Cong Ben Chandler Votes Against REINS and Other Regulatory Control Acts

The Administration shows no signs of slowing down on job-killing over-regulation. According to the White House, 144 pending major rules are expected soon to cost at least $100 million annually. Rather than standing against the rising burden of regulations, Congressman Ben Chandler delivered key votes wrapped in red tape just in time for the holidays.
In early December, three pieces of legislation passed in the House putting federal regulators on notice. The Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act of 2011 (H.R. 527) passed on December 1 and focused on the impact that rules have on small entities. The next day the House passed the Regulatory Accountability Act (H.R. 3010) which requires more thorough and more transparent examination of proposed rules before they are adopted. The most sweeping of the regulatory reforms was the Regulations From the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act of 2011 (H.R. 10). It passed on December 7 and strips power from unaccountable bureaucrats to enact burdensome regulations with an annual economic impact of $100M or more.
Each has been referred in the Senate where hopes for passage are dim. President Obama has threatened to veto all three.
The House votes largely went down party lines. Twenty-eight Democrats joined all voting Republicans in support of H.R. 527. Only 19 Democrats voted “Aye” on H.R. 3010 and a mere five voted for REINS.
Congressman Ben Chandler (D, Ky-6) voted reliably with his party on H.R. 3010 and REINS, and in support of three labor-backed, Democrat-sponsored amendments which would have weakened H.R. 527.
“It is unconscionable that at a time when the labor force is shrinking and more than 13 million Americans are still looking for work, Ben Chandler continues to oppose sensible regulatory reform, like the REINS Act, which would give Congress the ability to protect the American people from job killing regulations,” said Andy Barr, the 2012 Republican candidate for Congress in Kentucky’s Sixth Congressional District.
Barr, a part-time instructor of Constitutional Law, also noted that the REINS Act would reinvigorate the non-delegation doctrine, a corollary to the separation of powers doctrine, which prohibits Congress from delegating unfettered legislative authority to the Executive Branch.
Chandler’s opposition to H.R. 3010 is particularly interesting in light of his role as chair of the Blue Dog Coalition’s Task Force on Oversight and Regulatory Review. According to the Task Force’s website, it “examines the thousands of regulations issued annually by the federal government with the objective of identifying those that are overly burdensome and modifying rules problematic to job creation.” It focuses on 12 independent federal agencies, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. If enacted, H.R. 3010 would, among other things, subject the independent agencies such as the Federal Communications Commission and the Securities and Exchange Commission to the same rulemaking required of executive branch agencies.

My compliments!!,
The Tea Party Patriots telephone poll was well done. We will need to be on guard against the liberals’ attack which will be forthcoming. Be guided by the practice of the marxist because that defines the liberals led by Obama, the communist, supported by G Soros.

