Dear Congress: You Have a Spending Problem, Not Revenue Problem
June 11, 2012 at 7:35 pm in Accountability, Max S. Baucus, News, Uncategorized by Tea Party Patriots 13 Comments

Remember when Congress did not want to make the tough spending decisions and created the so-called “Super-Committee?” Well, when that failed, spending limits were put in place that were agreed to in Budget Control Act of 2011.
Senator Max Baucus, who was a member of the failed “Super-Commmittee” just doesn’t seem to understand that Congress has a spending problem. Senator Baucus has served on President Obama’s Debt Commission, the Super Committee and is Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, yet he seems incapable of doing what most American’s do when we are faced with tough budget decisions – cut spending.
In fact, just a few weeks ago, Senator Baucus joined 61 other Senators in voting to increase federal spending beyond the spending limits agreed to in the Budget Control Act of 2011. This action to violate the Spending Limits in the Budget Control Act of 2011, landed Senator Baucus, and his 61 collegues on the Tea Party Patriots Most Irresponsible list.
And now Senator Baucus has a new proposal. He is concerned that the Government is Spending Trillions more than it takes in every year. And can you guess what his solution is?
Does he want the Senate to finally pass a budget (which they have not done in over 3 years) and have a debate on spending priorities? Does he want to actually cut spending? No, he thinks has a better solution – increase government revenue by raising taxes.
It is time for Senator Baucus and other Members of Congress to learn that Congress has a spending problem, not a revenue problem.

I totally agree!!! You get trillions in tax dollars to spend. And while I know that some you have to spend bo matter what
But some of it is just a case of You wanting things for your home states and not the good ot the USA/
Trying thing about the whole of the sates needs.
Wake up America and become the United States once again … let’s stop the bickering, get down roll up our sleeves and solve the real issues. Stop sending our hard EARNED TAX DOLLAR$ around the world and tighten our US Governments belt.
Because the US tax paying citizens have already curtailed, postponed, and tightened their belts.
Loosen the constraints on the EPA, US Forest Service and BLM, use them as national treasures and not hands off museums. To get the United States back strong with a strengthened GPD our natural resources need to be available; Oil, Natural Gas, Coal, Timber, Mining (Iron, Gold, Silver, and other needed precious metals & minerals). Governmental policies have strangled the growth of the USA through the ill conceived green energy plan. Green energy must be pulled and never pushed to be sucessfull.
Green energy is the future. Get on board or get out of the way. Oil is killing YOUR children’s planet. We have a spending problem but that problem is not with the average Joe it is with Exxon Mobil, BP, Halliburton, and derivatives on Wall Street. We can meet our obligations If we simply end the two unfunded wars and end the ridiculous tax cuts for those who don’t need them. Simply enforce the laws we have. I don’t want some mope sucking up tax dollars to sit on their rumps (welfare junkies) same as I dont want some fat cat wall street crook getting another tax break for being a “job creator” (they create weapons of mass destruction that we the tax payer clean up). STOP WASTE. START OUR ECONOMY.
I agree with you on this Ryon. We should not endanger our children’s environment needlessly prolonging our addiction to fossil fuels. Green energy solutions can bring new jobs as well or better than expanding fossil fuel production, and help ensure the environment of the planet. With regards to unnecessary spending, In addition to the oil subsidies we need to reduce military defense spending, not having to defend foreign oil fields and transportation routes will help with that also. The 800 pound gorilla in the room is the Federal Reserve Banking monetary system requiring the creation of National debt to expand the monetary base. As the economy grows the money supply must grow but the way to do this is a process termed seigniorage. Government created money based on economic requirements without debt. Granted one has to have a government capable of doing it properly. Congress is slated with the responsibility according to the Constitution, but, if the Congress is corrupted they will need over-site and anti-corrupting policies.
Its up to the American people to vote out those who refuse to cut spending & help find principled Constitutionalists to take their place. Time for the theft of our & our children’s future to stop. Gov Walker can do it, so can the other 49 states.
The system is corrupt, voting in new bums changes nothing.
The corrupt system was written by both major parties to keep Mr and Ms ordinary out. For example, in most states an Independent must collect 10 times more signatures that R or D candidates.
Corrupt is hardly harsh enough more like Mafia of Elites or OLIGARCHY……….
why are we surprised that the Super Committee was not going to get anything accomplished? It was never meant to. These Senators and Congressmen can only do one thing. Spend. Out of control spending. As mentioned above, we must get involved in the campaign of those senators who will cooperate with us. In other words, get Tea Party type candidates elected to office on the local and state level, which will then naturally lead to TP poltiicians to the Federal level.
Since we have actually started this process with such incredible success in the 2010 midterms and now with the removal of those Liberal Democratic Senators and moderate Republicans (Luger, B. Nelson, Snowe, and soon Hatch) This is resounding examples that are screaming to the politician world that the majority in this nation are those that want this out of control spending to stop.
The Presidential campaign knows that they cannot avoid the upcoming Debt Ceiling being reached and becoming a politic campaign issue again. They so wanted this to happen in 2013, but they cannot stop spending. It will be the number one issue facing the nation, as it is also the greatest national security threat as well.
sorry, get upset over the #1 founding reason for the Tea Party Movement. (the other reason is the GOP Establishment moving the Republican Party further and further to the left.)
