Holder in Contempt over Fast and Furious?

House leaders confirmed on May 3, 2012, they have drafted a contempt order against Holder for his refusal to produce to Congress documents requested in the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal. “We have a few other options (but) to a great extent we’ve been stonewalled by the Justice Department,” said Issa, R-CA. The US Department of Justice (DOJ) is the executive department of the federal government responsible for the enforcement of the law and administration of justice. How is justice administered when the head of that department, Attorney General Eric H. Holder, Jr., is found in contempt of the laws it exists to enforce?
The resolution, if approved by the House, could force Holder to release thousands of pages of documents related to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives’ Fast & Furious program. The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee has requested 80,000 documents and been provided with only 7,000 to date, according to Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah. ““We have issued a subpoena. We have bent over backward to be patient.”
Since last August Senator John Cornyn, R-TX, has been outspoken about his concern that the DOJ knew that guns were sold illegally to members of Mexican drug cartels which resulted in the death of U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Terry. “I don’t think we know all the facts because the DOJ has stonewalled. They simply need to come clean. If Holder is implicated, let’s hold him accountable,” Sen. Cornyn said. Cornyn was adamant that Holder be held accountable for his department’s actions and not be allowed to continue to block access to documents critical to the investigation into the mishandled gun-tracking program.
According to the House Oversight Committee, the Justice Department has not fully cooperated with the investigation into gunwalking that occurred in Operation Fast and Furious. Although some documents have been produced, Holder has maintained a pattern of denial or non-responsiveness to Congress in the Fast and Furious matter. He has yet to admit to perjury or prove otherwise by producing the documents.
It remains to be seen whether House Oversight Committee members will cite Holder for contempt. Attorney General Holder owes it to the American people to provide full disclosure of his knowledge and involvement in the failed program, but it could literally take an act of Congress to make that happen.

If that were an ordinary citizen, they would have been arrested and put in jail. Why is he still in office? Eric Holder has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is like everyone appointed by President Obama, a complete and total failure. When the leader of our Country continues to lie and tell half truths, what do we expect from his staff? This is ridiculous and very dis-honorable. We hold ourselves to a higher level than that. If he is claiming national security..call in our people embeded undercover in Mexico or at least warn them then IMPEACH Holder, that removes the protections of his office, and puts him in a more vulnerable position and more willing to co-operate…It will also flush out others who will be looking for protections as a result of working under the impression that there’s a different set of rules for them…and maybe we can find out the truth about Obama while we’re at it
The Attorney General’s actions are a direct reflection of the entire Obama Administration’s total contempt for the rule of law. Holder should not only be held in Contempt he should be charged with Perjury and prosecuted for that crime.
OK…before Holder gives up and reveals under cover tactics to a all the criminals south of the border, lets first see Oliver North come clean on trading guns to the Nicaraguan Contras…seem that I remember Reagan getting away with a cover up…but what did Holder really do that was so wrong, Ireland… ? When people say that someone like Holder does not care about the rule of LAW, then whom ever makes that kind of claim must be an absolute retard or is hell bent on finding anything the complain about in the current election cycle… The basic point of all this is that the Mexican cartels already have hundreds of thousands of guns and the fact that people died because of a botched undercover operation does not imply that the deaths would not have happened anyway.

Your attempt at logic falls somewhere below sea level on this topic. The gun used to kill American Brian Terry was passed to criminal elements by the American Government. It is purely intelligent to conclude that this death would NOT have happened without THAT gun. Furthermore, this forceful element of truth extends to all those Mexicans that were also killed by guns passed to criminals by our Government. To suggest otherwise is to deny reality. This is thought process 101. Get your head out man!

Holder should not only be held in contempt, He should be held accountable for the death of Brian Kelly and others that died over his actions.

Thats right, as long as some republican did it at some point, that means it ok, and he doesn’t need to be held accountable. You people are insane, and the reason our country is doomed. With your theories, we will never be able to right anything. How about we start wherever we can to right wrongs, and not worry where the same crimes were committed in the past. Start with holding this crook responsible, end discrimination, (all of it, not just turn it around the other way), and make term limits for the rest of the crooks in office.

You got it right. Accountability like justice, should be blind to all but the truth in the law. This pervasive attitude of relativism buries all of us in a living grave. It also gives cover to the ongoing destruction of the Law.
When two years passed and no prosecutions were forthcoming for anyone involved in the financial meltdowns that gave rise to the bailouts, not even a sign that investigation let alone curiosity, was forthcoming from the current Justice Department, I knew then that something was drastically wrong with Justice in the U.S.A..

This Holder character is extremely arrogant. He believes he is untouchable (Old Chicago Way). He believes that he is the law and the power was granted to him by Obama. As long as they remain in power, you are going to get no cooperation. Congress needs to stop fiddling around with him and hold him in contempt. Hold hearings and send his butt to jail. Others in this administration will see this and begin to abandon ship. Do it now!
Well to begin with, Holder should be held in contempt and worse because he is impeding an investigation into an incident that led to an American citizen being killed by guns our own government gave to the drug cartels. Trying to tie this to the Oliver North situation is really apples to oranges, especially when you consider the AG’s very outspoken stance on gun control in America (there is video of him saying he wants to “brainwash” people into thinking guns are bad). As such, this whole operation was a blatant attempt to pass anti-2nd amendment legislature, which failed horribly. I have been in supervisory/management positions before and I can tell you, generally, it doesn’t matter if it was you or your subordinates who did something, you still hold the responsibility of a given situation, good or bad, because you are the one overseeing it. The burden of responsibility still falls on his shoulders whether he knew about it or not, and his constant stonewalling of the investigation does not speak well for him.
Holder should be fired and asked to resign.
Funny how Mr.Holder is getting away little by little due to help from the cronies he works with in the capital of the United States. As a American, i’m finding myself question whether we have a back to not only our own politicians but also to the rest of the world that has a target on us. How does one actually watch the news and sees this guy just make jokes and lies to the house and also to the people and just never mind these actions? It makes me sick to my stomach looking and listening to Mr.Holder! I would like him to resign and also for United States take this pompous pig back to court with his fellow Dems who lie to the people of the United States!
