Imperial Government: The Food Police Are Here

It is almost the sort of story that is unbelievable. If I told you that government officials took away a preschooler’s turkey sandwich because it was ‘not nutritious’ and replaced it with fried food, you would think it was a made up story.
But unbelievably, and unfortunately, this one is true.
The Carolina Journal reported:
A preschooler at West Hoke Elementary School ate three chicken nuggets for lunch Jan. 30 because the school told her the lunch her mother packed was not nutritious.
The girl’s turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice did not meet U.S. Department of Agriculture guidelines, according to the interpretation of the person who was inspecting all lunch boxes in the More at Four classroom that day.
And not only did the government tell the girl the lunch her mother packed wasn’t good for her, and instead offered her chicken nuggets, but they fined the girl’s mother.
The girl’s mother – who said she wishes to remain anonymous to protect her daughter from retaliation – said she received a note from the school stating that students who did not bring a “healthy lunch” would be offered the missing portions, which could result in a fee from the cafeteria, in her case $1.25.
And what is most concerning is that this sort of imperial act by government may only be the beginning. As Human Events Points out:

The news article did not say the govt took the sandwich away which Randy claims. It said the child brought the sandwich home. Randy please post the facts.

BS?? The story was not from a fake blog – it was reported in a newspaper (though I am not so sure in todays’ media environment, it is difficult to believe anything unless you see/experience it yourself, thanks to the current regime in DC. And, it is you’re – not your!

I have never heard of anything so ridiculous! Fried pink glop formed in nuggets in place of a nutricious sandwich. This is only the latest agency to be given power outside of any oversight by the voting citizens of this country! Take a look at the regulations (read rules made by bureaucrats) . They are available online…at both the federal and state level, these are the rules that govern us and make our businesses so burdened that companies flee to other counties. Still think that everything in this country is “…for the People and by the People…”?
This is rediculous. I I were that mother I’d sue the school for removing my child’s lunch, which by the report here was much more nutritious and filling than the three bits of breaded, fried pre-processed chicken. That, and I’d make sure that I removed my child from that school & put her in one where the lunch attendants weren’t either crooked or totally incompetent.
Isn’t it time that “the people” starting ignoring all of these egregious violations of our Constitutional rights? After all, the administration has no problem ignoring the courts when it suits their purpose. Stand up against tyranny!
Nullification now. Yes, we need to start ignoring these rules. Some will be punished but if we do it on a massive scale the regime will have to either back down or show its true colors and those colors are “TYRANNY!”
I wonder what would have happened if the little girl had an adverse reaction (allergy or food poisoning) due to the switch — would the mother have been blamed, or would the school have taken responsibility?
Take the child out of government run More at Four and keep him/her home. When you turn your children over to the government you accept accept governmental control of your children. Or move to the Free State of South Carolina where freedom still exists.
Pay close attention folks, this is just the beginning if our country elects Obama again. I never did nor will I ever vote for him or someone else that wants to take my rights from me or my children. We need to stand up, band together and get this fool out of office.
This is only the beginning of what we shall find is hidden within healthcare in a wrapper claiming nutritional balance, yet using blatant fried chicken substitute as the answer, being positive that these said chicken nuggets we if the frozen variery and not made from scratch which could be arguably better, yet highly doubtful since the sandwhich was probably deli-fresh and actual real meat and cheese. I remember living on peanut butter & jelly sandwhiches and now that is such an outlawed item containing nut product which so manu kids have reaction to, thats odd in itself these days. WTH is wrong with our over controlling society and young kids are their target this time, next they will be in our homes deciding our grocery lists.
I think chicken nuggets are among the least healthy food ever created.