You are so right! You guys get it! Now we have to tell the world because the world is in trouble and the best way to do this is to follow NebraskaTPP’s excellent advice and send TPP-type politicians to do the people’s work in the USA. We should be setting an example of freedom and fiscal restraint for the world to follow.
From http://www.calvin-coolidge.org Quotations:
WASHINGTON
“It is necessary to watch people in Washington all the time to keep them from unnecessary expenditure of money. They have all lived off the national Government so long in that city that they are inclined to regard any sort of employment as a Christmas tree, and if we are not careful, they will run up a big expense bill on us.”
The Real Calvin Coolidge p. 136
We have a spending problem, a revenue problem and most of all a representation problem. We along with the rest of the globe are operating in a monetary system that is built upon the ignorance of our heritage and in utilizing debt to create money, the life blood of the economy, are steering the world toward disaster and enslavement. Carefully determined Seigniorage is what we need now, in a big way. An FDR type war on joblessness, including private enterprise as much as seems appropriate. Man creates the market, the market does not create mankind.
Repeal Representation
Randy Newman
As we get passed the rules and regualtions that continually stand in the way of individual freedom and free markets again, I see only one way to change it.
Repeal representation is it, we have gone beyond the days of lawyers making laws the time has arrived for ordinary men to repeal laws that clutter our everyday lives and impede our ability to succeed in the free market.
Government at all levels has with time taken freedom. The larger the government the smaller the individual.
For example:
The Constituion required one representative for every 30,000 population.
In 1913 the 66th Congress froze the size of the house at 435, creating an Oligarchy.
(a class of persons to rule the masses)
That same Congress formed the Federal Reserve,
putting private bankers in charge of our monetary system.
That same Congress enacted the IRS, Amendment 16
made Senators federal instead of state, Amendment 17
OUR ONLY RECOURSE
It is our responsibility to elect new Representatives at all levels to repeal laws
not make them.
Rules and regualtions from all levels of government continue to strangle our freedoms.
Repealing laws will,
Stop government growth
Lower Taxes
Return to Free Markets
Enchance Individual Freedom
We must break the cycle of reelection
replace politicians with
ordinary men and women that demand
people first and government last.
Each and every candidate should be of the mindset that repealing is required
by the voter. That failing to repeal causes repeal of the candidate.
The Oath of Office is not a standard anymore, it requires alligence to the party
NOT THE PEOPLE.
Election Laws
Are written by
The two major parties
Neither is prepared to accept a challenge
from independent voters
both spend millions to sway independent voters
NATIONWIDE
The two major parties total are less than 30% of the voters.
How can the independent voter let 30 % make rules about his or her life, liberty and pursuit of happiness.
The Founding Fathers warned
that political parties would lead to larger government
and less freedom.
Our goal is simple
Smaller Government
cost less equals Lower Taxes
Less Regulation equals Free markets
all this adds up to more
Individual Freedoms.
That sounds a great deal like
The Constitution Of The United States
True Tax Reform would force the federal government to control spending. The Fair Tax, the consumption tax on only new goods and services, is the ONLY tax that allows employees to take home 100% of their paychecks, collects from every citizen, every illegal alien, every visitor to the US and every un-captured criminal in the US, drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes, theives, etc…. and it only sends the rebate (200 to 450 per month, an amount estimated to be spent on tax on necessities) to legal, permanent residents of the US. The 16th amendment would be abolished so we would not ever encounter TWO taxes from the government; no more federal taxes on accommodations, goods and services such as utilities, phone, etc.. Not only does this increase income to the government (Americans spend almost 2X as much on new goods and services as they report in net income each year – the figure that taxes are collected on. The amount of tax paid in 2010 on net income, for example was 13+% of the gross reported income. Two times that was spent on new goods and services, which would have collected 28% at the counter. Second hand or resale goods, homes, cars, etc… would have no tax. And, those who can afford it would be those who would be paying it, but it would be for something they wanted and paid for with the money they earned. The best of all!!! There would be NO MORE IRS!!! No more tax returns, no more IRS agents – and that would be a huge savings to the government payroll. With the increased income and reduced savings – we could begin to reduce the debt significantly. But the most significant effect, would be the reduction in the cost of living. The wealthy will initially pay this additional cost, and the lower and middle income families will be able to afford it with the additional income from 100% paychecks and the rebate. But sales will eventually begin to slow down, and the price wars will begin. The price of a new car, new clothes or a new home will once again be within reach and maybe America will realize that everytime we raise the minimum wage, the cost of living also goes up. The Fair Tax eliminates tax on manufacturing, corporations, etc, which would simultaneously bring our industry home and the upper middle income paying jobs, which is what America has lost by trying to tax away its profits. The bill has been in the House for God knows how long. Please, study the Fair Tax and demand that Congress pass it!!!!! It is a brilliant plan and the only true tax reform that benefits all Americans and secures our economy by setting a tax rate that cannot be changed. Congress must stay within its budget, which is totally dependent on the economy and the financial fluidity of Americans and supports American manufacturing, a gift to the whole world.