So we know that satan is the master of deception & confusion. And when you sift through all proposals dreamed up by liberals you then see clearly that satan is deeply embedded in the very hearts & souls of the thieves & extortionists writing these anti-American laws of destruction! We have to continually oversee such monsters just to maintain the business freedoms still favoring free enterprise as we know it. Small business freedom of movement in this country is the solution. God bless all who support these truths and stand firmly against these “monsters of mass destruction” in the USA whom stand against the American dream. Thank you and good night!
Nearly a year ago I had asked Senator Snowe about over regulation…her response..
“As Ranking Member on the Senate Small Business Committee, I have made it one of my highest priorities to address the mounting regulatory burden that the Federal government is imposing on American business.”
… “So we should waste no time in cutting regulatory red-tape requirements that are strangulating America’s small businesses.”
… “I am developing legislation that will include an aggressive regulatory reform agenda”
She also stated she is fighting tooth and nail to remove this burden. She has been on vacation since that time and she will probably agree that if she is re-elected she will fight tooth and nail some more.
Don’t ya just love it when these gutless wonders throw out colloquial statements
“fighting tooth and nail”, “get down and dirty”, ” my constituents will hold me responsible”
“I will get re-elected because I am financed by the big banks and lobbyists”. “Newt Gingrich is my brother….we all lie …what’s wrong with that”
We have been crying about this for years. As a small business owner this administration has almost destroyed both of our business’s, but the repulicans really haven’t done anything to help me either, even when they had control. Didn’t do anything about the taxes middle class have to pay, my back is breaking and I haven’t forgotten the contract with America they didn’t keep. The last thing I want to do this election is go backwards. I hope we have a nominee that even independents can move forward with and get this administration out. But I’m really getting tired of voting for one party just to get the other out. Tired of the lies told to me to get my vote and nothing ever comes of it and I have to use my vote the next time to get them out.
And you think that Gingrich or Romney is going to shut this down. You never here them talk about cutting spending like Ron Paul. The Tea Party has become infiltrated by the Republican Party. Gingrich Nor Romney are TEA Party people. So what the hell are you all doing? I considered myself with you but you have turned your back on the Godfather Candidate in Ron Paul. This makes me sick. SELL OUTS!!!
This article speaks of the very thing that Ron Paul has been warning us about and has been fighting against since he has been in Office. Would someone please WAKE UP! SHIOT What is wrong with everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Establishing regulations on corporation has NEVER kept any of these corporations from not hiring. Regulations protect stupid people from doing stupid things and putting lives, health and the environment at risk. If anything, regulations create jobs because companies have to do something new that they haven’t done before, thus needing people to do it.
Small business owners create small paying jobs. But if they want to hold on to their small business, it is time that they stood up against corporate giants, who are really responsible for their loss of business rather than always blaming everything on the government. If a law was passed that removed every penny of tax from every small business owner, many would still go under or have hard times financially if no one was buying what they were selling.
Anyone one here who is honest take a test about pollution. Set in a car with all the window up except one. Pump exhaust in the open one. Tell me if pollution is not real? If you are man enough to take the test them all else lies.
Good thing God created the largest filtration device known to man, Earth. This planet has been covered with (pollution) at least twice and both times the planet was able to rid itself of the self imposed devastation due to volcanic eruptions.
We can be smart about pollution without being ignorant to our circumstances. We can not jeopardize our national economy in effort to bring about energy changes that cost more than what is now available. Our natural resources such as oil and natural gas can be used, we import 80% of our oil. I would rather import 20% of our oil and produce 80% domestically in order to improve our economic problems. No matter how hard we push for renewable sources the plan hard fact is we continue to send our money for energy outside of this country in order to sustain our economy. I argue we would be better served to improve our economy by keeping our wealth at home while we wait for cheaper and less expensive renewable sources to be developed.
To me, our present situation could be explained in this manner. Why would I allow the bank to foreclose on my mortgage because I am laid off, when I have enough money in my 401 k retirement to pay my house off? Let’s deal with our present situation as it is more important. Let’s not allow the lies of the MSM keep us from having a free market, that is required in order for capitalism to work. It is easy for King Hussein to discount capitalsim, when it is not being allowed to flourish in a free market. The government is dictating the market presently and the more involvement government has the less prosperous capitalism is allowed to become. Unless of course you are a corporation that is allowed to go to China and sell your products back to the people who once made those products. All of this is accomplished by your government over regulation and taxation and then King Hussein has the nerve to question the Wall Street for their ability to make money. King Hussein has allowed all corporation including the oil companies to control pricing by over regulation and then blames them for being so profitable. Their are no more cost involved today than 4 years ago when gas was $1.87, except now instead of having a free market in which we would be competitive, we are not allowed to participate due to over regulation by government. By all means let’s protect our national resources, but we need not allow the bank to foreclose on our dreams in order to do so.
this is the single biggest JOB KILLER in America – EPA, Endangered Species acts are used to file law suits [multiple and serial] with the intention of delaying, stopping and increasing the cost of the project so that it becomes non-competitive with other options like Solar of wind in the energy production industry.
