Dysfunctional U.S. Senate Fails to Pass a Budget in More than Three Years
The Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest tea party organization, today blasted the U.S. Senate for not passing a budget, a constitutionally directed task, in more than three years.
“In the latest display of Washington’s dysfunction, five budgets were presented this week and all went down, with not a single member of the controlling party voting for President Obama’s version,” said Jenny Beth Martin, Co-Founder and National Coordinator of Tea Party Patriots. “People who don’t do their job should be fired. For more than three years the Senate has failed to do its job.
“The Senate works for the American people. We will continue the call for the ouster of any Senator who does not prove they are trying to do everything in their power to right the economic ship. If the Senate fails to do its job, they should lose their job.”

Excellent: “The Tea Party Patriots, the nation’s largest tea party organization, today blasted the U.S. Senate for not passing a budget, a constitutionally directed task, in more than three years.” I will spread that statement around. Thank you.
Do not vote in Elizabeth Warren – she is of the Obama cloth
find another one aside from S Brown or E Warren in Mass.
check out your candidates extremely carefully – there likely could be wolves in sheeps clothing!
Every one of them needs to go.
And what do you propose we replace them with? Seems no matter how many we replace, the replacements fall into the same habits their predecessors had. Maybe what we need to replace are career politicians. Lets make congress a part time job. Send congressmen and women home for 6 months out of the year. Make them work for a living like the average American.2 Terms and you are done, no exceptions.Let them be what they are supposed to be, citizen legislators.
I agree that it seems our representatives in both houses have lost sight of their purpose and the govt started out the way you have proposed but then it was voluntary no pay…we could not expect that now.
I would go along with a much reduced salary, a much reduced staff and the banning of lobbyists totally, more auditing of them, no more ridiculous studies for an ungodly amount of pay, no expert is worth $800,000 for a few weeks work. A civilian oversight commitee perhaps to watch the GSA etc….more reasonably priced sites for their get togethers , not these expensive tourist traps like Vegas or Hawaii…there are many sites as large and accomodating..they are there to work not party…unrestrained spending should be dealt with harshly, its not their money and gives the impression of corruption that the whole world sees.
Why are we so willing to accept the status quoe? We can’t have a citizen legislature because we don’t have the stones to demand one. We’re not willing to suffer a little discomfort now to avoid all out collapse later. Lets enforce the term limits we voted for. When we remove career politicians, the influence of lobbyists will be reduced as well. If we send legislators home for half the year, and they have to look their constituents in the eyes, the chance that they will sell them out is greatly reduced.
We can’t do it all in one election, but we can do one election at a time.
replace as many as often as possible. once you sort through the trash your bound to find something good. Hey Orrin Hatch I hope you have a retirement plan. If I have my way…. Your FIRED! You have been in too long and it has clouded your Judgement. Hero to ZERO. I hope by some chance he sees this. Yes it is Personal my liberties will no longer be in your hands dope.
It would be a shame to vote out a person who had actually voted…we need a list of those up for re-election that have not even voted one way or the other, or who have voted against a budget… you cannot punish the innocent(term used loosely) for the failure of the guilty
Vivian,
The problem that we have is that we’ve been duped. Even if we have a “budget”, it’s just a pile of paper with words on them. They might as well vote in the Webster’s dictionary and call it a budget. A real budget requires that you account for revenues in the period in which they are received. And for every credit, there is an offsetting debit. This is what is required of every publicly traded company in America. If a business wants to borrow money to expand, they have to show the lender their balance sheets, income statements and retained earnings statements. The federal government doesn’t even operate on this kind of accounting system. So to have a budget when you have a cash based accounting system that allows you to hold revenues from one accounting period until the next and apply them to any account you choose, there is no accountability, no way to determine what money went where. Until we demand that the government operate the same way the government demands that businesses operate, having a budget is futile.
Term Limits is the only answer to have democracy (Republic) that works. Our fore-fathers were scared of the two party system. I believe 1 term for President, 2 terms for Senators and 5 max for the Representatives. Prior we had term limits because people died now people are living much longer. When the incumbents have a 94% re-election number which we have now it becomes a problem. We need the states to ratify the Constitution.
These SENATOR failures must be replaced they have played for 4 years, Government is a joke and the United States taxpayers want changes in Senate Seats….DUMP THE DEADWOOD…HOW MUCH HAVE THEY WASTED…OBAMACARE IS THE LAUGHING JOKE OF ALL TIMES, THESE CONGRESSMEN HAVE A CROOK AS A PRESIDENT TO DEAL WITH…WHEN THEY HANG OBAMA THERE SHOULD BE 299 MORE NECKS TO STRETCH….THIS HAS BEEN A FAILED COO de TA..HEY CONGRESS CALL A SPADE A SPADE….OBAMA AND HIS CHEATING DOCUMENTS ARE SINFULL..STUPID CONGRESS
Come on folks, tell us what you really think!
I think there are some very good ideas here! Thank you to all who commented.
And the answer to the question about what to cut is this: “We aren’t against all spending, just over-spending.”