Why are teachers and parents allowing this to happen? The government employee who did this should have known this act was stepping on all kinds of rights and freedoms–Did he or she even question checking lunches and taking food away from children and making them eat something else? Where is the common sense? This is taking Obamacare way too far and it must be stopped!!
That is horrible! Well they are going to start letting people who get the Direction Card (in the state of Ohio) which is food stamps purchase food from McDonalds! Are you kidding me????!!!!!!!! That isnt nutricious at all! We did actually call McDonalds and confirm this as well!!!!! I can’t believe the school was allowed to do that. I don’t believe school lunches are nutritious. They are also awful tasting. What can parents do about this. It is unbelievable.
Are you kidding me! Since when does any governing agency know what is healthy. Our schools have been handing out substandar food for decades. This school should be fined and held accountable for substandard issuance of something called food. Have you ever read the ingredience in a chicken nugget? Its 100% garbage. If that happened to my child, I would be at school the next day with the SAME meal !
When they tried to take it away I would walk up and give them their ‘nutritious nuggets’ in their face. I would then file a lawsuit. I would find the package the nutritious nuggets came in to check the ingredients.
The head of the lunch program would be informed NOT to EVER do it again ! My next stop is the principals office…
I do believe that we now have an imperial President. As the days go on i see more of his imperial going on by the President in all goverment offices. I do not think he should have the authority to just order this done.
I looked this up, and the school and program totally admit that some child care worker was screwy and it never should have happened. The turkey and cheese sandwich covered three food groups, plus there was a fruit. They also say that the meal wasn’t taken away from her, but after the worker told her “mom didn’t do it right”, of course she ate the nuggets. The program doesn’t allow for removal of a child’s meal, they are just supposed to ADD to it, such as if a parent gave them no fruit or vegetable serving, or a dairy, the school will add a milk and apple, and tell the parent that they needed to add to the meal to balance it. This worker is nuts and has no idea how it’s supposed to work. The story is blown WAY out of proportion.
One point of correction. The law/regulation in this case is a North Carolina state regulation. The only involvement of the federal government is that the North Carolina regulation uses the USDA standard of a healthy lunch (overstepping your charter much, USDA?). This is all contained in the complete Carolina Journal article quoted above.
That said, the fact that the school has someone searching childrens’ lunches to make sure they are compliant with The Rules is astonishing.
Whats worse than then this. Is for good people to stand by and do nothing.
I think it is highly unconstitutional to make children go to school. They fill their heads with commie propaganda. I should have the right to let my kids stay at home instead of learning crap they don’t need.

If it was my daughter, she would be in private school or taught at home. It’s time the Schools spent more time in teaching, rather than running the family home. I would also sue the school for over stepping their bounds. Not that it would do any good.

Far too much legislation, far too much state intervention. Why should any child have certain food types imposed on them? Perhaps Turkey and Cheese was her own choice?
This puts the national anthem of the USA in breach of the trade descriptions act! “The land of the free” What form of freedom does this young girl have in the cafeteria?

That is any true parents first sign to pull your kids out of school and keep them at home. I was home schooled for reasons like this. My children will never step foot inside a public school. Not only did home schooling create better educated children in the case of my sister and I, who both graduated early and went to college but it also made us strong, independent individuals who are not afraid to speak our minds and stand up for what we believe in.
The fact that they were trying to get a preschooler to understand she could consume either doesn’t count. The child is in preschool and I would be pissed if they offered my kid chicken nuggets instead of what I packed her. The government is trying to usurp the rights of parents, not only that but they are giving children rights that they have no business having when they are still under 18. It’s ridiculous what is going on in the world right now.
The Tea Party’s 15 minutes in the spotlight are up. Just stop trying to **** people off now.

When did we, as Americans, relinquish our rights as parents to the schools? Why do these people think it is OK to steal a child’s lunch, claim that the lunch her mother packed is not nutritious, and make her eat cafeteria food and then charge her for the indignation? If the lunch was not returned, did the school reimburse the parents for the lunch? My biggest question is this: Who has given these liberals the green light to trample on our personal freedoms? And more importantly, why are complying? Get your children out of school. Nothing is more important than them.

Talk about “big brother!” Besides the child’s lunch being none of the government’s damn business, it’s insulting to this girl’s parents in particular and should scare hell out of every other parent in this country. The message is “you’re too dumb to raise your children the correct way, so we’ll do it for you!” Pretty scary stuff! Please read it because it is down to the Local School Wellness policy of the school or district to determine how the requirement is administered. In this case, I think people should be questioning the schools policy and not blaming President Obama.
