There they go again: Mainstream media continues to not get the Tea Party!

It’s truly one extreme to another with the mainstream media – they cannot understand a movement of people who are not trying to get something from the government, and are not structured top-down like most interest-groups and many political parties.
For months they have been writing us off – as the Washington cartoon below aptly illustrates: (Lisa Benson, 5/10/2012; http://townhall.com/political-cartoons/2012/05/10/99134)
But we have not been dying, we’ve been organizing; when Senator Lugar lost, the continued increasing strength of the tea party became obvious causing the media to the opposite extreme. Now they are calling us “Establishment” in stories like this one from ABCNEWS: http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/OTUS/meet-gop-establishment-tea-party/story?id=16314836#.T6vPrMRYvBF.
After the big push of 2010 to re-introduce the longstanding values of Fiscal Responsibility, Limited Government and Free Markets to our representatives in DC, it did not take the tea party long to figure out that even if the majority in the House is willing to stand tall on all our issues, (which they sadly are not), 1/3 of the government is not enough to turn the Ship of State from rapidly steaming leftward to anything resembling where we want to go, which would be straight ahead, “steady as she goes”.
The problem with the media is deeper than bias, but bias is a part of it. Once they have the “narrative” they want to spin out, they lose all interest in countervailing facts.
To help correct some of these media-generated misperceptions, Jenny Beth Martin has an article on Breitbart today in which she tries to help the media understand what we are doing. As she puts it, the tea party is not just alive but most important, it is “organized to fight and win.”

Anyone checking our websites, talking to our members or asking elected officials if they continue to hear from the tea party, could have told the MSM reporters that, indeed, the wonderful or horrible tea party activists, depending on your point of view, are indeed alive and kicking! (But that would involve research and worse, risk messing up a favored “narrative”.)

I have been a small business owner for 25 years. I’ve been through many, many cycles in the economy and I am an S corp, and I can tell you that even if my taxes were at zero percent it would not encourage me to expand or hire, what I need is a store full of working people with money to spend on my products. The only thing that will trickle down is stimulus spending on infrastructure, that would spread like wildfire
During the Democratic Convention, “why not highlight Charlottes business losses during the last 2 years with Tea Party members holding signs saying ” Welcome to Obama Land” ? ie Independence Avenue. No business — No jobs OR this business lost in 2011…Have a weekend consciensness raising event all across the town. Take a look at Independence Avenue on corners such as Independence and Rama where a bank , Mcdonalds, an auto dealer, an ethnic supermarket leave a devastating scene. Such a day would show the economy under President Obama. James D Lundin age 70

Mainstream media does get the Tea Party. They get it all too well. They’ve spent dec-
ades working to remake America into the vision they have for it. Which is a very socialist dominated society at the very least. They believe in it . . . 100%. They’ve no use for the founding father’s and the principles they founded this country on. So they lie about them and try to make them over into something other than what they really were. Now along comes the Tea Party movement with smart, well-educated people who know better, and are working tirelessly to set the record straight and return America to it’s roots – as the founders intended her to be. Mainstream media knows this and they hate it – with every fiber of their being they hate it. This is why they’re working overtime to try to discredit and
destroy the Tea Party by whatever ‘journalistic’ means possible. But so far they’re losing the war. They’re losing ground in their TV news ratings. They’re losing ground in their
national news magazines. They’re losing ground in their national and local newspapers.
Their beginning to lose ground in the educational system. They will eventually lose ground in the courtrooms and in the government. They’re going to see the ACLU and Planned Parenthood and all their other prized insidious institutions disappear. And they know it. You bet they understand the Tea Party movement. They understand it plenty. And they fear it. And they hate it. Tea Party Patriots keep up the excellent work. You’re winning. You’re winning big-time.

It must seem like everything that you thought you could rely upon; the steadfastness of our system of limited constitutional government, the willingness of those we elect to debate, compromise, and deliberate in the best interests of this country, and the certainty that those hard won liberties which many in this room fought to preserve, all seem to be under threat. But this is the reality of America in the year 2012.
At a time of massive job losses, a crumbling economy and an off the rails financial sector, those we elected and sent to Washington to address this country’s problems, decided not to work together but to obstruct one another and play a sad but all too often seen game that places the platitudes of party above that of service to country.
A great compromise allowed those assembled in Philadelphia, to leave there with a constituion that could be ratified by enough states to bring this great republic into being. The problems they faced were daunting, but good men can always summon the goodwill, and the good sense to do good, and they did, and the American Republic was born.

Is there a group in Wmspt, Pa.? here does not seem to be anything happening.
I would think there would be some activity on getting started.
