Welcome to the Mainstream of America

Where do you go if you believe government should live within its means – the same way that you and your family must live within your means each day?
If you tended to lean Republican, then you might have been dismayed this year when Republicans cast you, and the majority of Americans, as extreme for wanting America to live within its means.
If you leaned Democrat, then you might have been shocked by Democrats calling you a terrorist or a hostage-taker for wanting your representatives to behave as responsibly as you.
The majority of Americans – all across the political spectrum – were not well-represented this year by either so-called “mainstream” political party.
Only the Tea Party Patriots gave voice to the majority of Americans when we joined together and said to both parties: “stop overspending.”
So, welcome to the majority. Welcome to the mainstream of America. And welcome to the new Tea Party Patriots web site.

Governments over-spend just because they Can, without penalty. An _older_ saying says, “Congress is the _opposite_ of Progress!”
[This was _before_ Progressive became a synonym of Liberal. Phew! (That stinks.)]
What about a Consitutional Amendment that requires a Balanced Budget? This would be like asking Congress to shoot-itself in the foot. The answer is to _discriminate_ against the Rich. What a country!
I’m a 48 year-old man. Neither my two older brothers nor I have Any Children. We three men have chosen _not_ to bring a child into a such-a Corrupt World. There!
[While I wrote this, I have Sean Hannity on my radio. I hear WWNC @ AM 570 in
Asheville, NC.]
We have enough laws on the books now that those holding elected office should get the message to control spending and their many other corrupt practices. The problem is criminals don’t obey laws and today politicians, judges and government employees are overwhelmingly members of the criminal class.
Richard, there are too many laws and government has grown beyond reasonable bounds. But the existing laws don’t bind our politicians from spending our money. That’s where we need the laws — to reign in our politicians from spending our money to gain votes and influence.
And politicians would love for you to blame the government employees rather than take responsibility for overseeing government themselves. The typical government employees are simply doing their jobs according to the laws and regulations that have been put in place under the oversight of the politicians. Hold the politicians accountable.
A balanced budget amendment is a good start. But I’d add to that an amendment to prevent any federal, state or local government from investing in, or subsidising, any business or commercial operation. And for good measure, since so much waste in government comes when local governments spend federal tax dollars, we should require that the federal government shall not redirect tax dollars to other governments. This simply results in lack of accountability for the sake of building political patronage. For example, if the federal government wants to build and maintain an interstate highway system, then the federal government should do that. Delegating such tasks to the states simply creates waste.
My first argument about abortion is directed towards the Tea Party. On the Tea Party website, conflicting views on abortion are presented; however, according to the Washington Post, all of the major party representatives from the Tea Party are pro-life. The Tea Party’s mission statement “is to attract, educate, organize, and mobilize our fellow citizens to secure public policy consistent with our three core values of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets” (http://www.teapartypatriots.org/Mission.aspx). I fail to understand how a constitutionally limited government equals bans on abortion. Isn’t the point of a constitutionally limited government to increase reliance on personal responsibility and personal choice? Also, “mostly taxes and deficits seem unrelated to unborn babies, making it tough to explain why Tea Partiers and pro-lifers are so closely aligned” (http://washingtonexaminer.com/politics/tea-partiers-oppose-abortion-not-just-deficits). Tea Partiers must have sensed this disparity: the focus on pro-life has moved to an institutional criticism of government-subsidized abortions (most Tea-Partiers also oppose Obamacare). If the government has determined that the American people have a right to health care, abortion should be included in this bill without question. I reject the Tea Party’s ethical stance on abortion on the grounds of the rights approach as well as the fairness approach.
Just like a typical liberal. Focusing solely on one side of the argument. You just don’t get it do you? Of course not, or you’d be pro-life as well. IT’S SIMPLY NOT JUST THE RIGHTS OF THE MOTHER THAT ARE IN DISPUTE! What about the rights of the child in her womb?? Does that not matter to you?
I understand if the mother doesn’t want the responsibility of raising a child she never planned for, but that’s why there’s the adoption process.
As for ObamaCare, of course the Tea Party opposes it. Its unconstitutional. I don’t care if the whack jobs in Washington think it’s a good idea, there simply is no basis for it in the Constitution. It’s a bad use of federal funds for a program the government doesn’t have the authority to administer.
This country has things so backwards now that people don’t know left from right, right from wrong, or anything in between anymore. We punish those who work their asses off to be successful by overtaxing them, and then we take that money to give it to those who don’t, so they can continue sitting on their asses and not working to find a way out of poverty themselves. As long as we continue to make life cushy for them and give them free government money, where is their incentive to improve their lot in life?
