it. That is called free loading. I would prefer that my tax money never went to wars based on lies (Iraq=1 trillion dollars) but I have little choice except to keep a close eye on the neocons and protest.

If you’re a small business owner, you might be interested in what the Affordable Care Act offers you, including a tax credit to offset the cost of providing healthcare to your employees. You would qualify if you have fewer than 25 full-time employees earning an average of less than $50,000 a year and you pay at least 50% of the cost of providing them with “single” health insurance.

I am an American, I believe in God, I believe God granted us the right to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness. God gave those rights, only God can take them away. If we as Americans continue down this path, and continue this moral decay, I do believe God will turn his back on us as a Nation and our rights will be removed. I pray for America and the World everyday. They have removed the 10 commandments because they do not want us to think about them. Separation of church in state is not in our constitution. All our founding fathers wanted to do was keep the state out of the church.This nation is going under because we have left our roots, our Christian heritage. The Bible says that a nation who honors God is blessed.
I believe the exact words of the “establishment clause” of the First Amendment are “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”
It means that we do not have an established, state religion.

Congress proclaimed days of fasting and of thanksgiving annually throughout the Revolutionary War. This proclamation by Congress set May 17, 1776, as a “day of Humiliation, Fasting and Prayer” throughout the colonies. “Separation of church and state” (sometimes “wall of separation between church and state”) is a phrase used by Thomas Jefferson (in his 1802 letter to the Danbury Baptists) and others expressing an understanding of the intent and function of the Establishment Clause and Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The phrase has since been repeatedly cited by the Supreme Court of the United States.

United States (1879) the Court wrote that Jefferson’s comments “may be accepted almost as an authoritative declaration of the scope and effect of the [First] Amendment.” In Everson v. Board of Education (1947), Justice Hugo Black wrote: “In the words of Thomas Jefferson, the clause against establishment of religion by law was intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state.”[2]
However, the Court has not always interpreted the constitutional principle as absolute, and the proper extent of separation between government and religion in the U.S. remains an ongoing subject of impassioned debate.

I just read an interesting historical commentary that is just in time for Independence Day, and I thought Tea Party Patriots might find it interesting too, because it’s about the Founding Fathers.
“The founding fathers, it turns out, passed several mandates of their own. In 1790, the very first Congress—which incidentally included 20 framers—passed a law that included a mandate: namely, a requirement that ship owners buy medical insurance for their seamen. This law was then signed by another framer: President George Washington. That’s right, the father of our country had no difficulty imposing a health insurance mandate.
That’s not all. In 1792, a Congress with 17 framers passed another statute that required all able-bodied men to buy firearms. Yes, we used to have not only a right to bear arms, but a federal duty to buy them. Four framers voted against this bill, but the others did not, and it was also signed by Washington. Some tried to repeal this gun purchase mandate on the grounds it was too onerous, but only one framer voted to repeal it.
Six years later, in 1798, Congress addressed the problem that the employer mandate to buy medical insurance for seamen covered drugs and physician services but not hospital stays. And you know what this Congress, with five framers serving in it, did? It enacted a federal law requiring the seamen to buy hospital insurance for themselves. That’s right, Congress enacted an individual mandate requiring the purchase of health insurance. And this act was signed by another founder, President John Adams.
Not only did most framers support these federal mandates to buy firearms and health insurance, but there is no evidence that any of the few framers who voted against these mandates ever objected on constitutional grounds. Presumably one would have done so if there was some unstated original understanding that such federal mandates were unconstitutional. Moreover, no one thought these past purchase mandates were problematic enough to challenge legally.”
