Fly Old Glory. Fly Her Proudly.

On this Memorial Day weekend, as I stood gazing over a field of flags waving gently in the breeze, my eyes filled with tears as I thought of all those who have lost their lives defending Her. To all the brave men and women who have served or are currently serving to defend our country, I give my thanks.
I wondered how Frances Scott Key must have felt as he penned the words of our National Anthem. Key, a young attorney from Georgetown, had gone out to a British war ship in an attempt to negotiate the release of a good friend of his being held prisoner. Key was able to secure his friends release, but the British told Key and his friend that they could not leave that day as there was going to be an attack on Fort McHenry that night. It would not be safe for them to leave. Young America has been having a rough time under British attack. Most felt that if the British were able to over-take Fort McHenry, the British flag would be flying. He stood on the deck of the ship and watched the British bombardment take place. Throughout the night he struggled to see through the smoke and light of the bombs. Key wondered if our flag would still be flying. It wasn’t until the first rays of daylight that he was able to see the tattered and torn American flag still flying. He wrote the words to what would become our National Anthem.
Contrast this to recent events in America. We have schools that have allowed the Mexican flag to be flown over the American Flag. We have students showing disrespect to the flag by flying it upside down. We see school administrators sending home students who wear American patriotic clothing because they do not want Mexican-American students to be offended. OWS protestors have destroyed and abused our flag and have spoken out against Her.
I don’t believe in being a hyphenated American. I believe you are either an American or you are not. There is only room for one flag to fly in this great country; the flag of the United States of America. I’m asking all American’s to let their voice be heard and stand up in defense of the beautiful symbol of of our country.
Fly Old Glory. Fly Her proudly.

Well said! Couldn’t agree more!
I fell the same way. I served my country in both iraq and afghanistan. Every mourning when thay raised old glory I know exactly what i was fighting for. Thank you.
Those that believe that way….will lose. They will understand one day that those who think that way… are wrong and realize how close they came to destroying it all.
So, basically what your saying is. No American living in a foreign country should not fly the American flag, but instead the country they resides in flag?
Oh my, this seems so clear and yet it seems that Axel completely misses the point. Leah is obviously talking about American schools and American students. I have been a foreigner living in another country and sending my children to that country’s schools. As a guest, I tried to have good manners and expected the same of my children, but Leah is not talking about foreigners living in America. She is talking about American schools which fail to teach patriotism and respect for the flag. They do not teach American history as something to be proud of and real civics has nearly disappeared. Thank you, Leah, for reminding us about the true meaning of Memorial Day. For more on this subject, see Video no. 7 in our Save Wisconsin Save America series.
On this Memorial Day 2012 you have to wonder about the state of our nation a year from now. The prospect of another four years of this president is chilling. Our liberties are hanging by a thread and patriotism has been challenged by liberals and the media.
Today I gratefully thank our military and their families for their sacrifice and service. Thank you for keeping my family safe. God Bless America.
And God bless the patriots who bless America!
Amen Leah~!! I agree with Lynn, you couldn’t have said it better. It sadens me to see the number of Americans that would rather pay no attention to what is going on in our Great Country. It confuses me when people would rather believe main stream media or condemn anyone that stands to defend our Constitution, Flag, or History. America is changing and at a very fast rate. We must educate our children and grandchildren of the events that happened in the forming and developing of America. In WV, they basically are teaching our children to take tests…(to pass the Westest). No wonder we(WV) is at the bottom in education in the nation. I hope you don’t mind…I want to share this Beatiful post. Thank you~!!
I’m not commenting on the blog post because I cannot find /use the “contact us” and the email link to tell the “Tea Party Patriots” just how off message their fund-raising robo-call I just received is.
The female voice after asking if I planned to vote, stated to effedt that this country is a “representative democracy.” WRONG! WRONG! WRONG!
First, stand-up and say the Pledge of Alliance … “and to the Republic for which is stands…” Then just off the top of my head it’s Article 4 Section 4 states something about this being a Republican form of government. In fact the founders feared democracy.
How can the “Tea Party Patriots” be patriots if they can’t even get the form of government we have straight?
To John,
Sorry you could not find any way to contact us. I just checked the contact email and it is working now. But I will go ahead and respond here
Yes, we are a republic. You are completely correct. However, there are various kinds of republics, some with kings, some with aristocrats, etc. The USA is a democratic republic because the people are the sovereign, not a king, not an aristocracy. And the people have chosen, via a basic law, the Constitution, to exercise their sovereignty by electing representatives. That’s where the term “representative democracy” comes from. We have been emphasizing that term because the RECALLS in Wisconsin fly in the face of the “representative” part. If you study the left closely, you will find that they do not really believe in elections. If an election goes against them, they think the world has ended. Those of us who support our Republican form of representative democracy, know that you can’t win every election and so we are willing to work with the winners and try again in the next election. Feel free to respond if this isn’t clear or acceptable and I will try again.
Loved the post! It makes me sad and very scared that in the name of “tolerance” we have begun to let go of respect for our own flag. A dark ay indeed.
OPEN LETTER TO OUR STATE GOVERNORS
I understand you do not want to bite the hand that feeds you. However, when any official of the United States Government violates the Supreme Law of the Land (Article 6 Section 1 clause 2 and Article 6 Section 1 clause 3) that officer also violates the State Constitution, which you have sworn an Oath to uphold, which is presumably equal to the Military Oath to Defend this Nation and its Constitution against all Enemies both Foreign and Domestic. Our Soldiers go to foreign countries to fight battles to protect your State, your office and your job, and when they come home they expect Justice in the Courts, not a Judiciary or an Executive, which treats their Sacrifices with Contempt. It is your responsibility to insist upon an investigation of the wayward and unlawful behavior of the IRS and Federal Government in the State in which you serve. Remember, in the State you are Governor, your Power is Superior to that of the Federal Government and the people of the State expect you to exercise it or turn in the badge of your office. Quit being a Political Prostitute!
Paper Corporations cannot Lawfully bring Criminal charges against any private resident of any State without the charges being brought ex rel on behalf of the Paper Corporation by some Flesh and Blood Agent willing to submit a Sworn Affidavit under penalties of perjury that their claims are True, Correct, Complete, and Not Misleading, the Truth, the Whole Truth, and nothing but the Truth.
The 6th Amendment guarantees the Private person the right to face their accuser on the witness stand and be able to cross-examine their accuser.
As a Governor, please explain how any Private person can cross-examine the United States of America, or any State (A Paper Corporation), for that matter on the witness stand.

I pray ever night that God helps our USA and gets this president out of office so we can at least try to get our country back. If the horrible man who is in the white house now can be removed I really feel God will give us a chance. I have NO idea where these people who may vote for him heads are but I pray that God will exposed this guy for the person that he is and all of America will see he is like his father BAD!!
